Class Tuning Incoming with Embers of Neltharion Patch

To address several points of overperformance and underperformance, we will deploy tuning and balance adjustments to many classes along with the Embers of Neltharion patch maintenance next week. We’re also deploying these changes to the Embers of Neltharion PTR today for testing.

Please note that these adjustments are being made to abilities as they have been designed/tuned in the Embers of Neltharion patch, and some may not apply to how spells are tuned in the live game (10.0.7). Some of the adjustments below are to the PTR tuning of tier items coming with the Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible raid.

Demon Hunter


  • Demon’s Bite damage increased by 8%.
  • Demon Blades damage increased by 8%.
  • Felblade damage increased by 8%.
  • Chaos Strike/Annihilation Damage increased by 8%.
  • Serrated Glaive (Talent) debuff duration increased to 15 seconds, and now retains up to 30% additional duration when refreshed (was 10 seconds).
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Chaos Theory’s (Talent) bonus to crit chance from affecting off-hand hits of Chaos Strike/Annihilation.



  • All ability damage increased by 5%.


  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set bonus now increases Lifebloom and Rejuvenation healing by 10% (was 12%).



  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set bonus will now grant Essence Rush after 4 Empower spell casts (was 3).



  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set bonus now reduces the cooldown of Wildfire Bomb by 1 seconds per 30 Focus spent (was 25 Focus) and Kill Command increases the damage of your Wildfire Bomb by 40% (was 75%).



  • Vault of the Incarnates 2-Set bonus Arcane Blast now provides 3% critical strike chance per Arcane Charge (was 5%).
  • Arcane Blast damage increased by 4%.
  • Arcane Missiles damage increased by 5%.
  • Developers’ notes: Heading into the Embers of Neltharion patch, Arcane’s 2-piece bonus from Vault of the Incarnates is performing better than intended.


  • Ignite damage reduced by 6%.

  • Developers’ notes: The most recent buffs to Fire were slightly more than intended. We are going to reduce the damage of Ignite to keep a relatively similar gain in ST while reducing the effectiveness of the buffs in AoE.



  • Tiger Palm damage increased by 15%.

  • Rising Sun Kick damage increased by 15%.

  • Blackout Kick damage increased by 8%.



  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set bonus now increases the critical healing of Holy Shock by 60% (was 15%).

  • Light’s Hammer healing increased by 60%.

  • Holy Prism healing increased by 150%.

  • Holy Prism damage increased by 100%.


  • Aegis of Light (specialization passive) stamina bonus reduced to 30% (was 35%) and armor bonus reduced to 10% (was 15%).

  • Righteous Protector’s cooldown reduction is now 2 seconds (was 3 seconds).

  • Sentinel’s health increase per stack is now 1% (was 2%).


  • Fixed an issue that prevented Nightstalker’s damage bonus from applying in its intended circumstances.


  • All ability damage increased by 5%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.

  • Mutilate damage increased by 5%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.

  • Envenom damage increased by 5%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.

  • Shiv damage increased by 20%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.

  • Kingsbane damage increased by 12%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.


  • Dispatch damage increased by 5%

  • Between the Eyes damage increased by 20%

  • Summarily Dispatched (Talent) now increases Dispatch damage by 6% per stack, to a maximum of 30% (was 5% per stack, max 25%).

  • Developers’ notes: While the buff will provide the correctly updated bonus, the tooltip for the base talent will be changed in a future update.


  • Shadowstrike damage increased by 10%.

  • Eviscerate damage increased by 6%.



  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set bonus now grants 1 stack of Stormkeeper (was 2 stacks).

  • Developers’ notes: The tooltip for the 2-set bonus will be updated to reflect this change in a future update.

  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 4-Set bonus now only grants 50% increased Maelstrom, down from 75%.


  • Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible: 2-Set bonus Tidewaters healing increased by 30%.



  • Developers’ notes: Demonology received some powerful single-target additions to their talent tree in 10.0.7. We’re making these adjustments after observing that their throughput is a bit higher than what was originally intended and that these talents have overshadowed other talent choices. We’ll continue to monitor Demonology, along with Affliction and Destruction, and appreciate the community’s continued feedback.

  • Reign of Tyranny now increases the damage of Demonic Tyrant by 40% (was 50%).

  • Immutable Hatred now increases the damage of Legion Strike by 100% (was 120%). Does not affect PvP combat.



  • All ability damage increased by 4%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.

  • Auto-attack damage increased by 12%. These changes do not affect PvP Combat.


  • All ability damage increased by 4%.

  • Auto-attack damage increased by 4%.

Removed an errant word from Survival Hunter note. It now correctly reads:

How can you deny buffs for assa rogue in PvP if they are underperforming since ret rework without being able to equal the damage or survivability from top tier specs?

Even r1 were dropping hard as rogue mains since that, c’mon, why?

We need that even more since YOU nerfed CCs in PvP, how you can’t notice that?

No guardian changes? for real? buffing already strong classes? nerfing the most panishing spec in this game right now after giving him a buff few days ago? what happend? u dont want to see a spec that got more than 4 keys to press to do dmg? 90% of this blue post is pathetic

Finally some fury changes. I was hoping for more than just a flat 4% buff. I highly doubt that fury will get you a spot in m+ next season.

Strangely enough the classes that are fully dominating the mythics are getting more and more buffs while those classes that require respec every single pack in raids and a pocket priests for PI keeps getting nerfed.

If demo locks are so strong would you point a single mythic instance where you see them dominating?! I will help you- there is NO single demo lock in the mythic leaderboard in the first 300 players. No affliction either. Very rarely a destro for when affixes allow to stand still and cast but not a single demo lock!

Buff ele shamans not nerfing them please, what did we wrong to deserve this much HATE from Blizzard ?? Always when we seems going be good in next patch, last minute “hotfix” or change broke this and we never have a chance to be good at a new raid start this is a horrible feeling, we haven’t really specific raid buff or utility what other classes cannot bring and important to raid progress. We have already hard times to getting in the progress raidgroup, and yes you can say it bring the player not the class/spec, but all of us know it this never happening when leader can choose between a “good” raid buff and dmg player and an only “good” dmg player. ( baseline/talented pve skyfury totem for elemental sham when? ) . You increased the "cooldown on 2pc set from 40sec to 50sec and after it you cut it in half ( 1 stack instead of original 2stack effect) , so please change atleast the “cooldown” to 30sec or 25sec and we can forget this accident about this aberrus tier setbonus. PLS BUFF ELE SHAMAN

And they are still looking like the rank 1 tank spec for both m+ and the raid even after this nerf.

Wish u guys changed a bit in the DK blood talent, it’s a one way ticket, since the expansion began i see most tanks have 1 build for raid and m+ the only difference is we select “buff anti magic shield” or AMZ, getting boring to play tank with same rotation, need new abilities added in the talent tree, perhaps add the whole shadow land special abilities of the 4 different covenants.

Change dh garbage set bonus. For example you could put that when a certain amount of fury is spent we get chaos theory (SL leggo effect) for 7-8 seconds, or something like that. You literally couldn’t put any worse garbage than the current one.

Bears (and Cat bleed build) were good at the start of DF. Then pvpers cryed and the spec got butchered because god forbid tanks to play pvp if they want to. PVE was a collateral damage.

To me they gave up on the spec. Aren’t they the worst tank in pve and unplayable in pvp (damage nerfed / take 70+% more damage aura thing)?

short sighted answer…there is still at 10.1 that everyone gets 25% more dmg and you will see dead paladins hehe
pointless to play pala in progression, you can use them in farm probably really good

which part couldnt you play as guardian druid? playing slightly above m+ 20 and did the first 2 free mythic bosses like everyone on an alt
