Ok... how is it supposed to work?
Guides tell me that I should always combine spike with flurry so i get shatters. That seems good idea. Yet, in game i will find myself casting frostbolts even, if I have glacial spike up. I might have got to shoot spike 2-3 times at sometimes before a single instant flurry pops up.
Should i always wait? Or what?
I'm atm trying to spec to ebon bolt so I could at least force a instant flurry, but I still find myself casting frostbolts and no isntatn flurry popping up and seeing myself losing potential glacial spike casts.
How is it done right?
That’s it... RNG... save flurry if you have 3-5 stacks and hope and pray , or spec fire
I'll take that advice and roll fire.
I'm tired of trying to deal with frost.

Get yourself a good addon to track icicles (I use WeakAuras) and keep an eye on them. If you’re on 3+ icicles and Flurry is up then keep it until you can use GS, if you’re on less than 3 spend the Flurry to build icicles and either hope RNG is on your side or keep your Ebonbolt CD ready for it.
Personally, depending upon the context of the fight at the time, if I’ve not got an Ebonbolt available and no Flurry has procced in 3 casts or so I’ll dump the GS as I feel like it’s a dps loss to have not been building more icicles etc. It could always crit anyway. Might be wrong but certainly feels better to me.

If using splitting ice do not save it at all on cleave, and stacking crit gems enchants etc sure make it better!
flurry proc with 4 stacks = save
if no proc on 5 stacks ebonbolt
if no ebonbolt on 5 stacks cast frostbolt until flurry
if splitting ice, the same applies unless 2 targets, cast on 5 stacks with or without flurry procc
