Covenants are really unbalanced

Sadly night fae just gives bigger impact on pve and pvp than venthyrs pointless dot skill :frowning: and i sadly run after the numbers… i hope someday i can return and party with the fangers

then mog something else if you dont want to look like a butterfly?

i picked Kyrian addunal self heal and wall hax just shot tru walls :stuck_out_tongue:

Overall necrolord is best for dk, and it’s best by a longshot in pvp. Unless you go blood then venthyr is better. Honestly us dk have it easy when it comes to covenant, our best covenant is the one that fits the best with our class fantasy and the one spec for which it isn’t the case also as a strong link to it’s own best covenant.

Blizzard were really hypocritical with how they said they envisioned covenants - on one hand, they said they were looking to achieve some semblance of acceptable balance, and on the other they said they wanted a “meaningful choice” where each covenant/class combo has it’s own strengths and time in the light.

It couldn’t be both, and it turned out to be neither. Covenants are a laughable system. Once again, players know best - players know what they want, Blizzard says “you think you do but you don’t”, Blizzard goes ahead with plans they receive huge amounts of feedback against and … how unsurprising that it’s a complete mess that is ruining the expansion for so many players.

well covenant gear effects covenant abiltyes aswell so does soulbinds …

Problem with statistics like this is that they don’t reflect true balance. I have no idea how balanced the covenants are, but I think even a 1-2% advantage could lead to 50-60% of players choosing that covenant

What if you are interested in both ? The whole “if you aren’t a mythic raider/glad it doesn’t matter” argument is wrong on so many level. People don’t like gimping themselves, and regarding certain specs not picking a certain covenant is very gimping yourself. And even if you can still complete the content you do it feels terrible.

Covenants are trying to square a triangle. There is three angles to covenant, how good the ability is, how fun the ability is, and how much you like the covenant story/aesthetic. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to be satisfied by all three angles unless some rare cases like druids and dk. You will most likely have to choose between them, picking two or even one angle. Do you want a strong ability ? A fun ability ? Or a covenant that you actually care about ?

That would be the case if all covenant abilities would be the exact same, but they’re all vastly different. Some work better for pvp, some work better for pve; likewise some of them work better for AoE and others for ST.

The problem is that some covenants are just good in all situations or even better in all of them. Most specs have one of these covenants where there’s just very little choice to be made.

My point was that imo the majority of wow players are meta slaves who don’t check for themselves what clicks, but instead just google “best covenant xxx” and choose that.

will that be revelent in 9.3.0 when we have ilvl 300 Covenant gear with 4 set bonus with 9 peaces and 2 legenderys so totlay 6 effects and ilvl 285 soulbinds.

Then why make all these covenants with their unique abilities at all? Just give people a new ability that’s not tied to their covenant and let them choose their hub if you’re not going to at least balance the abilities to be somewhat competitive. I just don’t see the point.

I guess it’s a good thing I don’t play the game past low M+ keys with guildies, WQs and the odd LFR run, because there are days I don’t see another shaman in Heart of the Forest.

Can’t blame the masses going Necro and Venthyr, though. What even were they thinking with Fae Transfusion, especially for enhance…

I remember them basically saying somewhere that we should not worry about covenants because they are going to balance problems away… xD But maybe I misheard something.

Players were saying this is going to be unbalanced mess since the idea even came up.

So then you’d have to pick between color blue, red, green and purple. Which would defeat the purpose of the system.

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to satisfy every single player in the game. Some find the system fine, others don’t care to much about it as long as it allows them do what they want in the game. And people who generally want everything to be balanced 1:1 which by its own nature will never happen. People will always find a flaw in the system and that’s because there will never be a fair system to begin with.

The covenants are a failed concept, with how it currently is implemented, those with work, family… a normal life suffers immensly. Since raiding 6 hours a week, is max, and that’s fine if the group consists of likeminded, but you chose the wrong covenenat, because in theory it would no be that BIG, and for some classes the difference is BIG, rendering what on paper would be a OK covenenat, completetly useless.(looking at necro for rogue, as an example).
And there is no way i’ll ever regrind, rather quit.

And they are not learning from the last expansions fails, refusing to balance anything, even tough the numbers are out, showing how insanly imbalanced covenants and some classes are. Nothing is done, saving for the next content patch, then destorying a few specs and atleast 1 covenant completetly. That’s how they do.

Just tweek the damn numbers for underperforming covenants and specs, weekly, not so insanly slow, know multiple ppl that just quit, since the regrind is to much, but they want to stay relevant for raid, dung, pvp, just not possible if they’ve chosen wrong, the impact of the choise is so big they will be ignored for any of that content with wrong covenant… since the disparity between a “good” and a “bad” covenant is so insanly big it’s a disgrace.

But yes, blame is on me, the player, knowing pretty damn well that blizzard would never be able to even be close, or even try to balance anything, witch is what is infuriating, just TRY to balance it atleast, nothing, silence. GJ.

Covenants literally took this Shaman as my main and made it a dead alt.

What a damn mistake… I was a damned fool… picking the Covenant I wanted… Night Fae Shaman… what like 5% of Ele’s are currently going Night Fae?
I felt like an idiot.
The ability sucked.
I hated playing it.
I rerolled to Necro and lost all motivation to play my Shaman.

As a monk I picked Night Fae, but the ability is just really underwhelming. I read guides and tried the ability out, but Kyrian is just SO MUCH BETTER, there’s literally no chance you’ll outdps another monk using the Kyrian Covenant when raiding.

I’m a good player, I’ve always raided mythic and I’ve historically always gotten purple/orange logs and I dread going into raiding with Night Fae, but I still like it for M+. If the covenant abilities were easily swappable I wouldn’t have a problem with it, but this is just extremely annoying. I also think the Kyrian ability is kinda boring.

My fix would be that AoE focused covenant abilities get a bonus when used on 1-target and ST focused covenants have a certain cleave component to them. Or just make them easily swappable…

still they killing off M+ by giveing players no loot so doing top DPS in M+ does not realy mather when you get no loot reword anyways …

Yeah loot is a whole other dicussion, but I don’t M+ for loot generally. I just wanna see how high I can go
