But if they can burn down your ship, they can burn down other ships too! A fair gamble.
Freehold, Booty Bay, Ratchet, Gadgetzan and Bogpaddle stand out as “safe” havens for most Pirates. As others have said; if your character isn’t notorious, they shouldn’t have much issue visiting Alliance/Horde settlements undisguised (provided they’re an appropriate race). If you’re a known criminal it’d be very different.
There’d be some exceptions of course. Boralus is exceptionally strict on piracy and they seem to actively hunt suspects, while Bildgewater Harbour’s probably quite forgiving to sinful individuals - provided they play by Cartel rules during their stay!
What’s your source?
A warlock’s magic is more dangerous but more easily achieved power. It’s kinda the point of Fel: easier, faster power as opposed to the arcane which requires more study.
The knowledge to become a warlock might be scarcer and less organized than that of mages, but warlock trainers and arguably grimoires can be found all over Azeroth (and in neutral ports such as Ratchet too), and lorewise warlock learn of their ways pretty quickly.
We even see a small group of goblin warlocks within Booty Bay next to the exploding robot chicken.
There’s also something which isn’t usually spoken about when it comes to warlocks and why they’d really make sense for a group like pirates and bandits.
Most magic that warlocks use require some kind of sacrifice for their most powerful spells, while a mage can eventually perform most of their powerful spells with the only requirement that they still have enough mana.
When a lot of your magical prowess relies on the fact that you use souls as fuel, it’s probably an idea that goes through many warlocks’ heads to sell your services to groups which kill people constantly. The crew you’re working for gets the plunder, your warlock gets the dead village’s souls.
A pirate certainly doesn’t have to be evil as said above. Though they simply aren’t selfless good natured people. They can be morally grey, following some kind of personal code that makes them believe that what they do is right. Through that your pirate can still show goodness depending on the situation, no wanting to cross certain lines. What is good and what is evil is not written in stone either way and the world isn’t black and white.
Hey hey!
So I can only give you my opinion on this matter, just like anyone else, so don’t take what I say as gospel
- Generally? Well, just as much as youd consider a thief on land evil. There are Robin Hood style thieves, and there are vicious murderious thieves. Theres a huge register of different sort of villains.I’d say most pirates belong on the neutral to evil side of things. They are outlaws and often violent. I suppose if theyre evil or not depends on who you ask. A pirate would say the navy is evil, generally. A navyman would say a pirate is evil.
- Can? Yes. Should? Maybe not. Theres always a risk. You are a criminal, after all. How WANTED you are depends I suppose. I dont think youd want to boast about your title openly, and if you are a wanted pirate Id advice disguises and keeping a low profile.
- Most classes can work as a pirate, and I would think more about the individual rather than class. On AD the pirate community is (again generally) fairly gritty and keeping to more down to earth worker-bee sort of pirates. Many play sailors as a very superstitious sort, so a warlock could struggle to get close to a community as such.
Not sure if this helped you at all, but if you join the pirate community I wish you all the fun times!
Heave ho~
