In life, Underking Osir’arak was a revered Spiderlord among the Nerubian dynasties. Legends speak of his role in the construction of vast, subterranean gates - colossal barriers built to seal away the black blood of the Old Ones - the Nerubians’ former masters.

Like much of his kingdom, Osir’arak fell during the War of the Spider. In a cruel twist of fate, the Lich King raised him into undeath and tasked the Spiderlord with overseeing the Scourge’s harvesting of the very substance he once sought to keep buried – the black ore that would eventually be used to forge the soul-destroying spires of Icecrown.

The Crypt Lord swiftly rose in the ranks of the Scourge, becoming a fanatical lieutenant of Arthas. But during the war in Northrend, Osir’arak was captured and imprisoned within the Violet Hold. There, it was not the arcane wards that tormented him, but the silence. The voice of the Lich King, once a constant presence in his mind, had vanished. Kirin Tor jailers recall cries of madness from his cell: shrieking fits, whispered bargains, and desperate laments for a voice that no longer answered.

When Dalaran fell over Khaz Algar, Osir’arak was presumed destroyed along with the other prisoners. But that assumption, it seems, was mistaken.

Months after the city’s destruction, reports speak of a single Crypt Lord stalking the shadowy reaches of Khaz Algar, dragging the corpses of travelers, merchants, and adventurers alike into the darkness. Its chitin, survivors whisper, covered in permafrost…

The Violet Warden has no doubt that the Crypt Lord described is Osir’arak. He fears, however, what his lingering presence in Khaz Algar could mean. Has he found Azj-Kahet? Can he raise the Sureki into undeath? Does he know the Lich King is dead?

And if he does: then what?

If not… what horrors might he unleash in his desperate attempt to earn back the favor of a ghost?

Magnolius does not intend to find out. He urges the Knights of the Ebon Blade to track down the fallen Spiderlord and destroy him, before the Scourge potentially claims another Nerubian Empire.

Underking Osir’arak stalks the shadowy reaches of Khaz Algar, and the Death Knights of Acherus will face him!

On saturday next week, we descend into the Ringing Deeps. Let me know if you wish to sign up! There are still plenty of spots left (we are 4/10 so far!)

Last night was a great success!

Summary of Event 2: Tremors of the Past.
The Ebon Blade set out to hunt Stonewing the Necropolis and the Cult of the Damned in the Ringing Deeps. Choosing the northern lift to descend, they aimed to intercept the cultists who had taken the southern route. Before they descended, the Violet Warden warned them of two threats: the Amalgamation of Souls, a cursed entity escorted by the cultists, and Stonewing, a monstrous gargoyle drawn to the clash of blood and unholy magic.

Emerging in the depths, the Death Knights found devastation - shattered bodies and ruined wagons. Following traces of necrotic magic, they discovered an Earthen construct possessed by the anguished souls of fallen dwarves. Modredus Ashwind calmed the spirits, who revealed they had been attacked by living Nerubians, who destroyed the Amalgamation’s prison of bone. In their desperation, the souls possessed the construct for protection.

With the construct’s guidance, the Death Knights found the ambush site swarming with Sureki Nerubians, led by an Ascended commander. Battle erupted, but chaos intensified when a Crypt Lord named Osir’arak emerged, accusing the Nerubians of abandoning Azjol-Nerub. A brutal three-way conflict began.

Amid the chaos, Johnny Rotbourne’s anti-magic shield inadvertently triggered a fusion of blood and unholy magic - luring Stonewing. The gargoyle’s arrival sent the Nerubians scattering. The Death Knights, already wounded, fought desperately, but Stonewing was too powerful. Only when the construct - driven by the spirits of Muradin’s Expedition -joined the fight did they force the gargoyle to retreat.

In the aftermath, the Death Knights captured a Darkfallen cultist. Under torture, he revealed their Master in Hallowfall - a San’layn named Vith’eri, Baron of Night. With Stonewing wounded and unlikely to threaten the Ringing Deeps again soon, the Death Knights resolved to focus on Hallowfall and destroy Vith’eri before his plans for the Arathi can unfold.

Not only did five Knights of the Ebon Blade encounter the Amalgamation of Souls, but they also found themselves face-to-face with Stonewing the Necropolis and Underking Osir’arak!

Though both Stonewing and the Underking managed to escape, the Death Knights now turn their attention to Hallowfall where the San’layn Vith’eri, Baron of Night, awaits his inevitable Final Death.

Their hunt continues…

The date for the next event will be announced soon!

Next Saturday, the Ebon Blade descends into the treacherous, subterranean land of Hallowfall to confront the last cultists and their Master: Vith’ethir, Baron of Night, a San’layn who survived the fall of Dalaran.
(His full introduction is coming soon.)

From conjuring firestorms during the Troll Wars to mentoring apprentices beneath the violet spires of Dalaran, and finally to his blood-drenched demise at the Roof of the World alongside his fellow Sunfury - Vith’ethir lived a long and storied life. But for many of these children of Quel’thalas, death was not the end.

The Scourge, ever hungering for powerful servants, raised the fallen from their icy graves as San’layn – undead elves with dark powers and vampiric attributes. These Darkfallen soon inherited the roles once held by the Nathrezim: strategists and and overseers within the Lich King’s court.

Vith’ethir was counted among them - and feared above most. Among the Scourge and his enemies, he eventually became known as the Baron of Night, though few who spoke the name lived long enough to explain its meaning.

During the war in Northrend, Vith’ethir used his talents to infiltrate the Kirin Tor, donning mortal guises to sow chaos from within Dalaran – where he himself had once held arcane lectures. Eventually unmasked, he was imprisoned in the Violet Hold, his name erased from the annals of the order he once served…

In time, more of his Darkfallen kin joined him in captivity – his brothers: Thal’theron, the Thorned Tongue and Velthrik, the Shadow Duke, among them. Though once commanders of legions of undead, the three spent their captivity not in silence, but in constant bickering, taunting, and shouting across the enchanted barriers of their cells. The Violet Warden himself remarked that it was like listening to quarreling children…

When Dalaran fell, they were all presumed lost and destroyed beneath the rubble.

But weeks ago, an Arathi worker turned up dead in the heart of Mereldar - completely drained of blood. While the Order of Night was the first to be blamed, the Violet Warden had his own suspicions. He journeyed to Mereldar himself and immediately recognized the handiwork of the San’layn.

And it was through the Ebon Blade’s efforts - deep within the Ringing Deeps, as a dying, Darkfallen cultist breathed his last - that a name was revealed to them: Vith’ethir, Baron of Night.

Though initially feared to have infiltrated the Arathi, the truth was far stranger. Agents of the Kirin Tor located him at the heart of a Kobyss war-camp near Lorel’s Crossing - worshipped as some sort of dark god by the Deepsea creatures.

Now, the Violet Warden calls upon the Ebon Blade once more: ride for Hallowfall, strike down the Baron of Night and lay waste to his followers, before his schemes spell further doom for the Arathi.

Introducing the final Scourge fugitive: Vith’ethir, Baron of Night.

We journey to Hallowfall exactly one week from today! Let me know if you wish to sign up! There are still plenty of spots left (we are 5/10 so far!) :fire:

Event 4 will happen next week - on Saturday, June 14th!

Our continued hunt for Vith’ethir, Baron of Night, will take us to Mereldar next!

To spite his kin, the Baron’s brother, Thal’theron the Thorned Tongue, revealed to the Death Knights that Vith’ethir hides within the Arathi city - apparently disguised as one of the halfelves.

The Death Knight Modredus Ashwind has since attempted, through a dark ritual containing Thal’theron’s earthly remains, to glimpse into Mereldar from afar. He discovered that Void anchors - likely in the form of effigies or altars - from inside the city itself blocks his attempts to locate the San’layn.

The Death Knights will have to travel to Mereldar in person to find the fugitive Scourge vampire and tear out the corruption by its roots.

But not before a few days of rest - to gather their strength in the aftermath of walking in the Beledar’s Light for far longer than any undead should…

In the meantime, the Violet Warden has placed eyes inside the city in order to give the Ebon Blade something to work with upon their arrival.

Let me know if you wish to sign up!
