I actually asked if they could restore mine at the time but it was a bug fat no… too much time had passed i guess.
I wanted to attach old rank achievement from vanil for tmog daggers once but couldnt remember name for email back then to even begin try see if it could be linked to an new account. But they have added vanil rank wpns for rated battleground achievement that can just be obtained from blitz as well so I have those weapons now anyway. Didnt have other need for those characters really and there was only one mage and rogue anyway, and there is no gold

Once Blizzard introduce a service GMs are forbidden to perform it. You should be able to eventually restore them all.
Blizzard were usually good at restoring old account - they never delete anything.
I really have no clue.

Earlier this week I actually loaded up the launcher to make sure my sub said it ran out. You know… Just to make sure. But yeah, no sub.

I havent had sub for this account for over 2 month or something. Maybe its bug on forum, atleast game is full of bugs since pre patch.
Probably the forums being slow with updating lets hope they never update!

The game still has gameplay affecting bugs since tww pre patch. Talents that dont work or abilities that bug etc, might as well be bugs on forum too

Yeah. The forums can be slow. Had to take a break from WoW for a month as well(I got the monthly sub instead of 3-6-12 months). If this old brain is remembering stuff correctly, could use the forums for a week…if not a bit more -10 days before got locked out. 
The support is terrible, I never met anything worse, seriously.
Back in Shadowlands they banned me in chat for 2 weeks for questionable reasons, I tried to appeal and opened a ticket, and the system said average wait time is 24 DAYS. So literally I have no right to appeal.
And in recent ticket I get generic “buck off and solve your problem yourself, its your addons” answer. They probably just copy-paste answers from ChatGPT.
Send them a GDPR deletion request via support.
They legally cannot refuse.
They can refuse to delete the characters, but your ownership of it they can completely delete so you can never get at them again.
You will have 1 month to cancel.
