There is a problem with what you describe. Vault rewards slots with ilvl based on completed (and not TIMED) key level(s).
We do not want to reach a situation that all you have to do is just push a key to max level required (20 now) really early into the season and then just spam 20s without depletion which means key won’t derank from that level and give everyone free loot just by doing a not timed key. And just invite all your friends for a max level weekly no leavers mode.
This can’t work as long as it doesn’t matter if you time or not keys to unlock vault slots just key levels. If they change it to unlock only via TIMED keys a lot of people will QQ as 8 keys then probably won’t be enough and will require more weekly.
Regardless key not depleting shouldn’t be a way to inflate number of people getting Dungeons’ Feat of Strengh or loot from weekly vaults. If they somehow adjust it by increasing level required to keep same percentages like now maybe.
You’re literally just looking at one side of the argument, the one you listed above with the depletion being prevention against bad players inflating their keys as if that’s something that happens in every run.
What about the opposite side of the argument, people bricking and wasting your keys for throwing a fit and getting into idiotic arguments over nothing? I’ve seen more groups fall apart over stupid bs, inflated egos and temper than people realizing they can’t complete the dungeon even close to the timer and just agreeing to stop there.
I agree that removing depletion outright creates other problems, but having it is as, is and has been massively toxic for years now. We either a smart system to gauge what happened (impossible), or to have something like your key being damaged after one failed run, and then depleting after another.
OR at least let us reroll every key once because the last thing I wanna do after depleting a key is that same dungeon again, only at a lower level with worse loot and potentially 0 score to gain.
I wish they were at least doing that like during Legion and BFA when we ended up with 12-13 dungeons by the end. Now we get our 8, we get a mega-dungeon, and rehashes of 4-12 year old content. I don’t mind having old dungeons in M+, I mind getting so few new ones especially because most of them are overturned garbage and are consistently the least fun dungeons of the season.
It’s not a coincidence that old dungeons have been more popular in both S1 and S2 compared to new ones, they weren’t originally designed by sadists.
Indeed and if depletion is removed there is nothing to stop people from constantly kicking others from their groups. Instead of leavers being the issue, being kicked will become the problem.
I believe a (possible, but in a quick-thought-process) solution to this would be to lock high keys behind ilvl, or some kind of entry barrier (like do 10 +15s before unlocking +16-+20s, etc.).
I know just a random quick thought, but it’s not impossible for a player to differentiate: ‘Oh no, I’m not geared/skilled for this,’ to ‘I’m breezing through this by smashing random button on my keyboard’
You give a really valid argument.
I don’t get why the vault still exists. It is such a huge RNG machine. It should be removed and Blizzard should improve the Crest system. I always liked vendors and targetting specific items.
But anyway the vault is 1 item per week. Raiding with M+ & crests system gives loot faster than 1 item per week in my opinion. Add RNG to that item because who knows what will drop and I want BIS stats not just anything
Keys don’t deplete in TGP, and it is exciting to watch. Oh and they go to whatever key they want. That would be much more fun in live as well - you can just push any key you want. Ofc there are drawbacks like dropping keys after 1st wipe - but that is already happening anyways, so it would be less frustrating.
Yeah it starts at 22 actually. That’s what I said. Would be fine to have keys NOT DEPLETE once you reach at least one level above max ilvl rewards (aka 21 now) which is a guarantee that x player won’t run back to back to back a 20 until they time it for portal (which is a reward, 21 is the level you start pushing for fun and score without extra rewards), or carry every friend they have through a 20 for casino 447 reward especially when it’s first or second week without fear of depleting.
This is correct, vault is huge first second even third week if you are able to run 20(s) due to huge ilvl boost plus you can score a max ilvl tier slot which is far better than a random 441 item from m+ that you have to wait catalyst.
Yeah that’s because nothing will fix M+, when M+ itself is the problem at its core, but people don’t realise it yet, because in their view it’s the only content they’re doing and they can’t imagine the game being fun in a different way, since it’s so popular. The reason for its popularity is solely the reward system though and how easy it is compared to raiding for the same reward.
I agree. If you are not a meta class, you dont get picked because people fear that they will not succeed the key. Instead of playing the game you are waiting in queue forever.
