It is sad the abuse people feel the right to give because of the choices of others. I’m wearing it today, was waiting as a gift for me this morning because I have a rolling 6 month sub. I didn’t buy it from the shop (I probably wouldn’t). For me I was ‘free’

We both have our beliefs , mine is that transmog sets that are on the store shouldn’t be a thing thus I don’t need these people in my groups if they support those practices.
And what about the people that have a 6 month rolling sub and got it in the mailbox, like I just did?

I switched to 6 monthly sub due to these rewards. I think they are a good incentive. Also good that they are available in store for those who either miss the time slot or who don’t wish to sub for that long.
I kind of agree with the OP (to a degree) I don’t like the idea of buying such items from a bliz store. But it’s not a major issue as the items are cosmetic in nature, mounts, pets or transmogs. So I don’t buy them in order not to encourage this to becoming too prevalent in this game. But I won’t berate others for choosing to buy something they like the look of. In fact I can see that these people are subsidising the game somewhat…

We’ll see for that , there is always a way to ask if they got it from their subs or not. But if they paid money for it they’re out , simple as that. I don’t agree with those practices.
It’s not the same.
If you were already buying the pen for 1.000.000€ then the car is free. Players that plan on subbing for the next 6 months or are already on a 6 month sub are not paying anythying EXTRA at all, therefore it’s free. Buying on the store, well that’s different entirely, but everyone has the option to get it for free as long as they will be playing for the next 6 months. That part is a choice.
Yet in the very least you semi support it by buying a collectors edition

No, it is free since the price of the sub remains the same. For us that would sub anyway via the 6 month method it is ‘free’

This sort of offer is pretty much a standard business practice on any sector that sells stuff.
Do you go organizing protest marches outside your local supermarket when they offer a free packet of cornflakes of you buy a 5 litre container of milk ?
I’ll give every incentive I can to encourage Blizzard to make more offers like this. what I definitely won’t be doing is following the instructions of some tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist who obviously has no clue as to how the real world works.
