Do we need new modes in wow to keep people playing?

Herro good people,
A quick introduction before I get to the point. I really enjoy SL, I think it’s much better than bfa but besides raiding and m+ there’s nothing really to do for me in the game. Luckily there’s no mandatory grind so I dont have to feel bad about raid logging and just doing few m+ runs a week. I got my fots for timing 15s pretty quickly considering I am only pugging m+ and once I got my mount I did few higher keys but rio score isnt really something I care about a lot so pushing much higher keys like 20-21s is unproductive (to me).

Okay lets get to the next point. There are few things I did in my wow ‘career’ I really enjoyed and have fond memories of. Just to list a few of them: CM in wod, Mage Tower in Legion, Chromie scenario in legion. I really enjoyed them cause you had to be efficient and actually try but at the same time you were rewarded for your effort. I use frost mage transmog from mage tower to this day and I honestly think it’s the sickest piece of transmog along with scythe from antorus ever added to the game. People are crazy about loot scarcity when in reality this loot matters very little and next patch it will become useless. Cosmetics on the other hand are a big part of account progression, something you will always have.

I think most of wow sets and items are really dull and in 2021 blizzard can do so much more to keep our transmogs fresh. Just take a look at poe shop:

Look at all the sets, weapon transmogs, portal cosmetics, spell cosmetics. Why cant we have different demon forms for DHs, different skins for mage portals, various skins for warlock demons, 10 different cast animations for holy priests, why cant we go away from robes for casters and get something like battle mage set. We could cast green frostbolts and blue fireballs and yet we dont have anything like that in the game. Some of the cloak tranmogs added in SL are truly amazing compared to what we are used to but I think blizzard could add much more interesting stuff. (again take a look at poe shop)

Okay I’d like to tackle torghast a bit. I think in theory torghast is an amazing idea but execution was really poor. It’s super boring, doing 8 layers of twisting corridors was just a face roll and since I dont need soul ash anymore there is no way I’ll do torghast until next patch.

I’d like to now combine cosmetics and torghast. I would really love to see dungeons with torghast power ups with scaling difficulty and cosmetic rewards. NOT TIMED THOUGH. Everyone could progress through them at their own pace. You could then buy tons of different cosmetics, spell animations, skins from the vendors to customize your character in ways that are not possible in current wow. Blizzard could also add leaderboards to those dungeons/events and every participant would get something. Top 70% would get something + x, top50% something + x + y and so on. They could also revive old dungeons as we have like 4-5 seasons per expansion. Just let us do something meaningful in the game with good rewards. I honestly think account progression is what keeps people playing. Look at leage of legends. Free skins you can obtain just by playing the game and with every new skin its harder to quit. You want to play more and get more skins. There are endless possibilities to expand content in wow but I feel like we’ve been getting half-finished product for the few expansions.

I’d really like to know what do you think about frogetting about this whole ‘my class identity’ and instead adding content that would expand your customization options to new level.

Yaaaas queeeen full support! I remember making a thread a long time ago in different site asking for new animations to show all casters actually USING THEIR WEAPONS to cast spells with! That way really amazing looking staves, wands etc can be utilized by casters without just sitting on their backs.

Also, major update required on following:

  • Human running animation and overall model
  • Night elf & Nightborne cast animation
  • Dwarf & DID cast animation
  • Tauren & HMT running and cast animation
    etc.

And the idea of Torghast rewarding cosmetic stuff is excellent, since it rewards nothing atm and the Valor vendor was introduced to tackle lack of gear from M+. So Torghast could be a special place where you can obtain unique cosmetic gear sets AND wep skins. So far some cosmetic sets are available via anima farm and dailies farm, but they are just recolors.

I honestly wish Torghast would be a solo-dungeon with lots of more variety.

It should also be specspecific and set to an ilvl for your character so mythic geared dont oneshot it. Like, items rewarded for your spec.
So lets say, outlaw rogue gets cool cosmetic for its class and paladins too. Noone would even praise the paladin because of how easy it is to play one, but people would go “wow, that outlaw rogue got THAT thing. Hes a champ!”

Also, Torghast could be more random with more dimension and better variety of mobs.

Also, Soul Ash could be dropped per X floor and be used on a cosmetic vendor or a vendor that sells materials.

I have lost all respect to this company after seeing Torghast like this, especially since I loved visions. Every single expansion feature is the same. A failure.

I expected isle expedition to be good. It sounded good. But before gear started raining on people. I did a lot of it and got like… I dont know… 1 coin per isle? Sometimes 0.

And that is exactly the reason why I’m not enjoying SL.
I don’t enjoy raiding or M+ so there’s just not enough worthwhile content for me to do (as opposed to Legion and BfA, where there was plenty of that).

It does matter. It’s fun to get loot. Very simple.

Yes, but the quality and desirability of cosmetics is totally subjective.
That’s the main problem with that. What’s awesome for one person is stupid to another.

No thank you. I don’t want Torghast combined with anything. I want Torghast to go away.

More customization is always good imo, but it all depends on that ‘subjective factor’. There’s been 5 endgame sets per armor type in 9.0. You know how many I like for mail (I basically play almost exclusively hunter)? None. Zero.
So any activity that awards me just these cosmetics and nothing else is absolutely not worth doing for me. Just because of my subjective taste.

Torghast doesnt have to drop cosmetics. I’d like to see new modes added to the game that would award them.

look at these two sets and compare them to what we have in wow. casters could become this celestial - mecha looking chad instead of

XDDDDDDDDD wooden owl is my favourite

They tried to replace “mandatory grinds” (which are what kept people playing in the passed) by RNG casino hooks (aka gambling addiction).
IMO it failed miserably and is the number one reason why so many people are quitting and complaining that there’s nothing to do besides the 3 end game activities.
I’d much rather have to go out in the open world to farm gold and mats for consumables than sit around waiting for an RNG box every week with f*** all to do in between besides the same 8 dungeons and single raid over and over and over.
Casino WoW is garbage.

My point exactly…

I don’t like any of the sets in both those pictures.

You might want to grind your butt off for a set like in the first picture, but I would never wear something like that so it holds no value to me whatsoever.

But don’t get me wrong: I’m still for more customization, more sets, more choice, more everything. It just shouldn’t be the ONLY reward for content. Because it doesn’t replace that ‘YEAH I’M STRONGER NOW!’ feeling from upgrades.

yeah but everyone knows you dont like wow but you love whining and thats why you play this game. To spill your grief over the forums on daily basis.
Even Ion knows that Tahra cannot be satisfied. Whenever blizz employes enter their HQ first thing they see on the wall is a huuuge poster with “Have a wonderful and productive day! AND REMEMBER! Dont try to satisfy Tahra” It’s okay. There’re so many other players that would love to do content to obtain something like:

that white set with wings was my first supporter pack I bought and after metamorph league I bought every supporter pack.

Nonsense and insulting.

I definitely can. Legion was super awesome. Best time I had in WoW hands down.

That wasn’t even funny. What were you going for?

Sure. And there’s plenty of stuff that I DO like, but what you’re linking here is NOT it. It’s edgelord stuff. I’m not an edgelord. I have no fragile ego that needs boosting by trying to be bad-azz in a game. :man_shrugging:t4:

Well good for you. Glad you’re enjoying that other game.

More customisation options are always welcome.

But, honestly, it makes me anxious.

I like SL but everything about it feels rushed. Nothing was finished, optimised, balanced, barely any class changes in many cases and so forth. It feels like they run WoW on a bare-minimum effort level.

Adding a cosmetic mode would be lovely, but I fear that it would hurt the other existing systems even more. Say they introduce this, then there’s a big chance that it comes instead of something while it should be in addition to. Since well, they seemingly already lack the time or will to actually finalise core systems of an expansion. I rather see them going back to the basics first before expanding the amount of modes and systems even more.

I’m fairly sure your avatar is under ‘edgelord’ in the dictionary. Yeah I didnt create this thread to argue with you. Try to think abotu community and how blizzard can improve the game instead of usual ‘tahra knows best’

Dude, get off your high horse and look at what I said.
I was agreeing with you, but your dislike for me is blinding you.

Yeah you just make insulting replies. Sure buddy.

More modes would be nice, but we won’t get them. PVP for example could new bgs/modes the most but never get them

Pve got torghast this expansion. but the lack of anima power balancing and every corridor being the same despite being “randomized” and the lack of rewards just makes it tedious after the first few weeks of doing it. But atleast torghast kind of is a new pve mode

Why are you keep linking microtransactions costumization? In PoE nothing has normal appearance only Uniques have somewhat normal looks the rest have to be bought.

Also PoE has almost the same 3 engame activity as wow.

I honestly think the higher-ups would never allow new modes. It would require additional RESOURCES meaning MoOoOney and everyone knows companies make money, they dont spend it :joy_cat:

It doesnt matter where they come from. Focus on the looks and various customizations of your character, spells, utility items and what not. Poe is also f2p so they have to make money somehow.
Poe has 3 end game activities? give me a break. Bossing, mapping for sirus, delving, crafting, beast farming, I mean I cant even list everything poe has to offer. Crafting alone is more complex than most games on the market nowadays. Also your build customization (tree, spells, support spells, combos). That game has soo much content. Also new content every 3 months and new content doesnt invalidate old content. It’s besides the point but you clearly dont know much about poe.

Back on the topic please. More content in wow ples

The problem is that these activities are overlapping so calling them an endgame activity one by one is a bit of a stretch.

True.

Still not endgame content.

The problem is that it does not validate new content either. Half of the playerbase has not set their foot in heist in the previous patch.

Fractured fossils were selling for 4,5 ex last league cause of amount of people fracturing currency grand heist. I was doing 100% delirious scarab burials to supply delvers with sulphite scarabs. Everyone can find something they like and profit from it. We don’t that in wow. Seriously though. What do casual players do in sl if they don’t raid or pvp?
