Do you think the Harronir will be a new playable race?

That’s a fair point, but I don’t like playing a character which is not my gender in a RPG, I guess because I can’t project myself enough into them (whereas in other games I have no problems, it’s just a RPG thing)

Still waiting for Murloc as a playable race!

Fair enough. Each to their own.

I have no such issues; in fact I’m playing a female character in one of the D&D campaigns I’m in. And that’s a lot more ‘RP’ to me than WoW.

A WoW character to me is just a skin; a fantasy for a character with a look I enjoy. I don’t pretend it’s ‘me’. It’s like watching a series; except I get to control the main character and decide how I want to experience it.

And I just in general don’t enjoy the ‘big heroic character’ trope. I’d usually rather play an unassuming looking character who is stronger than they look. I enjoy that trope.

Me too, I always try to create low profile, mundane characters. Like true common adventurers. As for female characters I’ve tried (models and animations are usually better) but I end up abandoning them after a short while

Im not convinced of having infinite playable races.

Especially an “elf” lookalike (they have the Nelf pose, even if they look like trolls).

I mean… at this point its becoming ridiculous really… with so many different races for no reason. And elfs are the most annoying cause there are 2 elf models (Belf and Nelf). To the point where they had to make up H/A races to accommodate inverse models to each faction…

Its just too much at this point…

What I would do is go back to the classic races (H and A races, plus Neutral : pandas and drakthir cause were stuck with them)… Elfs would be just that, Elfs… And no more “allied races” and such…

Simply put : Sub races. You choose dwarf, you have 4 buttons to press… Elfs would have 2 buttons (Nelfs and Shadowelfs for A, Belf and Suramar for H). Like a skin color or tatoos. And depending on what you choose you have a different starting zone.

Also remove restrictions… it sucks so much to say : Oh look a black dwarf with a fire as hair ! SO COOL… NOPE… gotta level up another A first and get rep or whatever…

How sad is that?

DONE.

Oh I agree completely. Most allied races should have just been customization options for the core races.

But that’s another matter completely. I just stated that I find Harronir more interesting than Earthen. Which I do. I simply don’t like the look of those dwarves at all; not even a little bit. And I like dwarves in general.

Those are creatures from the afterlife. I think that makes a big difference.

I´m fairly certain they will. I don’t think it makes much sense to design all of those animations for an NPC-only race…

That said, it wouldn´t be the first time Blizzard invested a significant amount of work into something just to decide against it in the end, that´s just the way game development is. There are thousands of things over the years that had work put into them and were scrapped, which has led to all sorts of interesting theories /conspiracies over the years. Like Frostmourne + Ashbringer being datamined in Vanilla, Pips whistle /ashes od Al’ar, vanilla Azshara as a whole, all the dark portal locations…

Please correct me if I´m wrong, but don’ t both Blood and Void elves already have the customization options in place to be made into high elves?

I hope not. I find them extremely boring to be honest.

I’d much rather have the centaur, myself. :eyes:

I totally agree. They run weird : hopping and dragging their feet.

Female toons (which are the ones I like to play) have disproportionate features that are hard to look at.

Also… FDwarfs with beard? I know canonically according to Tolkien they have beards… but oh man… that looks super ugly !!!

Plus all the gems sticking out…

Why play that dumb race when you have Dark Iron dwarfs. They look so badass in comparison.

I personally don’t like the fire effect in the hair; I wish you could disable that (much like the void elf hair tentacle option). Also: The allied races really need to either be rolled into the base race or be given WAY more options.

Several allied races are really cool, but I’m not playing them with the complete lack of customization they have.

No, way to jump the gun. I’m talking about playing one in an MMO when I have the choice to play male characters instead. I have no issue with certain female protagonists like Aloy from Horizon Zero as an example.

Was just making sure.

Fair enough. I don’t get it; but each to their own.

For me it´s quite simple… I have characters such as male gnome mages and Human paladins that I quasi-self identify with…

Then i have “their” slightly more whimsical alter egos, such as female Nelf DKs or DI Warlocks.

And then I have chars that are neither and are for the most part simply aesthetically pleasing, and these are mostly females, since as a male I simply much prefer looking at female bodies than male ones all day. If you give me a hard choice between Playboy and Playgirl, I´m buying the issue of Playboy, it´s that simple.

That said, when I currently create a new toon, I just click randomize, because if I don´t like it I can chage it in the barbershop at the drop of a hat, and sometimes I just dont… but my days of spending an hour in the char creation screen to make sure I´d still like the toon aethetically in x years ended the day that change was introduced.

And btw, sometimes it´s hilarous entertainment to take a char that looks “beautiful”, go into the barber shop, change race, and witness the absolutely gruesome trainwreck the same choices on the other gender produce… just remember not to click “apply” when you´re done :rofl:

I’m hyped for both.

Another pally ofc

If they give them Paladins I will be making many Dracthyr Paladins but I am not holding out hope tbh. That way they can’t break my heart again.

Same deffo making one. I have every pally bar draeni at highish level

They do, yes, though I’d much rather see High Elves made into their own, distinct race choice rather than have ‘Blood Elf’ or ‘Void Elf’ listed below the character model.

Ah, ok, yeah, I get that.

But, That makes me think… are there actually still any surviving “high” elves out there besides Vereesa?

The ones that stood by Azshara got a permanent aquatic form, the ones that didnt and stuck with Elisande became uncurable mana junkies and kind of helped cause Legion, the ones that said this is all BS and settled in Quel`thalas have ther own addictions to deal with, and the ones that somehow avoided being affected all of that and hung out with Alleria became the void elves…

Or am I missing somebody? Only ones I can think of might be the Shendra’Lar, the last descendants (or possibly even still some of the OGs themselves) of the original High elf mages… The ones that decided to abuse and exploit the mechanics of the Well of Eternity, which caused the GMs aka. Burning Legion to come down and start wrecking fools and swinging banhammers… :stuck_out_tongue:

PS: But when I look at that timeline, as well as that of the night elves: yeah, everytime there was a crucial decision to be made, the person making it was probably as high as a druid smoking his T1 shoulders :rofl:

I highly, highly, highly doubt it. If they had any intention of doing this, they would’ve already. They wouldn’t be giving Horde Dwarves.

Earthen are Kul Tirans/Zandalari of this expansion, they’ve got a whole continent + Capital all about them. Haronir are minor not important race in one zone.

Yes, so were the Vulpera, but fan demand was huge, so Blizzard delivered even though it obviously wasn’t the initial plan. I highly doubt the same will happen with Haronir since the game simply isn’t that popular as it was back then.
