RWF just saves them money. I mean, in no way can Blizzard test the Mythic Raid in a way that all those RWF guilds are doing. They can just lean back, see how it unfolds, and tweak from there.
In that way, RWF consists of just a bunch of self-assigned test bunnies. No more, no less.

It’s a Hype thing really. Although I’m not sure how much hype they get these days. I barely hear about it anymore. I’ve never really been that interested in RWF but I used to hear about it on the forums or maybe on youtube.
I think Mythic raids should be RWF only. Once this race is won Mythic should close for the season.
Heroic should be buffed and made 10/25 and be the real form of raiding that most guilds aspire to.
Yeah lets waste resources by designing something after the top 2 guilds. That totally worked out the last time. Not.
This would be the biggest waste of money imaginable if you design something that closes after a singular guild clears it. That would be like Ultimate Raids closing after one guild cleared it as well if we compare it to FF (doing that because thats the only real competition WoW has anyway)
So Mythic raiding post HoF nerfs. Most guilds don’t reach the bosses where the nerfs are aimed at by the time the nerfs hit anyway. At least usually. This tier was an exception with the first 4 being pinatas while the following 4 were all 200+ pull bosses although Ovinaxx and Kyveza should have been 70 pull bosses each max.
They do that now.
Once RWF is done they start nerfing it so that regular guilds who don’t have split runs and gear funnelling and top notch rigs and full time practice sessions can actually make progress. Assuming regular guilds can actually recruit their 20 man teams.
Meanwhile Heroic isn’t serving any real niche in game, it’s not apirational raiding, it’s not challenging enough.
So make Heroic be the true riaiding and Mythic is for Show / Hype.

but I doubt anyone is paying them directly.
Which also kind of makes sense, as Blizzard figured out quite early (literally in OG MC) that players were miles ahead of them, performance wise… the devs literally couldn´t even get past the first 2 giants

RWF has been dead since Paragon quit.
Just the free advertising. The event is completely community run
