Over the past months, and spending weeks in Zandalar since the dawn of the expansion, we encountered the spirit of a diseased red drake who is still anchored into this world as he failed an assignment of the Red Dragonflight since the Deathwing days.
That dude became a prominent NPC that appears in our events, sometimes for guidance, sometimes just for the agents to interact with, and he developed an actual characteristics that us alongside our guild events guests get a kick out off.
Now, I am against the Dragon RP in general for power level reasons, but seeing this guy develop a character without being OP since you know, he's dead... I am starting to make peace with the notion. >.>
We all know the main issues with Dragon RPers ain't exactly the power aspect even though it is one... It's the ERP. Especially the red ones...
Duskwoods was dark times yo during WoD.

I am not too bothered by power levels myself. The only dragon I have encountered in recent days is an undercover one in Boralus who appears from time to time, and I have seen no problems so far.

You've peaked my curiosity. What makes red dragons stand out above the others as ERP sinners

What kind of roleplay is it people are doing where power levels are such an issue?

Probably because of Alexstrasza & the fact that the red dragonflight stands for "Life".
Granted the amount of good dragon rp'ers I've met isn't high, or even the amount of dragon rp'ers I've met in general, but there are some good ones.
One comes to mind, which does happen to be a red, that does it well in my opinion. She's open about who she is, and when she's along for events she definetly doesn't always steal the spotlight due to powerlevel, and she's actually really fun to have along at times!
So yeah, contrary to popular belief, there are a few good ones out there! ( Not many though admittedly)

I have known a Blue who played it fairly well. It was on another server though.
I know someone that plays a blue dragon, she's only ever used her power once (everyone was rolling 1's and 2's kind of situation) She had to step in to save everyone as we where getting minced. She doesn't tell anyone she's a dragon but it's not exactly a secret. It's just not something she screams from the rooftops. Also a lot of the reason some people play the secretive dragon is people instantly label you bad rp if you turn out to be a dragon. It's easier to just keep it as a thing among the people you rp with regularly and keep it secret from people you have random rp with.

All the random lords, archmages and commanders are any different?
Like any RP it has it's issues, but there is always good among the bad.
I'm not sure what point your trying to make here, or what you're trying to disprove me on. I'm not talking about Dragon RP relative to how it stacks up against other people playing over roles, I'm not weighting one against the other.
I'm talking about dragon RP relative to my own experience with them, and wether or not those issues exists among lords, commamders and mages, doesn't change a thing.
I mean perhaps you're pointing out that it is a sympton of piwer RP in general, and not just dragon RPers, which I would agree with.
But regardless of if the issue exists elsewhere, it doesn't lessen its impact where you are exposed to it, and we're not talking about ghose other titles spread among RP, we're talking about dragons.
I think he meant, as you said, that it´s symptom of power RP in general.
After all, the only difference between RPer who creates a noble to get some sort of leverage over other characters "becuz me have army, FER TEH NERTH" and RPer who creates a dragon to get some sort of leverage over other characters "becuz me a dragon, me stronk" is that said dragon RPer went for magical rather than political power RP.
The analogy between noble, archmage, commander, leader among the Church and dragon is IMO pretty solid. All of these roles can offer certain amount of leverage over other characters, but there is no problem with RPing them as long as they are done well (to have such character because you are interested in the character itself), so why should dragon RP be any different?

I like this, and it is what I would do if I ever decided to RP a dragon as well.
I understand the stigma of dragon RP due to all kinds of reasons, but I believe many people can do it right, if given a chance.
All of the "dragon rp is badrp" or "why RP a dragon instead of a goblin" is just out of place. It appears no more controversial to me than RPing a demon hunter or something similar. No, people don't have to be special snowflakes to RP a dragon - much like people that come up with original concepts instead of sticking to stereotypical characters.
tbh Iâd rather rp with a dragon than a goblin
So many people are trying to make super powerful characters and then there is me, playing a magic Hermit Homeless guy whose ultimate power is to annoy people.
Am I doing this whole RP thing wrong?

No?
I have this character, who is extremely seasoned and somewhat powerful and crafty, and then I have my initiate priestess, my inexperienced hunter, my literally civilian flower selling girl with no combat prowess whatsoever, my Illidari, my Ebon Blade, my 7th Legion Operative foot soldier...
You can RP more than one concept and to varying degrees of powers; but for instance you can't RP an Illidari or an Ebon Blade as weak or anything less than a combat machine or super soldier level. It's what they are!
p.s: Your "annoying" super power should be certainly be put to the taste against those of my female worgen druid's. If you are as "powerful" as you claim, we would break the scales.

This. I've been playing a dragon character since early Mists of Pandaria (so roughly 6-7 years now) and only my close friends know that he is one due to the stigma that often comes with draconic roleplay.
I've never met a dragon RPer - good job to all those hidden dragons out there :D

Well, of course you didn´t, dragons don´t like meeting with necromancers (even though they are not that good and only capable of raising something that was dead for just few days).
I am god among men and women.
RP the races that are playable.
