On Wednesday, August 28, we’re going to deploy a hotfix that we want to precede with some advance notice.
Along with all of the new Hero Talents and updates to classes and specializations in The War Within, the power values of some Dragonflight tier set bonuses have remained relevant in level 80 end-game content. We don’t want anyone to feel obligated to go do the previous expansion’s content for upgrades. We do want players to graduate out of their Dragonflight gear with the new content.
On Wednesday, we will disable all Dragonflight tier set bonuses when your character reaches level 80. They will still aid you throughout leveling, but will cease to function when your character hits level 80.
"We don’t want anyone to feel obligated to go do the previous expansion’s content for upgrades.
You cannot. The gear is only good because it is from awakened raids which are no longer available. Farming the previous raids for gear nets you low ilvl non-awakened gear that the set bonuses do not make up for.
We all know and love the famous RPG mechanic “Get weaker as you gain levels”.
Did anybody ever stop and think that perhaps becoming gradually weaker, and finally losing an insane amount of power when reaching max level, is something that feels really really bad? As in it feels really really bad for a lvl 80 to need 20 seconds for a mob that a lvl 70 character oneshots?
This is still an RPG. Gaining power through levels is still something that should be a thing, how is it that each expansion we get weaker and weaker with each level?
