Dreamsurge

There were lots of issues with time rifts at the start. They fixed them within the first few days.

why not start with that fix before release then XD?

I’ve no idea if they work in the same way. Rifts used instances for the final boss. Dreamsurges seem to be in the open world.

I would guess more shards are needed.

The problem is not everyone participates in the ptr realm so it can be that it worked fine on ptr, on live more people can cause problems.

Goodness. I had no idea wow was so popular. Clearly this is the most successful game / patch / event in all of modern history. So much so everyone in the world bought just under 20 accounts.

Wow

This sound suspiciously like time rifts….

Are raid groups breaking them again?

Logged in and did the intro quest and a little bit of this and that and then it just… ended?

I’m not sure what the content here is?

Like it just… it took me an hour to clear the whole patch? (at least the parts I have access to without making another character)

And then there’s a whole lot of dragon riding races. How many? EVERY SINGLE ONE, AGAIN, TWICE.

And they’re not even new, they’re just applying new rules to existing ones. What, is it really that hard to place an NPC and a couple dozen rings and a script to start it?

Blergh.

Not having fun at all. There’s just nothing here.

Guess I should go back to M+, but everyone I know has quit. I’m going to have to reach out to old friends I haven’t talked to in nearly a decade who are on my friends list…

awkward. :frowning:

Oh no.
The ā€˜rift’ part of this event is more like those pre-launch elemental invasions, kinda.
Stuff spawns around a portal. You fill a bar. Bigger mob spawns. Kill mob. Done.

There are other things happening across the zone where the dreamsurges take place though.

I’m fearful that these events will be dead within a week though; because they’re not that worthwhile to do; at least the time rifts had lots of different stuff to get.

This will probably be a ā€˜it’ll be busy on reset day and deserted the rest of the week’ type thng.

Yes… but why did those issues arise? At what point did a company the size of Blizzard not think they needed to drop a team of 100+ testers on a rift and find out whether the server would actually deal with it?

And tbh, I think a lot of the solution has been less people bothering to show up. Many are satisfied with one/week now, massively reducing the number of people in the average rift.

So yeah, if Dreamsurges are failing due to load - why can’t Blizzard manage to find 100+ people to simultaneously do one in beta? It’s not quite right. WoW earns well over 10 million (insert currency) per month and can’t manage proper testing. Put some damn bots in there. Surely by now the ā€œisland AIā€ is capable of running these events? Wasn’t that the whole point, to try and perfect a player-replacement? (If not, why not and what was it for?)

Dreamsurge could have done better and it takes only few minutes to complete event. It is Rift Time 2.0 so what about to give us new idea instead of Dreamsurge? Please, it is getting old like repeat…

It’s really really bad and lazy addition

What is WRONG with the devs that they persist with these obviously bad and anti-fun pseudo-group ā€œeventsā€? Do they hate us? Do they hate the game?

I can come up with no theory about why they started on this doomed path, much less why they continue with it.

The pre-event had lots of rewards but the same gameplay and I spent all it 5 minutes with it.

These things are just BORING. BORING BORING BORING.

And you know what doesn’t help? The fact that I 1-shot everything and sometimes even 1-shot a whole pack, and then move on to doing the big bad boss with 8 million health designed for like 10 people and solo it.

And I’m not that good. The rewards and enemies are just super undertuned. It’s around 45 item levels behind mythic gear near the end of the season. This gear was good a week after season 1 came out. And the challenge of the encounters are tuned around this.

There’s also plenty of stuff for players to do around that level range to improve their characters.

What are they DOING?! Jeeze.

I’m not making any excuses for Blizzard, I was merely pointing out that issues also existed with the Time Rifts at the start, the post I responded to implied that Rifts worked fine.

Every time we have anything in the open world. Lag is the biggest problem.

Oh don’t get me wrong, my frustration is with Blizzard, not the people who point out there are always problems!

There are indeed always problems. Which, for a company that makes this much money really shouldn’t be the case. Load testing matters, and yet it is never apparently done.

I do feel like Blizz don’t really have any good ideas about how to do dynamic tuning. Sure sometimes mob HP goes up as more players get into combat, but they don’t seem to actually deal any more damage or gain any mechanics. Everything just ends up as a bullet sponge.

It was Asmongolds fault

Its not too bad on my realm…only lag is when you try and loot and as long as I wait til most people have looted then I dont get a problem.

I actually like the Dreamsurges.
ok, its not ground breaking content with fabulous gear rewards but its another decent way to gear alts/catch up without too much effort.
Gives you some nice cosmetic rewards like pets and mounts.
Also acts as a little refresh for the usual zone content which have gotten stale this far into an expansion.
Plus it advances the story towards the Emerald Dream which it seems to be where we are heading next.

All in all I think its well done…you just have to remember that its mid game filler content and not supposed to knock your socks off!!LOL

I don’t want dynamic scaling either.

I just want stuff for my character to do that isn’t faceroll. I was hoping there’d be something, anything, but there just isn’t.

Not how I feel at all but I do think there are enough people who feel like you that maybe some sort of Mage Tower 2.0 would of been a good idea.
I mean general content should be easy enough for all players but there is still room for some sort of seperate challenge mode for people who like that sort of thing.

I haven’t really understood what am I supposed to do in this event, but judging from the comments I won’t miss anything by skipping it right?
