Exiles Reach Experience

No, alliance get to ride a giant boar while horde get to shoot a death gun while flying on a drone.

True, but why not make the quest instead being about flying on a giant boar while shooting a gun?

Hard to argue with that one.

The reason is simple: The plan is to make a giant boar. While trying, you accidentally make one explode.

Alliance (gnome) NPC:

Yikes! That won’t do at all… here, try again.

Horde (goblin) NPC:

Oh ho! Who needs a giant boar when we can do THAT? Here, try it again.

We once did have. Nothing like an advanced course, but something.

I suppose we still do have it, but it’s pretty well hidden.

I spent a lot of time playing around in Exile’s Reach when it first appeared. Although I think it is alright as an experience for completely new players it is far too linear for me to enjoy running through it now. I also dislike how they use phasing during it. At certain points mobs that you’ve fought through previously just disappear, never to be seen again. And despite giving you some freedom to explore the coastline of the island there is very little there (the Little Mermaid joke aside) or access to what looks to be interesting areas are blocked by invisible walls.

Just curious, but did you solo the bear? And did you /dance with Gorgroth?

I really dislike how that scenario discourages exploration. You fight through a linear series of corridors. Then once you get outside you get teleported back into the prison if you head to the right rather than the left.

Very true. Everything you said I can agree with tbh. I really dislike the BFA dungeons when leveling. And the race identity you mention is totally true. They could send you to discover your identity, or give more of a background as to whats happened in past expansions, even if its just a more meaningful informative cut scene when you leave Exiles Reach.

True, the BFA quests arent the best, nor is the story. The link from exiles reach to start in BFA is good though. But I agree. Maybe they should give options on where you can start, even as a new player. Because I think if you only just sign up, you have to do BFA you cant choose the older expansions, I might be wrong there… but maybe after exiles reach it should let you decide exactly what expansion you want to level through, the way timewalking works, but with more of an indepth explanation into whats happened at that point in time in the story. And once youve done one, you can choose to do the next. And every zone scales with your level. So if players really only want to play the storylines and quest, they can do.

I can see your point, especially with BFA having the two separate islands essentially. But I guess even in Classic there was segregation of the factions, Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. They had Night Elves and Undead within the opposite factions island, which was pretty good to be fair. You could experience running into the opposite faction and thinking “Oh no! Run!” Haha! But they could have done something like that with the BFA Islands, you have the War Campaign, but if 1/3 of each island was opposite faction it could make things more interesting.

There was another player there and we killed the bear together. And I only /waved at the ogre haha, the dance was optional and he didnt look in the mood…
