The armour you’ll have by the end of Exile’s Reach is BfA season 1 aspirant armour. Maybe they’ll change it but right now it’s stuff we already have.
It might have just washed ashore there.

They absolutely do! I love simplistic designs, none of the over the top stuff we get in end game.
Maybe I’m reading too much into it, considering they also have lordareon and (what looks like) a silver hand shield. Gives a man fuel for speculation though…
After all the shields in this game, almost any shield looks great. The only time they actually tried to make a nice shield was the movie special shield and some of the legion tank artifacts. And you couldn’t even mog most of what’s available until very high level.
These look better than anything introduced in BFA, WoD and Cata. Only some of the legion artifacts and a couple MoP weapons were as good.
I want to wield a WEAPON. Not a slab of flesh with an eye on it, or a piece of coral with a flipper on it. The only weapons that even barely looked like weapons in BFA were Uldir weapons, and even those had ridiculous proportions, colors, and glowed like a kid’s toy.

It’s refreshing to see more simple weapons, and really wish we could have also gotten some more simple armors too. Like the BFA civilian clothing.

WTB moggable monk’s starting gear ty.
The overprettied monk staff has a real competition in Exile’s Reach’s bamboo staves. I miss the simple belts tho.
The thing I miss the most from monks that really needs to be usable by all classes are the empty hand fists. Love those so much more than all those frankly RIDICULOUS fist models in the game.

I hope those round shields have a reasonable size. I already fell in love with the Lordaeron Shield though
WTB all starting gear as transmoggable.
Belves, Draenei, Worgen, Pandaren all got some great looking outfits which are just white or only found on npcs.

I’ve just realised that these “humble” weapons must be a godsend to RPers. No longer having to choose between low-res and OTT.

Do you mean for others than monk? If so not sure that’s possible.
I have the whole set moggable including the hat. Got all these sets during the War of Thorns event. Not sure if rolling an AR nets you them as they start with green items that look similar in most slots (bar head and shoulders).
OT loving the two handed mauls and simple bo staff. It is actually hard to find a good simple huge maul model at current. Really hope these are moggables.
I wish they would let Chromie send us there, same she does for the levelling experience, so we wouldn’t have to create new characters. I love those weapons and can’t wait to get them

I don’t like simplistic design personally. Like, at all. They are not realistic, they just look bad, in my opinion.

That was not the point, the point was that even though they are simplistic, they are not also realistic. I do like some realistic stuff, but this one is simplistic and not realistic.

Warcraft has always had a cartoonish style too it, but I will admit it is starting to look a tad out of place now that we are getting realistic textures and lighting. If it’s not for you that’s a shame, hopefully there will be some stuff more to your liking in SL proper.
I just think wow style fits high fantasy weapon a lot better. For example things like doomhammer artifact appearance i have at the moment, i think artifacts were some of the best mogs in the game.
Artifacts were indeed a high point in this game’s art, but remember these are low-level items. You wouldn’t give a character thas’dorath before he/she could ride a mount would you?
IMO, given the choice between a simplistic and cartoonish sword or a fleshy metal sword with eyes that is so thick it’s basically a long-headed mace, I’d choose the simple one. Would be nice if we could have more in the sweet spot that is artifacts, but alas I’m doubtful.
Yea, i agree with that point, this is just low lvl equipment, it makes no sense to make it really high fantasy.
