For a lot of these people it seems to have become partisanship, if you read their posts.
You mention a lot of great reasons for why a person wouldn’t want to switch sides, but at the end there you prove my point, there are also some people who don’t have those things.
I am not proposing that factions will be 50/50 and both sides will get insta queues the day after free transfer is implemented, just informing you guys that I am one person that would actually like to switch and I saw atleast one other in this thread that would switch, im sure there are a couple more players who would switch too…
This one thing wouldn’t fix the problem entirely ofc, it will probably never be fixed 100%, but it could only make the situation better, don’t you agree?
/Edit ; changed “a lot of people” to “some people”.
Aah the devs know we would like to continue playing Alliance, so they give Horde more and more opportunities so that people around us weighted pros and cons and started leaving allready.
yes agreed, stating things like “NOBODY” or “EVERYBODY” is stupid, like you said. however I think saying “most people” is probably correct when thinking about who will not faction change if it was possible.
in any case, it probably doesnt require much to make the situation a bit better. if the top pvp tryhard streamers start rolling ally, they will bring pvp people with them (fanboys etc) and probably help the ques a bit. we don’t need 50% of the whole horde playerbase rolling ally. even a chunk of the pvp-only people will already make a small difference to the ques, while not solving the faction imbalance.
yes yes, my fellow alliance player. riot against blizzard, they dumb and they wrong and they bad and evil >:(… and most of all… THEY KNOW NOTHING! what you personally feel is the correct solution to everything. feelings over data and logic
Do you think the chances of anyone switching (including streamers) would increase or decrease if a free transfer from horde to alliance would be implemented?
I don’t get why this one thing that could be helpful is something to argue against… It could ONLY make the situation better…
Is there something about a free transfer that could actually be harmful in any kind of way you think? Maybe I am missing something…
well obviously it would increase people switching over. would be dumb to argue against it. have I argued against it or why did you bring it up? im not sure tbh as i post a lot here. anyway, all I’m saying is that it wont 100% solve the problem but it will make it a bit better
“rerolling” fully however is an idiotic response as ain’t nobody got the time to level again (even 58-70), gear again, farm epic flyer again, farm reps again etc. but with a faction change… why not?
Yeah, many horde have been vocal about not wanting to faction change. HvH with free alliance to horde transfer would be a solution but it would also be a message that blizz gave up on faction balance, it is not like they cared anyway.
Then they will have a choice: not changing faction OR instant queues. Choice is what RPGs are all about. Blizzard themselves are always going on about it. Or they could just implement hvh and put the entire burden of opportunity cost on alliance, and that cost is big, harder grouping, farming, questing, worse racials, i.e. every other aspect of choosing faction that’s not bg queues.
if faction change was available for free I would like to use it but probably couldn’t, at least on my main, as im fairly sure my guild wouldn’t change with me. cba looking for new arena teammates and a new raid spot in a new guild etc.
so it kind of solves the situation but there are a lot of IFs in this equation which need to be met for people to actually jump over. probably what I’d do is level a pvp only alt and transfer that over.
also there is another game design problem/limitation with faction change: most people have alts, some have the whole 10 character slots filled. TBC does not support having different factions on the same realm on the same account. so if you wanted to transfer you would need to transfer every character you have - which will then kill the idea of me transfering my alt. also kind of kills the paid version of character transfer option as well as who wants to pay for 5+ character transfers? this limitation gets lifted in wotlk but probably won’t in TBC
Which ones? 1% Dodge, 10 nature resist or “out of combat only, static, maybe stealth”?
Compare that to 10% Stam or 20% stun resist they are just trash.
If you’re alliance on my server, you have a choice: transfer servers OR every aspect of the game except bg queues will be unplayable. Why shouldn’t the people responsible for this problem also have to make the same choice, which will not only fix their own queue issues, but also the faction imbalance issue? Instead of rewarding the perpetrators and punishing the victims even more.
the “people” responsible for this problem are blizzard’s game designers. it is bad game design to create factions which need to be balanced in order to have some parts of the game in a playable state, while failing to actually keep it balanced. but what would you know about game design outside of whining about how crappy ally racials are (which is also false btw)
you cannot blame the players for picking the more appealing faction. if you don’t want players picking horde make horde even more ugly and bad and whatnot. but if you make horde look cool and edgy and have decent racials, obviously the majority will go there, what did you think would happen? like, hello brain? people, for the most part (not allys), are rational thinkers. they won’t pick the crappy faction if they can pick a better faction.
oh and also before you bring up the “B-B-BUT YOU KNEW!!!” argument, I will tell you that no. no horde knew we would have frigging 1 hour ques. 30minutes I could buy, but 1hours? nope. also most of us did not roll horde due to “muh op racials”, we were already horde in vanilla and didn’t even know tbc was coming up
No Alliance knew Blizzard would stay passive about growing disbalance, grabbing as many Horde boosts to their bank as they could and only when losing money from unsubing over weighted money from boosts they gave away HvH Merc mode 2.0 on steroids that no Alliance could know to be a thing.
