All the loading screens killed me too. Quests are actually fun as an idea, but once you start porting around its just Talk with that one → port → go back → port → now go talk with that one → port and every port = loading screen, loading screen loading screen and more loading screens
Just dont play it like you play WoW. Unlike WoW it isn’t all about end game. There is so much to do, just pace yourself ad set limits.

Yeah, they need to fix this. They were fine when the game had to run on PS3, but those days are over.

Well the whole thing, journey to get there, the additional content on offer. It depends on what kind of player you are really and whether it appeals to you.
Right now as its the end of the expansion I’m just leveling all the classes and enjoying it. The rotations (at least openers) are more complicated than wow so its fun to learn those. There is different content you can do for leveling, there is solo or grouped content for leveling.
I personally play FF as it gives me stuff i want to do rather than sitting AFK in WoW waiting. FF is more my time sink than WoW where I currently only enjoy the raids (where a big part of that enjoyment is the people I play with).
The “journey” was big for me because i love the story of the game.
Everyone gets a different experience from MMOs and have their own interests.
I would not approach FFXIV like WoW. If you have played other FFs or other more story driven games i would think of it more like those with the addition of being an MMO.
I also should say the game isn’t meant to be 100% uptime on sub if you don’t want it to be. you could complete what you want from what is now available and then come back for patch content.

Thanks for that really helpful answer. It’s helped me to understand that it isn’t for me. For me, ‘content’ is what you do to level (if finances don’t stretch to buying a character boost) and gear up for end game. It isn’t an end in itself.
YES! Hundreds of loading screens and I HATE CINEMATICS!!! And the talk to this person and port and go to talk to that one now port there and there and there and there. Now port back. Oh and port there again… ARGGGGGGGG

Well it does have end game, but for me its not the same as WoW end game (raids). But for me having this opinion, you might find another person who disagrees!
hehe yeah, i even had nostalgia for wows go kill 20 of those quests…like i was begging for someone to send me to kill something!
