You are approaching the subject from a different stand point. I am not going to be in a raid all the time. And even if I was with every other class in the game always, why would I even then put 3 points in this talent? I would not, because with totems, blessings and shadow priests you get lot of mana regen.
This is about fire mage mana issues when they are not getting supported by different classes. In this scenario, you will run out of mana very quickly and MoE does absolutely nothing to help with the issue. It is simply too weak of a talent to put any points in.
From your silly perspective, there has never been any legitimate issues in the game because hey, get a shadow priest to help you, or a paladin! Or get gear from the Black Temple, that will solve your mana issues!

You normally donât have a spriest as a fire mage, or at least itâs not something you can take for granted. In fact, as you might notice, I didnât count me in my calcs above. The only external buffs I counted are JoW, GBoW and Mana Spring totem. And yes you will have these 100% of the time in a 25m setting, and often in a 10m setting as well. You wonât in a 5m or solo setting, but thereâs no such a thing as a dungeon boss normally lasting 4+ minutes , and your mana regen is pretty good as it is in solo scenarios.
And yes, without MoE, Clearcasting etc you WILL have mana issues in raids, even with pala buffs and shaman totems. At least to the point where you canât afford using Destro Pots anywhere as often
Was Classic a finished game? Or did Blizzard recently launch fresh Classic? There might come a similar relaunch of TBC where these sort of issues might get fixed.
