As it is hinted that time is the 7th unseen force that created the WOW universe, I would say the jailer has gone back or forward in time, perhaps he is going to undo whatever happened to put the Aribiter in the place he or she is in. I would say that we will have to figure out a way to wield and control time to stop him at this point.
There are obviously some ways to save souls, after all we are freeing souls weekly from the Maw in that quest, so they are going somewhere. Perhaps we will liberate the Maw with all of the assaults we are doing to rescue souls and stop them from pouring into the Maw. especially if the Jailer has left the Maw for good.
I think weâll go to the Sepulcher in 9.2. Iâm joining the crowd on that one.
Itâll be a raid instance. Remember those cloaked figures on the side of The Dark Portal which also had the Oribos sign on top of it? Thatâs the First Ones. Theyâll be inside. The Jailer will have subjugated them to his will when we arrive. Weâll have to defeat them and whatever other defense systems there might be there to try and reach The Jailer.
Anduin will be the final boss. Weâre going to free him from The Jailerâs grasp. Sylvanas will help us. Sheâs all about hope now.
The Jailer will nonchalantly depart with the key to some reorigination machine.
Thereâs a new zone as well. The Dragon Isles (could be some place else. Iâm not sure). Weâll need more help! From The Void. The enemy of Death! The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
I think weâre going to build reputation with all those cultists and worshippers weâve been killing over the past many years, because we need to get Nâzothâs essence out of the blade heâs stuck in and otherwise bring all his Old God pals back to life to help stop The Jailer. Maybe get some twilight dragons up and running and such.
Weâre going to usher in The Hour of Twilight.
The end cinematic for 9.2 is The Jailer going to Silithus. Iâm all about the sword theory!
So The Jailer is going to turn Sargerasâ sword into a giant mourneblade and suck Azerothâs World Soul into it and subjugate all of Azeroth under his domination whilst heâs setting up his reorigination machine. It runs on World Soul, obviously. Plus, The Jailerâs appearance is obviously missing a sword!
At the same time our dark ritual will reach its conclusion and the Old Gods will be resurrected and the Void is going to start pouring in.
And thatâs whatâs going to happen in the cinematic. A real shocker!
So in patch 9.3 weâre going to try and stop The Jailer before he reoriginates all of reality.
Anduin and Sylvanas are totally going to team up and be all hope-inspiring and weâre all going to play for team Nâzoth and totally be his champions⌠as we kind of already are.
Silithus is going to be the zone. Blizzard didnât do all that work rebuilding the place for nothing! Itâs going to be swarming with Mawsworn and weâre going to beat 'em up and try to get to the giant hole in the ground, which leads to that final Titan facility that M.O.T.H.E.R mentioned. Itâs like Argus and Antorus version 2.0.
That Titan facility will be the raid obviously. The Titans obviously wanted to keep it hidden and locked away. The Jailer has The World Soul in his sword. The reorigination doomsday device is there. Heâs got the key in the ignition. We have to stop him before itâs too late!
How do you stop a guy whoâs Titan++ in power level? Well it might help if youâre aided by 4 Old Gods!
So weâre going to beat him, because itâs WoW and itâs fantasy and we always beat the bad guy and win!
âŚOr maybe we lose.
And then the 9.3 cinematic is going to show Azerothâs World Soul becoming a Titan.
Thatâs sort of my prediction (or well⌠I just thought it up right now, but Iâm sticking to it!).
Thatâs actually interesting. What do you think is the connection here?
Shouldnât they be like way above his power level? Or itâs about some titan structures or systems of some kind?
Haha good point. I think the sword theory is the most interesting so far and Iâm totally on board with it. Like everyone conveniently forgot about the giant stabbing sword and it would fit his domination theme.
There was a whisper of Illgynoth about it wasnât it? At the hour of her third death she will usher in our coming? Could it be related to this?
I like your theory a lot. I sure hope at least some of it will prove real.
If you think about it, Blizzard has not removed immortality. These souls die in the world of the living but are alive in the world of the dead. Everyone in the SL is actually dead and are reborn again based on where they go in terms of the covenants. Then they take the form of their respective covenant.
And even with souls going straight to The Maw now, remember we are rescuing souls from The Maw and Torghast and those rescued souls are sent to their proper places based on your covenant. Think about the weekly save 20 souls quests you get.
So the immortality aspect may not be what we think of immortality in our human world, but in SL the souls who go to the covnants are immortal they are âaliveâ in the Shadowlands.
Well the snake on The Dark Portal is in the shape of the infinity sign, which is the same symbol that Oribos uses everywhere and which was the pattern on the ball that the jailer took from The Arbiter.
So those cloaked figures on the side of The Dark Portal are obviously going to be related somehow. Iâm going to say that they are The First Ones, because Blizzard would feel really clever if they can tie all of this together with possessed-Medivhâs portal design.
Oh theyâre already dead when we get there and have been for ages.
I fully expect The Sepulcher to be a raid inspired by Tutankhamunâs tomb or something. A grave chamber with hidden treasures and traps and such.
The Jailer is going to reanimate the corpses of The First Ones in true mummy style, and weâre going to have to kill them.
The Eternal Ones are going to help us, and theyâre each going to die in the process.
In that whole discussion about whatâs going to happen to the Shadowlands, I think Blizzard wants to end with a new structure. So thereâs some irony in the characters called The Eternal Ones beingâŚnot eternal! I think Blizzard intends for Draka, Prince Renethal, Uther, and maybe Arthas, to run the show afterward.
YesâŚmaybe. And thereâs the whole Murozond dialogue as well. I mean, the ending of Cataclysm is basically us choosing an unknown future that Murozond deemed worse than The End Times. Thatâs The Hour of Twilight and thatâs what weâre headed toward. Thatâs what Ilâgynoth and Nâzoth have basically set us up for.
If Blizzard can tie all that up and wrap a nice little bow on it, I think theyâd feel pretty good about themselves.
To be honest I have no idea how theyâll close this story, but I reeeally hope 9.2 is the Elune patch.
Like⌠Zooval is free, he got his powers back, and our only hope is to turn to Elune for help, and go to her realm. We realize thatâs sheâs under direct attack from the Drust and/or Devourers or whatever, thatâs why the Night Warrior was so weak and thatâs why she couldnât prevent the burning of Teldrassil.
So the 9.2 raid is Thros, and after we helped Elune to get rid of these problems, we go full force with her against Zooval in 9.3. Or something like that.
Yes, you die in material plane and go to SL to be reborn and reformed. But if you as a reborn soul die in SL you die for good - those in SL refer to it as True Death. It ends only with oblivion and being unmade into nothing.
My beef is with logical lapsus - if souls are killable than after some time (no matters how long) they all are bound to die eventually. With new souls steady stream from mortal plane it allows machine of death to work regardless. It only sucks for each person.
So how do we explain the Foresaken in this instance?
For example they were humans or other beings killed, then raised from the dead. So the point at which they were dead, where they ever sent to be judged by the Aribiter before the events of SL and before they were raised again?
Or where they raised from the dead so quickly that they did not have time to go through the judging process with the Arbiter? If this is the case, then what is the time frame between the time one dies and is judged by the Arbiter? And what happens to a person while they are waiting to be judged? Are they simply in limbo? Of course I am talking events pre SL as the sy stem is broken now and all souls pour into The Maw, until we rescue them.
These are questions that need answering, because either this is a major plot hole by Blizzard now or we may find out in later patches with Sylvannas and Nathanos, or the jailer may have an army waiting for him in Azeroth, in the form of the scourge and the Foresaken, willing to do his bidding.
Ha âwhat about undead/ressurected peopleâ isnt the only logical problem with Shadowlands. But let me stop you there. Dont overthink this whole expansion. It was designed to feed on our âwhen will we visit the Shadowlandsâ hype and at the same time be an opportiunity to implement long dead characters for cheap sentimental value.
It is best enjoyed as a simple story of going to Underworld to stop death god from messing things up. Nothing more. Sadly there is no point asking for answers to MANY questions and confusions because there are no answers. Moreover, the hastly made up answers they give in some live Q&A panels only make things worse. Like the nonsense about souls being woven from many threads for example.
So unless you enjoy speculating and making up your own explenations, just focus on the fancy cinematics and characters (big and small) personal drama. Sorry.
Sighs but one can dream that one day we get an expansion again with a complete, detailed, and interesting story instead of having to second and triple guess motives.
