Which doesn’t mean it won’t come back and bother you again in a few more hours or tomorrow. This problem would in the past sometime last for months on end (first reported around '22 or earlier). I remember missing raid times because sometimes I couldn’t get the game to launch the game for half an hour, until eventually 10 different wows decided to startup at the same time at random and crash my PC.
Will add my name to the list of people having issues. However if I wait 5-10 minutes after clicking play the game will just load up.

Same here …sadly
I closed the update agent in taskmanager and 8 copies of the loaded game insta poped (I had clicked start so many times)
obviously im not sure this will work for anyone else

I had same issue, it worked after about 10 mins idling in windows tasks.

Same here, but at some point multiple istance of the game decided to boot up even if i killed em on the Task lol

Same for me.
Game played fine yesterday, other than video crashes/reloads since 11.1.7, but today clicking Play doesn’t work.
Edit: I tried launching Cata Classic which also failed but then after around 5 minutes a launch video for Pandaria Classic loaded. After that I weas able to load retail.
same exact issue, letting it run, force-closing and other ideas posted here did not work.
Had the same problem. Did a scan and repair, after that it launched.

Damn, really? It worked for me – it took a tiny bit to load but it managed it. Really do hope the issues is resolved soon.

Same here this morning.
I thought I was losing my sanity when I was (sure I was) clicking Play, walking away to make a cuppa… coming back, clicking Play again, walking back off, and then wondering if I ever clicked play to start with… Glad its not just me at least…
Hi, i found a solution, do a system restart before this, because all the previous attempts to start the game will pop up.
Go to battlenet launcher and click settings on wow , and check “Additional command line arguments” , ant put this line there: -dx11
The game starts with an battle net error from directx, but works fine in-game.
