So this is happening to me too. But I’ve noticed some strang behaviour with the Battle.net client. So, when this first happens it does create a “World of Warcraft” background process in the task manager that is under the Battle.net process. It doesn’t do anything and as soon as you exit the Battle.net client/app the World of Warcraft process is moved to the other background processes. This repeates for every time you click the “play” button no matter how many times you restart the Battle.net app. Now, after a while when you’ve restarted Battle.net maybe around 5 times your Battle.net app will now say “bla bla bla agent, went to sleep and something about waking up before letting you see your games and whatnot”. When you see this message in the app the game will now instantly launch as normal. There is something the app is doing with the authentication or “drm” portion of launching the game that is messing up.
Also, don’t cap Unholy DK that is a war crime and literally no one likes this way of balancing any spec

Having this issue too, thought it was just me, wouldn’t let me do a repair and scan even

Soooo still not fixed i guess.
It still doesn’t work properly. I pressed the Play button and nothing happened at first. After 2 minutes the game started to load.
Today I booted up my PC, clicked “Play”, but the game doesn’t start, made couple of “Scan/Repair” things and game launched as usual.
B-u-u-ut… after couple of hours and portal hoping, game just stuck in the loading screen when i took portal to Stormwind from Hyjal, so i did Alt+f4.
Seems like the problem has become worse than yesterday for me.
Same problem here. Happened today and yesterday as well. Click play and then go do chores until the game decides to start.
And, for the 3rd day, the problem remains.

I would like to add that if I do a Scan & Repair first, game will launch as expected, but that is kinda annoying because it takes extra 5 to 10min, on average.
Same issue here/ Started randomly few days ago. Scan & Repair helps for several hours, until PC is restarted and then it does not launch again

Same here TWW also Classic same problem game not run after press play button.
I remember the era when you loaded games from cassette tapes, crazy that they loaded faster than WoW in 2025.
I’d make the ‘small indie company’ meme but a small indie company would be bankrupt in a week if it took 5 minutes of waiting just to get into their game.

Getting same issue for a second day, shutdown pc late last night now the game won’t boot up, same as yesterday morning.

Did this two days ago, it did nothing.
From my experience, if you scan+repair right away the game works. If you close battle.net launcher after this the problem returns, so a stupid workaround for me has been to not close the application after repairing it. I do shut down my PC for the night so I have to do the repair daily now, and it takes 10-15min.
Note that you -can close the game- but not the launcher.

Hey,
I pressed play in the client, but nothing happens. Just “Launching” then back to Play-button again. Without ANY other thing happening. No opening of the game at all. No obvious crash.
Thanks dude! This is really works!
Same issue here. Scan and repair fixes the issue only temporarily.
my computer only goes for sleep mode, keeps programs running on background, the issue still returns

Exact same issue on a Mac, so it’s not just PC users. Scan and Repair (which takes ages to even start) fixes temporarily, as others have found.
