Game not launching

Amazing that what a clearly Bnet ↔ infrastructure related issue and not related to the game other than to actually start launching can take days to fix.

Hi. Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this yet but I’ve had this issue as well and what worked for me was to disconnect then reconnect to the internet. The game launched right after the reconnecting for me. Hope this works for someone else as well.

What works for me is closing the battlenet app immidiately after pressing play

Issue is still there. Game is not launching.

Also, this is EU problem only.

No need to wait 10 minutes if it does not start in a minute check task manager see if the game is even there and utilizing your hardware if its not chances are its bugged again, i wonder if generating a dmp file in this state would proof Blizzard helpful in providing diagnostics needed to troubleshoot the issue.

It’s this…

Same issue here, have to run “Scan and repair” after each computer reboot or else the game will not launch after clicking “Play”.

Can confirm this has fully resolved the issue here.

When I do this with classic it automatically opens the bnet launcher for me. It doesn’t open the game automatically where you type on your details.

Not so useless after all, eh?!

I can’t use a service I paid for, for multiple days because of the lack of work or poor management from the seller , please fix this and stop the radio silence … it’s amazing how blizzard can do this and no one cares … if netflix /amazon/ any google service crash for mutiple days people are upset. in wow no one cares even if they are supplying a paid service and they do not deliver the minimum , a working product

and it all happens in the biggest FOMO month ever in wow

Aside from the log in issue, from the statement “randomly zoning into nothingness” make me think half your problems are you playing on a potato. The only person I know that has that issue is playing with a old a*s HDD. No, don’t try to make up some specs for your PC.

I did scan and repair it worked for 1 day then the next day was back to not lunching… my PC is a new build so I know the issues isn’t on my end but this is getting beyond a joke every time Blizzard brings out a new patch things break in a big way you would think they would not send out bug out patches but it looks like they don’t really care considering how long it takes to fix things.

Most likely this wont be fixed till next patch day

It didn’t work for me sadly

I have some Channel errors in Event Viewer related with Battle.net as well.

Same problem here, game is refusing to launch, tried reinstalling it, it worked fine right after reinstalling, started PC up today and wanted to play and its doing it again and I cant launch the game.

ah so i am not the only one, i noticed everytime i try to launch it just wont but there is an instance waiting to be launched when i open the battlenet tab in task manager then after 5 to 10 minutes it seems to finaly launch…

Well here’s my 2 cents with some tech support background.

  • Each time you click “play” it will launch an executable, visable in your task manager but it will go dead initially. Do not click play multiple times because then you’ll just have multiple executables that some say will launch after some time.
  • The standard “delete cache, WTF, etc folders” does not work.
  • Updating/downgrading drivers does not work.
  • Running as Administrator does not work.
  • Using the “-dx11” or similar extension does not work.
  • Changing/disabling firewall settings does not work.
  • Changing/disabling anti-virus setting does not work.

So far the only things that seem to work are the following:

  • Waiting a random amount of time after clicking play the game will eventually load (others have stated this)
  • Clicking play and closing via task manager between 10 and 20 times the game will load (others have stated this)
  • What worked for me was running a Scan & Repair in Battle.net. Upon completion this seemed to trigger an update. After installing the update the game loaded like normal.

Whether or not my fix will remain a fix next time I don’t know, but there’s some info for saving some time and hopefully a fix for you too.

Lok’tar.

Do hard reset of bnet app by uninstalling the said app (not the game) and then manually delete all Bnet and Blizzard folders (except game installation folder) in following directories:
%ProgramData%
%Program Files (x86)%
%Local%
Install fresh bnet app.

Changing firewall settings does work, as explained here, if you block outgoing connections to the specific range of blizzard servers that are causing this problem :
