luckily for you you can just stop gearing when you are in full hc dungeons gear.
then you will have the same eperience as wolk has - aka 1 week of gameplay and that all if you dont raid.

The analogy doesn’t fit.
You can simply go and buy broccoli or candy/ice cream, you’re not working hard to be able to get one and randomly gaining the other from similar activities.
This is a video game and you are talking about working hard.
This is the entire flaw in your thinking and you don´t even get it.
Nothing in WoW is hard work. It is a video game, I know gamers are weirdos who consider themself hardcore (because they need to rationalize to themselves that they are not just wasting their time and never achieving anything of significance).
Gaming is all just chasing dopamine. Might as well make the dopamine chase good (which WoW isn´t doing very well atm, therefore the awful participation / sub numbers).
I think gearing is very simple, if you just play the game normally. I just upgrade everything to be the highest ilvl I can be and end of story. It’s not rocket science. You also can’t really waste crests in general, unless you wait for vault, which would be a weird mentality. This system is only complicated for hardcore players and for everyone else the answer is always to upgrade, unless you craft on that slot
Crafting materials having different quality feels like a big flop and is quite annoying.
But the gearing system is the best they ever had in my opinion.
The crafting orders is awesome, we can now replace any gear we want with whatever stats we desire if we wasn’t lucky to get drops and it helps the crafters. I don’t like crafting myself so I appreciate players that does put in the effort and have no problem to give them some extra gold for it unless they are to greedy.
The crafting system also forces us to do content we otherwise would be to lazy to do and it’s fun to get more powerful gear.
Ofc gear needs different mats since it would be wrong to upgrade gear you get from quests with items from raids and vice versa.
There’s no flaw, just your own misinterpretation of what I said. I forgive you.
This is too casual and boring like all your suggestions.
Honestly I think this season’s gearing system is the best I’ve ever seen.
The only down side was I was allowed to grind my heart out, crank my gear up to nearly 440, and have been forced to admit that I suck because I suck
I also enjoy the current gearing system and honestly, I am not sure whats to so complex about it. But ok, to each their own I guess.
Loving the fact that you if you get an upgrade but not a bis item then you can still upgrade them with crests and then just upgrade for free(almost, got a symbolic flightstone cost) the bis item from that slot. So you are not feeling bad that you are wasting crests on a non-bis item.
I don’t think so. It is not that complicated. There are many RPG games out there these days that use identical or similar upgrading systems for their gear features.
Does WoW have a lot? Yes. It is complicated for someone new to gaming? Yes. Is it complicated to the average player? Not really (might need a bit of reading but can get into it fast)
It’s a good system. I just hope they listen to the right people and don’t over causualise wow removing any sort of challenge complexity or skill. The upgrade system is fairly self explanatory
ye all those casuals runing +20 and mythic raids because of 437 gear from +11 farm
My only grumble with the system is how much you need to upgrade, it’s very simple when you get the hang of it. Decided to play an alt and got 427, need over 60 wryms/aspects to get 440ish. Thats gonna be about 55x +11 underrots, and 20x +16 noped straight outa it. 75 runs to get 427-440 seems like torture lol. All ready done it on 2 charas.
I think they have acknowledged that they have made players do a farm at +11 instead of the valor farm in +2. Not sure they are going to do anything about it.
One week I started off by doing twelve 11+ runs, fortunately I’m past all that now but I appreciate if I started an alt, you get to do it all over again. I often join friends for their 11+ spam so it’s not like I get to escape it completely
Having to go back key levels is very strange too. Get an item drop in a +11 and you need multiple drakes, so have to go back to farm a few 7s, to get that item up to wyrms and continue going past +11s.
The drop rate of lower crests is deffo too few from keys. Go do a normal raid and come out with 100 for a quick hour blast. Or go pug 8x keys with all the travel time and waiting around it takes sooo much longer.
The systems ok, but as per usual pretty aweful for alts. You’re gonna have 100+ hours worth of keys to do to get some what caught up.
The 2-10 keys are getting more empty now. I have to work harder and harder to get some full groups on my alts.
Wait are you agreeing or disagreeing I honestly can’t tell?
is it that bad thing though ?
a) most of "farmers " re 440 + by now and dont farm
b) i personaly find it refreshing to be able to chill out and just have fun farming a bit in lower keys (though i dont do that much because i do 4 dungeons max per alt anyway )
c) it bring together community and people hwo otherwise wouldnt meet
d) it helps with progress - are you stuck on 16/17 ? well go grind some 11-12 get better gear and push a bit further with progress
not everything has to be about tryharding in game.
let tryhards tryhard and others to just have fun .
and regarding alts -alts are not mains. blizzard should be adamant about this.
if someone wants to have 13 x 440 + toons - gl but game shouldnt be speed up because of those people.
its ok to just do 1 dungeon a week on alts. my alts which do this are already 420 + and doing 12-13 keys because of how much gear comes from world content.
my lowest geared alt is 416 itlv rogue and mage but thats mainly because they were unlucky with some world pieces like 376 head on mage (not enough flightstones to upgae cba to farm them , 379 ring on rogue ) which i do next to nothing on ( 1 m+ + researchers and fyrak )
true - but thats side effect of world gear being really potent this season.
and its ok - still plenty of those run go - this is casual difficulty so its ok if tryhards dont go there. less toxicity this way .
Gearing is only complicated if you’re playing at high level and need to optimise your character.
For most of the playerbase (and especially new players), the standard advice of ‘equip your highest ilvl items’ is as complicated as it needs to get.
