I know them, I am a member of them. I am gladly helping there for those who need help with their keys.
The only reason I am there is not just because I need to find people to run keys, but I help them out. I love to help them, I was there and like them once, I’ve met good people (unlike the people here) and they thought me, how to run a key in M+. So I pay back, I help friends, guildies and random peoples in communities like No Pressure.
Goes around what? I only join runs if I able to focus fully on those 30 mins. Not go in, “oh sry. Dinner time. Let me go /afk for 30 mins” when the keystone already is in.
If you consider this as an accepted norm. Yeah…then maybe its best for everyone if you go solo into delves…
Why run a hard key without having ever seen the dungeon? Why not learn on the low end like we all do? Why keep people in a dungeon for an hour because you keep wiping your group? Why do you call people elitists when they call you out on wiping the group full time? Imagine having 5 people like you in that +8. Is that dungeon finishable? The answer is no. You just want an unpaid boost.
Yes, I am, sure. I am just giving them their own medicine. I am the best among them, they are not worthy to talk to me normally, unable, untalented. I require more brain cells and skills from people who want to talk to me.
Maybe I should decline their replies, yeah, why don’t I? I am awesome.
xoxo
It is not “their” fault tho. If the system allows them to reach that point easily, why wouldn’t they? They are also trying to play the game, and enjoy the game as much as any of you.
If this is the case, Blizzard is one to blame, they need to rework the whole M+ escalation maybe. Maybe, make it a little less fast than it is now. I think they think what I think, skill requirement is not that high up to -at least- 8 but it escalates more from there, so that’s why reaching around an 8 key is easier compared to reaching 10 and above after an 8 key.
It is not their fault. You sign up for content. You are responsible.
Without doing basic mechanics a +8 is not finishable. Yes, i am speaking from experience. 4 out of 5 players not knowing what to do means not finishable.
Take responsibility.
We have to learn from +2 too. No we are not elitists.
Then play the game like we do, instead of relying on us boosting you for free.
Let’s check the possibilities in case of sign-ups.
1- They are trying to sneak into your key, if they are not good enough on ilvl or RIO, you are most likely declining them. If you invite them, it is on you, isn’t it?
2- If their iLVL is good enough and RIO is not suspicious, they are most likely boosted. Yeah, there are some signs of it for you can identify a boosted toon but they can sneak in with less focus on their stats for any reason. And they f up mechanics, ruin your key, they leave immediately.
In that case, it is not your fault. It’s both Blizzard’s and the boosting community’s fault. Even though it is not 100% possible to deal with boosting, it is Blizzard’s game, they have to come up with solutions. Right?
3- Again, they can have a good enough iLVL and RIO, but they can be honest about being new to the game and/or M+ scene. They are working on their way up, gearing up while doing that, they can still screw up the mechanics. Who is at fault here? Neither of you in my opinion.
There is also another option, the key is not yours but someone else’s, in that case, there is nothing much to do.
I am still not convinced about the way you guys describe “bad” and “good” players. These are all situational and relative… You can be at stake as well, in regards to being bad on some keys. I believe you guys are so harsh on new players. I have never meant trolls and other people with mental/psychological issues. I am pretty sure, you all have been there and made those mistakes on higher keys that you shouldn’t be on at some point but of course, judging people as anonymous identities.
I am underlining, that I am all about PUG groups, not full-stacked friends group. These are all completely different aspects.
We are not talking about mistakes. We talk about not doing any basic mechanic. Because you have never been in the dungeon ever before.
For your information; we all are new players every season. That is why we start at the bottom. We do not go into +8 without ever seen the dungeon before.
We are very welcoming for new players. We try to get them on voice, on low keys and try to explain the mechanics even.
I also failed to explain this as well.
Getting distracted and missing an interrupt or two is an honest mistake. Anyone can make them(me included).
Plainly ignoring a boss mechanic - for example. Dawnbreaker 1st boss not mounting up and getting away from the “watch out, this big dark aoe will kill you after she is done with the long cast”. If a player somehow got into a +10 and fails on a …heroic(maybe its already on normal diff, not sure) mechanic then, I wont blame anyone from simply bailing from that key.
But apparently, asking for a basic boss knowledge for a +10(which is well beyond, learning +2/+3 keys) is “elitist” of me. We should all just “shup up” and give them the free boost.
Unless it rewards Myth track gear for completing 11, I don’t see the point to be honest.
The struggle is not to get Gilded (even more now with the change in crest transfers), the struggle is to get Myth track gear.
Not that I’m bothered a lot to not drop Myth gear. But limiting it to 10+ completion and weekly vault is a huge stop for me to try harder in M+ content.
I have never ever said, anywhere, you should give them a boost. Besides the fact boosting is the most stupid thing a person can do in this game, It will also not help them, it will not improve them. I am trying to tell and honestly asking to be more understanding.
I mean I have convinced a friend of mine to start playing WoW after all these years, and he did decide to give it a chance. After the leveling phase and general mechanics of the game, I told him about what M+ is, and what we do. (He is not a stranger but the last xpac he played was WoTLK). He said ok, we got him a key from Lidormi, a +2. I told him the basics, how to apply, how to start your key, what is a depleted key, what is a timed key and all…
As it was very late, I told him that we could run some keys and I could show him the aspects of M+, etc. And the day after, when I approached him, he came to me and said I have a +6 key now. He did run 4 keys, the first one wasn’t timed as he had no idea what to do, and people left the key while insulting him. On the second key he listed, he said, people have seen that he is clueless and they helped them. They told him “These are our alts, we can help you. It is just a +2 key, don’t worry about depletion” and they told him everything he should know as a beginner. They timed the key for +1, and on 3rd run, he scored another +1 with a different pug group, finally on the fourth run he scored +2 to make the key +6.
This guy has never seen an M+ dungeon before, yet he still managed to hit +6 after 4 attempts. I really don’t count his first run as the people insulted him and left, so let’s say in 3 runs, with a little help from good people. I am pretty sure he screwed up many things, as he also stated that he kept dying and dying and dying, but he scored +1, +1 and +2 very swiftly.
And I have never said they should not know the basics. This friend of mine had me when starting, and by luck, he stumbled upon good people on his solo attempts. Think about other alternatives, I told him what it is bla bla and told him we could run some M+ dungeons the next day, he decided to give it a go alone again, people kept leaving his keys after they realized he was a newbie (like the people in his first attempt). How could he learn? If everyone refuses to help a newbie, even without any insults, they will not get any better. You can say, “Am I the one who should teach every newbie” and I would understand that, then you should start running higher keys as stumbling upon newbie chance is lower there. Like 11 and above…
And yes, I am sorry if it keeps offending you but what you keep saying is commanding, elitist, and snobbish. I can be a jerk with my tone of telling things but at least I am honest, I am more understanding than any of you and I can accept that I was like them once, when I was first starting and was a total stranger to M+. I have been insulted many times, and even though I apologized, people like you kept harassing me. I am not buying, the “we help people” thing because of that. Neither of you sounds like a helping kind of person. (And before you accuse me of it, yes I am biased toward this specific matter) Well I hope, you are really helping. One can only hope…
Biggest nonsense i have ever read. You do not know me. You do not know what i am doing and trying to get people through a dungeon they are not ready for. You have absolutely no idea of my endless effort to keep people motivated in a trainwreck dungeon where i am the only one who knows the basic mechancis.
Yes, you read it right. The BASIC mechanics. On +10’s even. I run dungeons that take over hours just for these apparently NEW players in +10’s.
And no, i also enjoy playing alts. I am not good enough to just play +11’s and up on those. I also want a normal enjoyable playing experience without all those people literally asking for free boosts. Especially me as a healer they make my life in the game completely miserable where i have to play like a professional to compensate.
Get lost with your assumptions and insults.
This is me.
And you know; it is on a +2 too. Not on a +8.
That is exactly my point.
Tsjoh already beat me to it so I won’t repeat what was already said.
All I want to add is. Even if the guy is a newbie or what ever. Fo Heavens sake… communicate it then. Say it at the start that you are new, you might make mistakes and so forth. Saying nothing and hoping “nobody will notice me failing every mechanic and doing less dps than a holy priest” is nothing more than taking advantage of 4 other people and hoping for a free boost. And then comes the villain in your show - Big bad villain Lynlia who will not tolerate this.
To sum it up. I believe myself of a helpful person and will provide if somebody asks for it. BUT I will not be used to piggy-back on and taken for a free ride.
