And what of things like your precious black scarab, which were much easier to obtain in SoD?
The best solution is 0. Offering people a free lvl58 boost instead of a lvl85 boost on MoP would also be an valid option.

Wasnât easier for me. I did it the old way with the help of my guild before they started giving away rep for free at invasions. Also the questchain is just bad and the game would benefit greatly if it was greatly simplified and/or reworked. But thatâs beside the point.
Yeah, great idea. For the first time in the gameâs 20 year old history take away peopleâs ability to continue developing their chars. Some players, including me, will just stop playing. Many others will stop trusting the devs because they blatantly violate their own promices and treat their customersâ time and effort with disrespect
The elites are much easier to solo on SoD and they still gave twice as much rep as to what they did in anniversay; so it was still easier for you.
Youjumped on a server that you knew was seasonal and was essentially a testing ground; you donât move your beta characters on to live servers either.
Oh no. Meanwhile, if you move your SoD character over and ruin other peopleâs experiences, some of those might quit.
They made no such promise.
Yes they did. The only reason why I kept playing and putting in effort was the assurance that our characters will migrate. Check the other thread, it features a direct quote by Aggrend.
Only in your imagined overexaggerated scenario with made up problems
Quite the mardy one, arenât we?
Youâre one to talk about made up problems.
No, they didnât. They said your characters werenât going to get deleted (like beta, PTR characterc etc) but they were unsure as to what was going to happen to them.
I kept playing and putting in effort because I was enjoying myself. Playing for fun, who knew.
Iâve read that quote. Itâs not my fault you assumed that would mean youâd get to impede on other players; I read it as meaning my character wasnât going to get deleted and lost to the nether.
Your âmigrationâ is to SoD era. Enjoy.
Quote:
âThere will 100% be a place where characters can migrate once the season endsâ
The quote says MIGRATE. Migration means CHANGE OF REALM. Keeping our characters alive on the same realm is NOT migration.
I really tried not to be rude, but I do not deem it reasonable to dance around explaining 5 year old level of logic to an adult. I will not reply to you any further.
Yes? And when SoD properly ends, weâll all be able to MIGRATE to the same SoD-era realm; not to a completely different version of the game.
Iâm sorry you thought you could use SoD as an easier way of skipping anniversary; thatâs entirely on you.
Stop being wrong and apply some actual logic and thought, then.
There are 2 Phases between now and TBC. Well three actually if we count Pre-patch. That means weâd be transferred to at most AQ raiding Anniversary where Lotus and consumables are much more valuable.
Can you actually read the title?
It says âtransfer to TBC Anniversaryâ, not âtransfer to AQ Anniversaryâ
TBC Anniversary is not going to be out for at least next few months. If they do freaking transfers they should do them now to avoid chances for âindustriousâ players to take advantage of the gesture.
Pretty sure they solved this issue long ago. AFAIR in situations like this they transfer the copy of your character that they premade in advance months ago, not the actual character as it is right now. Not that it is a big issue anyways
No, only if your inventory/bank and gold full reset
I agree and disagree.
With the idea of transferring characters, like others have said, it is too much of an issue both technically and in-game wise. Imagen 1000s of new players just turning up on your servers with new gold to destroy your server economy.
All max level, in BiS gear, fast mounts, able to start farming materials easily etc. I guess a lot of this could be avoided if you literally waited until the week before the TBC release so that gold value diminishes + your gear is on par with many others. But still I can imagen why players on Anni servers would hate this and I respect that.
On the other hand, I would love to back and play TBC, Iâm kinda done with Vanilla, played Classic at launch, played SoM, played SoD I just donât want to do it again, especially the extra slow leveling. Iâve enjoyed it, leveled like 50 characters to 60 over many years.
But in TBC Classic my guild had pointless drama and fell apart and I just gave up on it. So going back and playing TBC would be nice, but I wonât because I canât bring myself to level a new toon through vanilla content again.
Solution? Just give me a level 60 boost on Anni servers like they are doing with Cata. Just dump me in the main faction city is terrible questing greens and 50g so I can walk through the dark portal and start playing.
Again, I can see Anni players not liking this, free boosts in a vanilla style game mode, you leveled up slowly etc, so I completely understand why blizz wonât do this. But sadly that just means my sub is cancelled as soon as my guild stops raiding in SoD.
Delete AQ mounts and ranks too; they were easier to get on SoD and itâs just not fair on the anniversary screw to let people bring them in from SoD.
How is this a solution? Levelling to 60 is not a problem, itâs easy even in Vanilla. Itâs like graduating from middle school: just a little annoying, anyone can do it and there is no value in it.
The whole point of a transfer is keeping things that actually require effort, time and commitment like Atiesh, legendary weapons, mounts etc.
All things that were much easier to obtain in SoD which simply isnât fair to the anniversary crew.
But youâve made it clear that you donât care about other people, itâs all âme me me I want I want I wantâ.
To be fair these things arenât as brain dead hard as some of yâall make them out to be, you just need time to do it. Make your own raid team, make friends. Then Scarab Lord and legendaries arenât as hard to get, if you can invest the time. Which Vanilla was always about.
One thing though, legendary Ashbringer is much harder to get than regular Ashbringer. Just saying.
Too bad, thatâs not gonna happen.
i donât see how you can justify keeping all your goodies coming from a fun server like SOD.
The rep grind for the Brood of Nozdormu was halved, the elites were soloable thanks to player power and there was extra ways of rep gained added in time for people to get their black mount. SoDâs made it MUCH easier.
You can get an Atiesh every 1.5 weeks in SoD, as opposed to 4 months in Classic if youâre lucky.
Time wise? Not really. Corrupted Ashbringer in Classic was a rare drop and youâd have to fight half the raid for it. While SoDâs version requires more personal responsibility, it is much more common. In a couple weeks, every warrior, paladin and hunter will have one.
I have Ashbringer over on soon-to-be-MoP and hardly ever see people with one anymore. I see at least 5 the moment I log into SoD; thereâs 4 in my guild alone; 5 tonight. Maybe 6 if we get lucky with drops on irons.
The legendary ashbringer also wouldnât get transferred; itâs got a completely different item ID to the original corrupted ashbringer; Itâs also stronger than any weapon available in TBC.
Just ignore him, he doesnât understand basic logic and also seems to be unable to read.
In general ânot fairâ is one of the stupidest arguments possible. AQ 20 is unfair to people who worked for months to get MC gear. TBC is unfair to people who played Vanilla because it is easier to level to 60 in TBC. Wrath is unfair because you can solo kill ZG bosses while people in Vanilla would spend hours gathering raids to get the mounts. Pandaria boost for killing Balnazar is unfair because levelling and gearing a character in Cata is harder than getting boosted in SoD. SoM transfer to Wrath was unfair because the rep requirement for Scarab Lord in SoM was cut in half.
You cannot make game dev decisions based on arbitrary fairness, otherwise the game would have died years ago. Some of the accomplishments lose their value over time, thatâs just how it is and you sign up for it by playing the game
