there are plenty of streamers, like the people that are in method and alot of other players in higher end guilds that give some of the most useful feedback, because they have a much better understanding of the game as a whole, so you cannot just say they dont beta test properly, because i have seen it happening
1 and 2.
Sell point bros.
Not me for sure
But those streamers you mention i.e. method, etc are above all gamers, and then streamers. Thereâs difference between clowns like Asmon, who is bad in this game and has not a single clue about modern wow, and then someone like Method players or those doing high end M+ keys.
I donât think it really matters who gets access and who doesnât since we will still have sites like MMO-Champions and WoWHead providing info through datamining. It will probably be enough for most people to just look at the news posts and determine whether the things added are good or bad and then go to the forums and provide feedback.
True, but there are many people out there (myself included), that would just crawl for new personal xperince, rather read or watch someone else.
People do tend to forget that Alpha ainât Beta (and Beta ainât Release).
Alpha might crash you to desktop or get your character stuck forever on a loading screen. It might delete all your inventory, or perma-break you items. You donât want an invite to that nonsense for the sake of pure curiosity, and it is only sensible for Blizz to release it to a small crowd of people who can actually publicise it a bit and will not moan on forums because itâs unstable, imbalanced, and with things that canât be completed.
(Frankly I donât even want an invite to Beta. You only get to play an expansion fresh once. Donât waste that feel on a throwaway. Trust someone who got Cataclysm Beta and wished they hadnât
)
Canât argue with that.
Still good thing to invite Wowhead to datamine everything and actually provide a changelog and description of existing systems like covenant trees and abilities, Holinka class changes etc.
and yet im guessing that those âclownsâ would still be able to give better feedback than most of the regular players as they still have a better udnerstanding of the game as a whole than most of the playerbase, or at least for the specific classes that they play, just because they put on a character for their stream it doesnt mean thats what they are actually like.
considering that literally everyone and their dog was invited to the mop beta, meaning that the majority of the playerbase was able to play it, what did that lead to, a bunch of idiots mounting up and standing on quest givers not allowing people to play and the worst balanced start of an expansion in history because all the feedback they got from the general players was completely useless
And then go to forums and rant to the devs until they fix it
Why would you play Alpha or Beta version of a new expansion, when you cant keep anything earned there (mogs, mounts, gear, etc)? Waste of time, IMO
yeah its not even worth inviting the casual playerbase, they dont understand enough of the game to get a dungeon done efficiently, so how are they supposed to understand a class and give valuable feedback to improve things, they will just whine that their class isnt good enough
i would still say that its worth, i tend to try out new characters in new expansions and im never certain if its going to be something that i enjoy, so i played the BFA beta to test somethings out and play a couple of specs/classes so that i knew which characters to prep for pre patch and get professions organised on properly for when the expansion released, but its not like people are playing alpha to farm for mounts and mogs anyway
But wouldnt you be pre-bored of the expansion? With all the farm and things.
Ever heard âknowledge is powerâ?
who farms on beta? all i did on bfa beta was level through a couple of zones on different toons, to get a feel for what classes/specs that i enjoyed the playstyle for. the beta isnt there for farming things because thats a complete waste of time. its there for you to test the new systems/class changes and provide feedback so that the devs can attempt to balance things
Arent testing diff characters/professions a part of the boring waiting for a new patch time - 3-4 months? You have a plenty of time after they release the actual expansion ![]()
in a sense yes, but if you play on beta you actually get to test the new stuff, and not the old stuff that will be outdated when the pre patch hits, just gives some extra time to make sure you have made the correct decision, like at the end of WoD i liked the idea of playing a DK but then i played it on legion alpha and didnt like it that much with the changes and the artifact weapon, so i found out that i would rather play something else, and i didnt end up wasting a bunch of time when the expansion released having to relevel a new character
Streamers, famed slayer and maybe family&friends, because they benefit most from an alpha/beta test, and on the other hand this is a benefit for Blizzard, too.
