Well it was fun whilst it lasted but its time to move on i guess farewell!- ,someone in blizzard is laughing at us all i think!
Iāve lost over 15 years collected (valuable) herbs, alchemy recipes and now u tell me u dont have a way to restore the missing items??!! Really??
Well, thatās it, iāve canceled my subscription. I donāt know for how long, but it really felt good to state my reasons in the āother reasonā part of the cancel subscription form. This time my money is not going to Blizzard on the billing date.
I see from the comments that quite a few people think as I do: That they could recover the items if they really tried.
I could be wrong, but I think they are considering this only affecting a small amount of people and requiring a big amount of resources to deal with properly. Can we make a script to do this all with minimal effort. No? Well tell them we cant do it then.
As they dragged their heels on dealing with it for so long, it makes me wonder if there were backups they could have used and now these have been written over. I would be surprised if there were not any backups of the guild banks at all, but I guess in theory what is there could be compared to in/out logs. Though that would be stupid if the logs expire after a certain time and if they donāt expire then a restore should still be possible from that?
Itās never going to happen, but I would like someone in the actual development team to provide detail about why they cant provide a restore for people affected. Clearly state that they have no backups of the bank contents to restore from and the reason why they have a design that retains no backups of bank contents.
Iām really saddened to think that the answer could well be there arenāt enough people affected to make it worth their while allocating addition staff and time to resolving this. The original person tasked with solving this could well have a solution, but when brought to the bosses was told we donāt have the resources for that move on to something else
Iām the same. When I first started playing TWW I was really enjoying it. That first look when you arrived at the entrance to Hallowfall was absolutely stunning and I just sat there for ages looking at the view. Iād fly around and think āwow, this is awesomeā ā¦ the graphics guys did an amazing job.
Now ā¦ I still see these things, and briefly Iām impressed, and then I just feel sad. Itās like a form of bereavement. I can enjoy it, for a brief moment, and then the sadness starts up.
And itās not, in my case, the sadness for things lost, itās sadness for the broken trust. Itās been building for a while ā¦ started when I was on a dead realm for over a decade and Blizzard promised to connect it with others and then broke that promise. It continued eroding as anything to do with guilds got gradually more and more broken, with no reaction from Blizzard.
Now itās just gone. Iām currently playing WoW for āthe momentā and for my guild, but I canāt muster up that much enthusiasm any more - normally when thereās a new mount, or a pet sale on, Iād be tempted to buy something ā¦ I didnāt even LOOK. Just couldnāt.
Currently itās still my āgo toā game ā¦ not least because of my guild members ā¦ but if something new comes along, Iāll be seriously considering it. Iāve paid my subscription non-stop since early 2007 ā¦ I missed out on the ārewardā for playing since Vanilla by a matter of a week or so. Iāve bought pets and mounts from the shop. Iāve bought 6 month and yearly subscriptions and Iāve kept people playing the game who would have otherwise quit, when they joined our guild.
Iām a drop in the ocean to Blizzard - I donāt count or matter - I know that. But it still all feels wrong and like a betrayal.
my complete bank is empty, 7 tabs, full of stuff, nearly 2 decades of stuff, pets, bags, cards, equip, stuff for reknown and a lot of more, nearly all tabs completely full. Till now I did not get any mail or stuff back. I lost my complete bank, 7 tabs full of stuff. this is absolutely not acceptable!!!
This is the feeling that many here now have, abandoned to their fate by their beloved company.
A thing to note is, that none of the ābotters, farming sites, token farmers or alike has any issuesā āblizzards own fat cows for milking microtransactionsā
This let down by blizzard to some of their most caring customers over many many a years is DISGUSTING.
And had it not been in gaming, this would have caused an outrage in public papers and in the news and most likely any government would have to interfere and force the company in charge of this MASSIVE fail to redeem their customers in meaningful ways.

A response to an earlier message I posted here
My latest ticket to Blizz (2 days ago).
Good morning
It is now Thursday and I still wanted to respond to the previous message. But I waited until the lethargy, disbelief and anger had subsided a bit.
I can understand that your hands are tied. But youāre not offering me anything, just waiting for the next ārecoveryā wave. I have no confidence in that. I have read the forums both NA and EU. And Iām just shocked at how your company is picking this up and handling this. There are rumors that top guilds and well-known streamers got their lost items back, and we are left with nothing. Next waves, another post mentions that there will be no other ārecoveryā waves. And the post on the bug forum in NA is closed. Why closed, the problem is still not solved.
Years of effort and collecting simply disappeared due to incorrect coding. I urge you to bring this to the attention of the appropriate managers. so that an appropriate solution is initiated, next time take more time to test the game thoroughly. āMeasure twice, cut onceā. Listen to the Alpha and Beta testers. If no action is taken, vague answers. Youāve lost me, ā¦ If i cant trust a company to keep my items safe and secure in a bank. Then there is no reason to continue playing, because that means that everything I collect, achieve. Is meaningless, has no value assigned to it by your company. Yes this is a game, but I value it, it has meaning to me. And i am your customer .
Blizz answers:
This is game master Roodhephet from Blizzard Entertainment, Iāll be the one assisting you today:)
Upon further checking into this issue, Iām afraid that we as Game Masters are unable to assist in this case as itās entirely something related to the developers. But we kindly ask you to submit your feedback on the World of Warcraft Forums.
Additionally, if thereās anything else I can assist you with or if you have any further questions or concerns, please donāt hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
So i am out , cancel subscription. Really sad how they handle this. Good luck everyone. Elvis has left the building.
I had precisely zero items restored from 7 full guild tabsā¦ Hurrah for good support of the paying customers!
While I myself have been extremely lucky and lost nothing from this disaster, I feel for all of you who did. Blizzard is doing far too little to rectify this major screw-up they pushed out, which is complete bs.
Video game giant Activision Blizzard will start laying off employees at its Irvine and Santa Monica locations next month as parent company Microsoft Corp. looks to cut costs in its gaming division.
The Santa Monica-based video game maker notified about 400 employees of the layoffs on Sept. 12. By the end of the year, 140 employees will be cut from the Irvine facility and 110 will be laid off from the Santa Monica location, according to a state notification filed by Activision Blizzard.
Additionally, the companyās Playa Vista location will begin layoffs in November and cut a total of 143 employees by the end of the year, according to a separate notice.
The Activision Blizzard layoffs are part of Microsoftās move to cut 3% of its global gaming employees, or 650 people.
And what do we want after all this?
This?
The gradual layoffs will begin in small waves in mid-October and will be completed by the end of the year.
The application regarding the layoffs at Blizzard says that accountants, software engineers, the World of Warcraft HR director, artists, game producers and many others will be affected. The general list of positions to be cut includes not only junior employees: Activision Blizzard is also planning to fire the game director and vice president.
For now, this is the information. And then we will see.
It took them about a month to publicly address the issue - though at least via ticket response they could confirm it was a known issue. When they did address the issue, there was no apology or intent to compensate players for the items lost, even after confirming that there will be permanent data loss. Even more egregious: part of the lost data, the items they cannot restore, is still visible in the guild bank logs.
Itās a simple story. They fudged up, sure, that can happen. But after that, they decided that rather than compensate players or spend time on manual solutions, itād cost less money to just deal with the outrage and sweep it under the rug. Itās not that they canāt compensate players. They wonāt.
Itās absolutely ridiculous. This doesnāt come from some misplaced sense of entitlement. This is setting a very, very dangerous precedent. Anything you do in-game, can be lost or taken away without any sort of compensation. Blizzard donāt value the progress youāre making. The bigger question is, why should you?
Would you like to expand on what youāre saying?
Are you asking us why should we care about the progress weāre making? or stating by means of a rhetorical question that we shouldnāt care, and we should just forgive and forget?
It also being on the 20th anniversary that gives that extra sting.
Blizzard still has time to make it right for me, I have cancelled my sub but it will take a few months to run out.
BUT
If they do make it right, this will really be the last time they can treat me like this.
Some of us have gone through the whole dead server issue: being ignored, not given a solution and seeing the classic servers getting thrown free transfers at them.
So its: last chance or its me gone for good and that is gone for good from anything Blizzard releases. Tbh, they probably prefer having me gone.
Players from China will receive an additional 500 Trade Tokens per year.
And why do they need us, with our endless problems? Blizzard has someone to take care of.
I had a lot of pets and mats, including a lot of unobtainable now Accursed Keepsake.
I have received nothing in my e-mail, does anyone know if itās still in progress or itās final that I will get completely nothing?
No, no one knows unfortunately. Not even the support staff because they give conflicting information every other day.
Iām in the same boat as you, my entire guild bank was wiped out and so far I have had nothing mailed to me.
