Day one Kosh’harg was a blast!
There was a huge throng and energy to the night as contestants queued for what seemed forever to face the menace of the saddles, Siegehowl and the Winter Sun wolves. It was of course Saddles of Treachery night the perfect ice breaker for the festival.
There were nearly double the sign ups to previous Kosh’harg events as contenders battled doggedly through six competitive heats and against both wolf and gravity to remain seated, some ended up in the lake. Others were thrown against the fences Siegehowl bid many farewell with an enthusiastic grunt and waggle of tail. The final match was decided by a single point of style between first and second place.

Special thanks to the hosts Takkat Warwolf and Naroda Swiftwolf for making the event run smoothly and without anyone injured too badly.

Saddles of Treachery results:
First place – Aaillish Solaris - Far Reach
Second place – Kemuro - Grimtusk Offensive
Third place – Harkha Dawnwalker - Winter Sun Clan

We’re now onto Day two of the Kosh’harg events, lets hope that visitors to the festival are rested up and ready for an exciting evening of games and gatherings around the main fire.

We have the Skywise Archery contest, this is a bows only target archery challenge but is divided up into two halves for both experts who it seems cannot miss and beginners so even if you have never fired a bow before you can give it a go.

There will also be the Garadar Marathon, have you never seen Nagrand before? Well now is your chance while running the course you will have a swift tour of this ancient orcish landscape. Think you are the best runner? Time to test that out too while you are on the tour.

Remember you don’t have to be a contestant to enjoy the games, come along and cheer on your favourite participant or set up your market stall near the fire to help build the shared Kosh’harg experience with other visitors.

Thank you everyone who has attended so far for making this Spring Kosh’harg so filled with colour from across the community.

Well done to all of our winners!

Tonight is a special night, and here’s what’s to come:

  • 20:00: Gather for Om’riggor - Do you have an orc that lacks an honour name? Or perhaps you have a new orc and want to try dipping your toe into orc RP? This is the event for you, welcoming orcs of all ages seeking to go through the rite of passage and earn a name of their own! Rules and conditions will be explained here. Orcs only for this rite.

  • 20:30: Om’riggor: The rite begins! You have one hour to perform your hunt and return with your trophy in hand!

  • All Evening: The Grand Market - While Om’riggor is in full swing, why not peruse our array of vendors and goods from across Azeroth?

Thank you, and have a wonderful day! LOK’TAR OGAR!

We have reached day four of the Kosh’harg!
Last night saw the sacred rite of Om’riggor an orc only traditional rite where hunters are sent out to seek their names and great stories are told of their actions.

Congratulations to the newly named:-
Korzum Hammerhowl!
Jodha Thornlurker!
Zi’tani Earthsong!
Garthur Stormroar!

The hosts of the Kosh’harg would also like to send out a special thank you to all of the stall holders who were present for the grand market last night, genuinely filled the main fire of Garadar with delight and colour. It was really lovely to walk around and be witness to your wares and trades.

Moving on though, Tonight is a big night both for those seeking to get down and bloodied with unarmed violence thrown into the mix, and for those who like to like to throw down in the kitchen!

Tonight’s events are:-

  • 20:00: BRAWL’GAR! - That’s right, it’s time to put your weapons and armour away and let’s get down to business! To defeat the Hu-Nope, wrong franchise. But you CAN defeat other hopeful Brawl’gar participants in order to achieve the title of Brawl’gar Champion! Will this be your season?!
  • 21:00: The Campfire Cook-off - The battlefield isn’t the only place one can seek honour! The way of the kitchen is a tricky once, and only the finest chefs will get past the challenges presented to achieve top place! How will YOU wield your ladle?!

PLEASE NOTE: Sign ups for Brawl’gar will be at the Western Gates of Garadar. We ask that you line up and prepare to give your name promptly so that we can get started as quickly as possible!
We are aware there are some concerns regarding numbers, this is an exceptionally popular event and we would like to assure you that we have taken them into consideration when organising this season’s Brawl’gar!

Thank you, and have a perfectly blissful day! LOK’TAR OGAR!

Day five has arrived and what a day to feel alive!

Yesterday we got to witnessed a FANTASTIC turnout for the evening’s events, with both Brawl’gar and the Great Cook-off running parallel! It was a joy to see everyone come together to socialise and spectate, as well as participate!

With Brawl’gar in particular, we saw all sorts of different people from various walks of life come together to enjoy a bit of friendly violence that definitely needed that healer’s tent! Special thanks to Aaillish Solaris and Por’zame for setting up the healers’ corner and to the Wandering Lamppost for hosting their stalls nearby for spectators! You all did a fantastic job! :purple_heart:

Winners of the Spring Brawl’gar 2024:-

  • 1st place: Ernex of Blood Howl!

  • 2nd place: Rosmeshal of The Far Reach!

  • 3rd place: Gin’je!

Big trouble in the Kosh’harg kitchen this Spring as some sort of arthropod war broke out, there were pinchy terrors in the spice rack as prawns escaped only to fight the wriggly wreckers that were caterpillars some urchins from Garadar had placed lovingly all over the kitchen - do doubt upto some mischief.

Regardless of chef’s battled on to present four fantastic plates of food for the community. So much so the community voted unanimously that the peoples choice award, normally gifted to just one cook would be gifted to all four.

Peoples Choice Award:

Amlei Wavetail - Windroc and Roll

Sunwalker Tarohe Rockhide - Zangarmarsh Zesty stew with Flatbreads.

Wulu Riverbud - Dino Pockets ‘’My kids call them prey’’

Jum’bo - Mushrooms o’ de Mountain wit a side of Dockmasters Rosemary Flatbread.

Over all Champion Chef of Spring Kosh’harg:

Jum’bo - Mushrooms o’ de Mountain wit a side of Dockmasters Rosemary Flatbread.

‘’…A dish inspired by the cold nights on Zandalar around the Harbour, the blue and green of the mushrooms give the dish a strong and unique look that makes them stand out on the plate. The chef hadn’t worked with them before but really wanted to profile Outland cuisine. The dish was both salty and earthy with a zest to keep the spirits up at the end.

The flat bread is apparently a Dock masters favorite….’’

Tonight sees a more ritualistic time in the Kosh’harg, with the events running thus:-

  • 20:30: Ritual Of The Dead - It is that time when the orcs gather on a pilgrimage to Oshu’gun, to visit the ancestors and make offerings. All are welcome to journey with us, but only orcs may enter the mountain.

  • 20:30: The Unclean Pyre - It seems only right that whilst our orc allies enter the mountain to finish their pilgrimage, we offer our non-orc allies to participate in a ritual of their own, following a similar concept.

  • 22:00: Rite of Spring - With spring upon us, it is time to shake off the woes and troubles of the past and look to the future! All are welcome to participate in a special rite to celebrate the spring, and receive a shaman’s blessing for the year!

A massive thank you to everyone who has shown up so far this week! We are very humbled to see so many take time to come and enjoy the Kosh’harg with us! Have a fantastic day and we look forward to seeing you all tonight! LOK’TAR OGAR!

We have now reached day six of the Kosh’harg!

Last night saw us take a more somber approach to orc culture with the pilgrimage to Oshu’gun, followed by the Rite of Spring. We are happy to have seen so many join us on what we would consider a more relaxed night!

Tonight is less relaxed however, and the events to expect are as follows:-

  • 20:15: Winter’s Endurance - Five challenges lie before you, ready to test your strength, speed and stamina! Will you be able to get through them all and become Winter’s Champion?

  • 22:00: Drinks! The Drinking Contest - It’s not a proper Kosh’harg until everyone is drinking and making merry! This is your chance to outdrink everyone! I’m sure nothing can go wrong with this.

Due to personal time constraints IRL, the starting time for Winter’s Endurance is a little later than initially advertised and we thank you for your patience and understanding! We would also like to make everyone aware that it is possible for Winter’s Endurance to overrun a bit at the end and apologise in advance if this turns out to be the case!

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you all tonight! LOK’TAR OGAR!

We now come to the FINAL DAY OF KOSH’HARG!

All good things must sadly come to an end. But though soon we must say goodbye until the next Kosh’harg, we can bask in the happy memories we have created here for returning folks and new folks!

Last night saw the Winter’s Endurance in full swing, with bamboo poles, javelins, water balancing, gem diving and even a quick round of running on FIRE! (Note: No participants were killed in this event. Harm may have occured.) We also saw a record number of participants, which made this the largest Winter’s Endurance I have ever hosted but oh my lord weren’t you all just an absolute delight to DM for! The RP we got to see last night was pure joy for us to watch, so thank you for being our best group yet!

The winners of the Winter’s Endurance are:-

  • 1st place: Baxiz Sharpwick!

  • 2nd place: Caleirn Windrise!

  • 3rd place: Charmie and Yorah Tallstride!

After the conclusion of the Winter’s Endurance, Thundertaker took us on a wild ride through the use of alcohol in the spirit of a drinking contest! Which definitely did not have a heckler mocking a certain wolf of the bloody variety…Still! The winner of the Drinking Contest is:-

  • Rosmeshal of The Far Reach!

Before we say goodbye for another six months, we would like to invite you to partake in tonight’s events:-

  • 20:00: Challenge of the Wyvern - Three riddles, one hour. In a team of up to four participants, you must ride out and seek the answer to each riddle, and return to the host within the hour! The first team to return with the most correct answers wins!

  • 22:00: Closing Ceremony - We don’t really want to say goodbye, but sadly we must! But before we do, we invite you to join us in the closing ceremony to say a proper goodbye to the Kosh’harg, and look to the future with hope in our hearts!

We look forward to seeing you all tonight for one final hurrah! LOK’TAR OGAR!

Just dropping a quick little message from me to all of you!

This week has been pretty insane with everything we had going on, and all I can say is a massive thank you to everyone who has attended and taken part in the events we put together with love and care! For me personally, the numbers we saw for Winter’s Endurance was the highest I’ve ever seen, and somehow that has made it the best one I’ve ever hosted, so thank you to everyone who took part in that - you were amazing! Thank you to Gloommaw who was instrumental in keeping track of scores, because that was tough! And of course we even got to see some personal development RP that really put the cherry on top.

A special thank you to those who brought stalls to the market, to Wandering Lamppost who set up stalls near the Brawl’gar (that’s some good marketing right there!), and to Auruka who took on the role of hosting the Challenge of the Wyvern!

If you’re feeling the Kosh’harg blues like I am, fear not! We’ll be back in October to bring the finest orc-y events we have to offer!

Until we meet again! Aka’magosh! :purple_heart:

We’ll see you again in the autumn ^^

Stories will be told, the Caterpillars have been gathered up and put back where they were found before the cooking contest, the sweat has been broomed from the tall grasses after such a popular brawl’gar and finally the smoke has risen up into the skies for the closing ceremony. Kosh’harg festival for the Spring has ended.

For all those who have attended over the last week,
Thank you for making Kosh’harg the festival it is.
We could not have had the fun we have had without you being there and being part of it, you didn’t need to be playing the games or hosting the market stalls. Being there involved and engaged with the festival brought its own colour and vibrance to Garadar over the last few days.

It has been a gift to meet and roleplay with so many folks.

We’ll be back again come Autumn with a return to Nagrand but until that time there will be many sleeps and we will bid you ‘Aka’magosh from the Winter Sun clan’
