[H/Tauren RP] Proudhorn Nomads - All That Remains

This looks amazing! I really hope to run into you at some point!

Last night the nomads staged a rescue mission to save one of their own from Grimtotem captivity. Although not used to violence, the Proudhorn will go to any lengths to protect their people…

It was a stormy night in Feralas. Rains reduced the wildlands to mud and lightning seared across the skies. Many of the Proudhorn hunters had been recalled to shelter from the weather but by the evening two had not returned - Khitava and Honondo.

Honondo came into camp gasping for breath. He described watching from a distance as Khitava was surrounded by Grimtotem Tauren and carried off as their prisoner. The Proudhorn camp rumbled with how to respond and then Jeddek ordered Honondo take him and several others back to the spot in-which he had lost Khitava. They would track the Grimtotem back to their campsite, for surely they must have stopped for the night in the storm, and rescue Khitava before whatever it is they planned came to fruition. Grulun, Bnooki, Kaluf, Honondo and Jeddek armed themselves and left immediately.

They came down the mountain pass and crossed the river safely. Grulun followed the Grimtotem tracks for a short while until they came across a large Tauren campsite. Black fur in the distance assured the nomads that they had found what they were looking for.

The Proudhorn crept through the Grimtotem encampment, their hoof-steps and voices masked by the thundering storm. Bnooki put a Grimtotem sentry to sleep with his Druidic magic and they arrived outside a large tent in the hills. Falax, who had accompanied Jeddek close behind, seemed attracted to the contents of the tent and so they prepared to charge inside.

Grulun and Honondo charged inside the tent. Grulun ended a Grimtotem with his spear and Honondo wounded another with his axe. A third awoke in the corner, reached for his weapon and stabbed Jeddek shallowly in the side. Bnooki found Khitava huddled in the corner and untied her bindings as Honondo finished off the last fighting Grimtotem. Khitava wasn’t hurt and they were getting ready to leave when voices broke the storm outside.

Alerted by the noise, several Grimtotem warriors called from outside the tent. Grulun used the wounded Grimtotem as a prisoner and threatened to cut his throat if they were not allowed to leave. This proved doubly effective as it turned out their prisoner was an elder’s son. The talks were beginning to make progress when Kaluf seized the initiative and used his connection with the Spirits to call down lightning on the Grimtotem outside. The result was carnage and all the Grimtotem fell scorched or screaming.

Although stunned by the awful sounds, the Proudhorn make their escape. They fled back through the encampment and towards the river where they had come. Most of the nomads made it safely across but Khitava, perhaps weakened by her captivity, fell from the crossing into the river. Honondo lost his footing also and Grulun had to swim after him. Jeddek and Falax found Khitava and helped her out. She was alright but they needed to get back to the campsite before she froze from the elements.

They were greeted with celebration when they finally returned to their campsite with Khitava safely in tow although none amongst them had enough energy to do anything but collapse and rest. Khitava revealed that she overheard the Grimtotem talking of trading her to a group of Goblins for some kind of reward. Could this kidnapping by linked to ‘Blazewest’?

Now they lick their wounds and await the return of the Highmountain. Are their days of safely wandering truly over?

We’re still at our encampment high above Feralas. If you’d like to interact with the Proudhorn, or get involved with our group as a nomad, this is one of the better times to do so.

The days are getting harder still and the good will of the Tauren for outsiders is quickly waning…

As more than once of the tribes’ people test their fate and walk a thin line between life and death, the dynamics within the tribe begin to change as well.

Never had the unity and the resolve of the Proudhorn been tested in such manner before. Many different voices emerge in the tribe that challenge the Proudhorn way and call for changes.

The time to move on draws near, but the path to take has never been less clear. It seems like the thousand needles are going to be the tribes next destination, a landscape in disarray since the Cataclysm, much like the Tribe itself now. Will the Proudhorn be able to overcome… or succumb?

Last night, the nomads led an attack on a Goblin caravan. It has been many years since they have turned to violence except in direct response…

Although still unable to aid the Proudhorn directly, Highmountain scouts had intercepted word of a Blazewest caravan passing through the Dustwallow Marsh and the Barrens. They directed this information onto Jeddek via a carrier bird and he brought it to the tribe’s attention. He believed that it was time to hit the Goblins back and that they could find useful supplies and weapons within this caravan that could aid their people. Grulun and Khitava were initially unsure and the general consensus was that no word could get out about what the Proudhorn had done - this meant there could be no prisoners, no survivors.

Tohaku suggested that this was the will of the Spirits and so the Proudhorn readied themselves with weapons and prepared to leave for the marshes. They would pick a spot to ambush the caravan onroute and steal all they could carry inside. Deep within Dustwallow, the nomads selected a section of road that was pushed up against a mountainside. From this position, the ambushed Goblins would have nowhere to go but into the swamp itself where the Tauren could be waiting.

They waited for some time before the caravan appeared. It was headed by two scouts on mechanical trikes although the wagon itself was driven by horses. A final patrol drove up the back of the caravan. Tohaku called for the aid of the Spirits and they answered by unleashing a boulder from atop the mountain to crash and topple over the wagon. It was going nowhere now.

Grulun and Khitava jumped out of their hiding spots, unleashing their fury onto the Goblins. Grulun shot his bow, knocking down a Blazewest company man, whilst Khitava used the power of the elements to shock a Goblin into submission. When the Orc driving the wagon attempted to run, Tohaku cut him down. The final Goblin was shot by Grulun as he tried to make his escape.

The horses of the wagon regretfully had to be euthanized and the surviving Goblins were killed. Inside the caravan they found parcels of medical supplies, sealed jugs of water, and a selection of firearms with ammunition. Jeddek seemed transfixed with the latter and ordered they take everything they could carry. The rest was dumped in the swamp with the bodies of the fallen - food for the crocolisks beneath…

Eyota arrived and helped carry the rest of the gear back to camp. Their ambush had been a success and no Proudhorn had been injured. These supplies would help them greatly and Chief Jeddek said that he would get the tribespeople to train to defend themselves in-case their enemies came again.

Despite the victory, the mood around the camp remained somber. The Proudhorn were not supposed to be warriors by nature although their ancient kin did fight to ensure their survival. Perhaps this was no different - perhaps they were justified in the blood they spilled. Still, an uncertain air remained and the thorns of their temporary home did little to sate their private concerns.

The Proudhorn now find themselves camped in the Barrens, hidden within the thorns of a dead Quillboar encampment. Whispers of discontent murmur from amongst their own and few are sure what the future will hold…

For the next few weeks I’m going on holiday so Tohaku the Hornkeeper will be in-charge of the nomads. Please contact him or join our Discord if you have any questions or would like to interact with us.

Thank you to everyone we’ve met so far. Everybody’s being so lovely (OOC anyway) and its been a joy to lead and organize this concept. Much more is being planned as we move towards the most difficult chapters of the Proudhorn journey emerging in July.

We’ll soon be moving onto something of a ‘transition’ chapter in the tale of the Proudhorn Nomads as Noblespirit takes a well-deserved holiday. All of his events have been fantastic, so the rest of us certainly have a lot to live up to.

While the bulk of the nomads remain camped in the Barrens, simply surviving for now, events will soon be set in motion that will take a small but dedicated group on a journey across the Barrens and beyond in search of Chief Jeddek’s daughter Wyaenne, who has been away for some time on a mysterious task of her own.

What will become of Wyaenne and the rest of the tribe? Join us on our adventure next week and find out!

Would love to bump into you lovely people at some point, as my character is a nomad himself and it’s always nice to see fellow Tauren on the plains!

Feel free to get in touch in-game and I’m sure we can work something out! There’s always the chance that you might bump into us IC out in the Barrens, of course…

Are you related to Kotaku, by any chance?

Afraid not, but the Proudhorn Nomads strongly oppose crunch and support game devs.

The Proudhorn expedition that left in search of Wyaenne now return to the rest of the nomads housed in the Barrens. Yet the situation has deteriorated in their absence and the future for their people remains uncertain…

Over the next few weeks we’ll be moving through the final chapters of the Proudhorn story. If you’d like to interact with us but never found the time, or wish to continue an interaction that has happened with us in the past, this may be your last few chances to do so.

May the Spirits be your guide!

Hello there!

Your guild has been recommended to me by an orcish lass in another thread where I mentioned looking for a more peaceful sort of community with a focus on the tribal aspects of the Horde rather than the militant ones.

“If you’d like to interact with us but never found the time, or wish to continue an interaction that has happened with us in the past, this may be your last few chances to do so.”

Does this mean the guild will disband or stop taking in new members? Should I try to rush my leveling and character profile?

Thank you in advance!

Greetings!

I am not the GM of the Nomads so take everything you hear from me with a grain of salt.

The guild itself was never intended to be a long-term project and the story will likely come to a conclusion within the next couple of weeks.

That being said, you can still RP with us if you wish, while we are still around (and alive). The character level shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Thank you for the honest answer!

I’m sad to hear that such a lovely concept (been reading the story snippets posted in this thread and I absolutely love them!) and the community built around that concept won’t be around for much longer.

Will try to at least see the closing events and I hope, perhaps selfishly, that the Proudhorn Nomads and all they stand for will live on in some form.

Hey there Nomusa. Thank you for taking the time to read through our concept above and thank you to Khitava for replying in my absence.

We’ve been on a bit of a break recently with activity from our nomads dropping off steadily as we moved into the Summer. The plan is to finish off the Proudhorn story sometime in early August although this still needs to be worked out with the remaining participants.

Although the nomads were short-lived as an active concept, we achieved much of what we wanted to do and had a lot of fun RPing through it. I’ve met many great people and hope to keep these connections into new projects later in the future.

If you would still like to get involved, or are interested to hear from the players who made this concept a reality, the best place to reach us is over on our Discord at:
