Hardcore servers lag [20/09]

Hi Tyrskorn,

over the weekend we´ve seen a huge improvement on our tiny era home.

The lags were way better, and though i experienced some, they were so few and far inbetween that i can´t remember when (except for mails which was a bit laggy one time).

However, this evening it seems to become slightly worse again:

  • When i tried to mount, i saw the animation (with the hands moving), but now “progress bar”. My rogue finally mounted, but it felt “laggy”
  • When i arrived with a gryphon in Stormwind, my rogue kept sitting on the gryphon for several seconds before she finally landed
  • Mails are occassionally “laggy” - if one tries to send items, they are still in the inventory for some time, before they vanish. It´s a short “delay”

None of this does happen EVERY TIME, it feels like some “lag spikes”.
But more than over the Weekend. Some of my friends noticed the same, especially with the mails and the gryphon landing.

But that´s only on our smaller realm.

Activision Blizzard Inc shares pumping up, they don’t give a sh*t about their players. Till the total collapse because the investors get aware.

Yes my example is how in real life laws can be bent in extreme situations and you trying to say how in game it cant? Maybe we need more people to come and write angry comments not less.
Btw are you Blizzard employee or what? I can see you go from post to post on forums always defending Blizz actions etc aand one more interesting thing I noticed is that Dottie is always with you and I noticed Dottie doing same thing in like almost every post. It almost looks like it is your job :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t work for Blizzard, no. Nor do I know Dottie. Your paranoia is of no consequence.

I think Blizzard get a lot of things wrong. I don’t think this is a good situation but I also think your expectations are unrealistic.

It’s clear you are not able to deal with the fact your toon is gone and won’t be restored to you. While I can understand it’s annoying, I also think you need to get some perspective here. Playing on a hardcore server is always going to have risks like this - it’s inevitable and it’s what you signed up to. It’s why I don’t play on Hardcore - generally I play a healer and, frankly, it’s a big enough bag of hurt on retail but to run the risk of being blamed for a permanent death - doubly so given there are players like you around - not for me.

You are not going to get your toon back. That is the end of any meaningful discussion. Your rants and ridiculous comparisons with people rushing to hospital in a life and death situation would demonstrate to any rational person that you’re clutching at straws.

You have two choices:

You accept your toon is gone and when the realm(s) stabilise again you re-roll and carry on.

You stop playing and cancel your sub because you think Blizzard are a bunch of (your choice of rude word here).

I’ve said it before on other threads - there are lots of other games out there that are vying for your attention and your cash and your time. If WOW isn’t working for you, then try one of those.

Throughout the day I got 3 random disconnects, spaced out quite a few hours apart. Finally I pulled a mob on my 39 priest and got dropped, while I had a livestream running and on a working voice channel. Well, at least my guildmates told me I’m dead and I didn’t have to wait all the way until reconnect!

Its been better, but by no means is it back to pre-maintance standards. I still get mega lag by changing layers or entering some new zones. I still get some second lag at times for moving inventory space, inspecting people or sending mails. There is nothing that is telling me its safe to play again, because this was also the feeling before the mega purge on stitches. How can we know that the servers are fully safe again if it still keeps acting up.

And still no official update on server fix.

Edit: There is an update that for a strange reason is between 3 days old posts. I check this thread for new posts every day and wouldn’t have found unless it was linked in another thread.

I ran a traceroute to the servers, following this support article from Blizz:

And yeah, it looks bad. A couple of request time outs on the way and ping goes up to 3k ms.

I’m gonna check again tomorrow after the server maintenance but my guess is there might something be interfering somewhere along the way and not directly at Blizz.

Obviously throwing the XP buff only into a single DF zone created unwanted problems. If only there was a way how to reduce the load. Azure Span is borderline unplayable.

Ignore?? What did you expect them to do? Other than fixing the servers obviously, but you already knew resurrection was out of the equation.

for some reason people still think “UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE” has some kind of loophole.

Maybe people expected that Blizz learned from previous mistakes and will resurrect but nah, they must really enjoy in that bad rep they got more and more in last few years

Massive latency just cannot do dungeons , i usually do mythic, now it’s just unplayable.

Hello

My character died due to that lag as well, 40 warrior. I was in contact with support, long story short, they are not support service, but we are not responsible for anything than copy-paste excuses support. I have one important request for all of you who died to that server lag:

  1. cancel the sub
  2. open the ticket via support service
  3. request compensation for their mess with the server lag, nothing less then 30 days of free game time added to your account

post their replies to relevant discords, forums etc so we open this topic as a possible solution for us. It might work and it worth the shot. One of their replies to me:
“In regards to compensation the issue that caused this was something that affect a large number of players and as such we as Customer Support cannot grant any compensation for that. If there is any compensation for the server instabilities then that will be decided at a higher level and if needed granted to all affected players.”

Where did you get the 30 days from? At level 40 you are at like 5 days played.

What do you mean where? That is one month sub - stop comparing the time spent in game with the service you payed for. Car insurance is covering the possible damages for whole year even if you use car less then 5% time throu out that year.

But you didn’t lose a month of game time, so why should you be compensated for a whole month?

Even in the heydey of WOW Vanilla when Blizzard were amenable to crediting game time for things like server outages, I don’t recall anything more than a few days for a specific incident. Those days are long since gone.

You won’t get any compensation - Blizzard take the view that your subscription allows access to Retail and WLK Classic as well as Hardcore Classic. Retail and WLK are playable and so they have provided you with a game you are able to play. That you choose not to is entirely your own decision.

Vote with your wallet by all means, it’s really the only thing that is understood by large organisations. Don’t blame Customer Service either - they can only do what they are permitted to do by the higher echelons. Their hands are, metaphorically, tied.
