They are literally going down the list of the Cosby Suite, that is incredible
And this was a reply to that tweet;
“How cool would it be if all of the ex-blizzard employees who are getting me-nexted just went out and made a game everyone wanted to play?”
Jesus Christ, some people.
Hope this is fimally the last straw and they get fired. Hamilton has gone full ape-mode blaming customers the last few days and deserves the boot. Public booting too.
NGL when I see a developer lashing out at their own game’s fanbase they look like some of the most sheltered morons and worse than the manchildren/dramaqueens barraging them with hatemail
Yeah, those sorts of people need to be shown the door too. Society should be better than that.
Me-nexted? People are truly terrible.
We do be living in a society.
Seen alot of tweets, even more GD threads here on the eu forums in the same vein. So many guys that has instead been angry at the lawsuit & or the women and their reactions and responses have been all kinds of terrible. Usually in the form of “People can’t flirt anymore” or “they just want attention, its unfair allegations!”.
If a person’s reaction to hearing about how women have been sexually harassed and abused, is to instantly complain about how it just shows you cant flirt or be nice to people anymore, says that they are worried they themselves are gonna get “unjustly accused” or something along those lines, I am very confident said person has probably already done something bad themselves. Perhaps not on the same level but if their first reaction to this is to whine and worry about themselves they have -not- been treating women in their lives very good.
It’s also a clear indicator to stay away from that person.
Same with the people who’s been complaining about how women’s rights and health & or speaking up against mistreatment is “politics”.
110%. I’ve yet to see a single point of evidence to the contrary, frankly.
Actual ‘nice guys’ are the ones who nod, apologise, and just… quietly get on with their lives? Like they were before? Because they have the ability to self-examine and be open to critique and feedback without having an apocalyptic tantrum about it.
It’s generally the same with whataboutism or when people begin to complain whenever some who speaks up about how men are treating women. Yes, it’s not all men. That’s always been understood. Nor is it only men, that’s also always been understood. But in the current discussion and situation it is specifically men who have been the issue, and everyone is already aware it doesn’t mean “every single man on the planet” but those who specifically abuse and harass, and it’s not only redundant to need specify it every single time, but complaining about it and bringing up arguments about the “not all men” constantly when its mentioned is also harmful to the discussion, as it only serves to further prevent talking about the harassment many women face.
This has also been really common the last month with the Blizzard situation. Several of the employees+one of the people trying to help the women at Blizzard made a statement how women should be free from abuse at the workplace, yet 90% of the tweets were from angry gamer-dudes spamming “everyone should be free from abuse, not just women! Sexist!”.
Like, yes that’s understood perfectly, but A) It was not the discussion at this point and B) you’re literally only further belittling and harming women further by acting like this.
TL:DR, I wish people would stop with the whole Whataboutism the -second- women’s issues and abuse from men is brought up at all. It helps absolutely nobody and only does harm.
We haven’t heard from Akamito’s uncle who works at Blizzard for a while…

But they sure love to cry about whataboutism when it’s the other way around, or y’know, say ppl are being racist/sexist when someone makes a comment about how a current workplace is too white/male etc.
Almost like, bigots are hypocrites, who knew.
The usual crowd brought back the “fire roux for racism” around the same time as this mess.
It’s quite hilarious how when there’s an example of transphobia/racism/homophobia/misogyny, the usual crowd goes like ‘well, u can just ignore it lol!!! like it’s just words!!!’
then roux comes in with a hot take of ‘lol white men bad’ and they immediately go into a frenzy.
like yeah, blaming (white) men for everything is probably not the take but it’s also very hypocritical and just absurd to be throwing a tantrum over it too
As far as I’ve seen Jeff has voiced strong opinions about those harassing both him and others about their work or workplace. Sharing pictures of said interactions as well. I’ve never seen him outright attack anybody besides call out this abhorrent behavior.
Personally, I don’t see how that’s an issue. I wouldn’t do that myself, granted.
But I wouldn’t really argue that they’ve right to be kept “hidden” after that kind of stuff.
Why would you hide their identity when they act like that?
I have a friend that anytime she’s sent an unsolicited picture by a man, she does her very best to track down this person’s significant other if there is one, mother, sister etc to share what their family member is up to. And she shares everything.
It’s usually extremely effective.
Because that kind of individual, in my experience, wants to be anonymous.
Take that away and they get quiet real quick.
I’ve no issue with him calling out the bad apples. I do take a problem with him blaming the entire player base and being condescending about the obviously crap decisions re: game design. He’s no humility whatsoever to learn and to adapt and would rather 9-5 clock for a job he clearly has no passion for.
It’s a case of “Am I out of touch? No, the players must be.”
Any guy being a creep & or sending unwanted pics like that deserves full exposure to the world.
If they don’t like it, they shouldn’t have been creeps in the first place.
If, theoretically Mr Shapiro, you were in his shoes, what would you do? Because, Mr Shapiro, I would find it hard to believe you are an exception when it comes to having no passion for a 9-5 job.
That’s not what I’ve seen him say at all.
You, we, as players do not have a given right or entitlement for our concerns or criticisms to be put into active action. It has been heard. It has been read. The developers are then free to decide whether they think that criticism is relevant or not.
That’s their prerogative. It is their product. Not ours.
To continuously bother them to the degree that Jeff Hamilton is voicing his displeasure with are players that don’t understand that simply because they have a concern doesn’t mean that everyone else have to dance accordingly. The replies I’ve most often seen him subjected to are in the wheelhouse of “Why haven’t you changed [insert feature]?”.
“Then they’re gonna lose players.”
Then they’ll lose players.
It still doesn’t change the fact that we aren’t owed or entitled to anything.
Even if one would want our wishes to be their top priority.
There’s a fantastic thread on Twitter about this very topic, as far as I’m concerned:
