Well not right now since things are so lob sided. Granted I am maining a DH Tank, but still am dead against all this select 5 or 6 specs are best, and the rest can go to hell.
As Ellipsis said, they managed to have the vast majority balanced and represented in season 1, so clearly they can do it. And yes I can expect to have that back.
I wouldn’t say the request is unreasonable, though I guess any direct ask for tuning on a forum page is by definition unreasonable.
It’s backed by log and representation data, it has clear pain points / areas of concern to address, and it’s being made following buffs to several other lesser performing specs, and warrior which was already one of the stronger non meta choices and was literally in the highest rated team prior to 10.1.5… the fact they buffed warrior genuinely confused me more than the fact they didn’t buff dh…
Class balance is cyclical and although this is the worst meta, the fact that 99% of the forums believe everything was much better is rose tinted glasses. It was better yes, but not loads. We have gone from a top 0.1% of what probably 6-9 specs average (pulled this from my head for sl and df season 1) to 5 (arguably 6 to be fair) 6-9 still isn’t the saviour of our problems, it’s still a poor position to be in.
This is my issue with the current anti meta stuff going around, it’s normalising what was already poor
I had already had a dh that slammed 600k into 3 pack pull and spriest did the rest with 400k. but I think all three of us kept buffing him. unfortunately that was not a ++ run, but super ez +.
and balance used to be lousy with good old devs. unfortunately you can’t expect anything today with these clowns.
this hits people very hard, who like playing a certain class too much.
The problem DH has is that in order to run any AoE damage it has to tank its single target by about 25%. That should be rectified but likely requires more than % changes to abilities.
This is na data because it was the quickest to find… out of 3301
5 mistweavers got 0.1%
12 frost mages got 0.1%
That’s not meta, and I think no matter what you think until the season ends you can’t qualify how different the meta was.
For example you listed warrior as one of these specs well only 29’dps and 34 prot warriors got top 0.1% against the prot paladins which got 189, which shows how quickly people shifted to them later in the season.
So I think 19 being meta is a stretch… sure there might be more diversity come the end of this season but I agreed with that so not sure if its a bit of a mute argument?
Is your list your opinion or something you’ve actually found, if so do share
I’ll be honest I have no idea why I put MW, I had zero sleep.
Frost though, a lot of top mages played both and swapped depending on the key. Nobody one tricked frost specifically specifically so maybe I should bunched it up with warrior but frost was definitely up there on a similar power level with fire, just required completely different gear.
I don’t disagree with your statements though don’t think i do. But I think the view of this season being bad needs to be qualified more as nearly all seasons are bad, the balance needs to be made better.
Statistically the average percentage of 0.1% title spots the top 5 represented specs take up in a given season is 75% counting all completed seasons. DF season 1 ended at 64% with the caveat of one notable outlier being protection paladin taking up a majority share of tank spots whilst also being in the top 5 most played specs (Though most warriors pushing before still held, title didn’t actually go that high).
Currently it’s around an 88-90% share depending what data set you look at. For comparison Shadowlands S4, the previous most meta defined season, was at 80% when it ended.
We can have a discussion about if 64% given the prot paladin caveat is that bad, I personally don’t think it is and kinda bunks the common talking point of “If it’s even 1% ahead everyone flocks to it” and while some do, enough to have a meaningful impact on share, it’s nowhere close to everyone.
