High Elf Denial

Isn’t that exactly what High Elves are trying to do? The literal Capital of the “high elves” recognize themselves as Blood Elves.

I would love to see Blizzard add a Scene with Varessa screaming “For the Sin’dorai!” and see the reaction :joy:

Yes that does make sense. Me personally, I would rather they got rid of all allied races and merge them with the core races. At least those who can be merged.

Yea adding all the Mag’har Options to Orcs and all the High Mountain to Tauren and just calling them Orc and Tauren wouldn’t really do much, except they’d lose their racials. But racials needs to go anyway, just another thing Blizzard can’t balance :joy:

Another easy fix to this whole situation, which I as a Forsaken would also be very much for… Is simply removing all Passive-Active Racials and turn them into Active Spells.
No more Void Elves turning Purple in Combat… And no more me One-shotting low level mobs by accident with Touch of the Grave  Then the only complaint Hefers have left is that their Tooltip doesn’t say “High Elf” which TRP can fix for them.

If that race does not already exist in the game.

It is like the lightforged drenai being called drenai, or kul tiras humans just being called humans.

You just discredited yourself by strawmaning half the playerbase. The fact of the matter is that current blood elves ARE THE high elven kingdom and they are allied with the horde.

Yeah but just because you are A high elf, does not mean YOU are THE high elf empire.

It’s like an Italian and 50 of his friend going and settling in a new area and starting their own country. They are free to give it a name, but NOT “steal” the name of “Italy”, “Rome”, etc.

Same thing, the High elf royal bloodline was the “leader” of high elves, and now it is the reagent lord. Those small groups that are in the alliance can make their own faction, but they cannot claim that they are “THE” high elves.

It’s simply a purity thing.

I don’t want to remove racials. I think it’s very core to an MMORPG. I do agree that they are poorly balanced however.

I dare you to go to each location mentioned then report back here what you seen, places that have been here since 2005.

As someone who isn’t well versed in the elf lore, this is a very good parable.

This game will be 21 years old in November. Logically understanding is that High Elves are Blood Elves. But some people have not reached the necessary emotional acceptation of this fact during the mentioned time. More than ever Midnight’s arrival should be enough of a reason reason to finally put this nonsense that is playable Alliance High Thing to a rest.

To further support my argument I would like to bring about the book called simply “Sylvanas”

Anyone who wishes to argue about Thalassian history should read this book. It’s first half takes place during Sylvanas’ time as a living High Elf. And during that time we are presented a clear cross-section of a Thalassian culture, society and structure.

I assure you it is very detailed. And you know what is the most striking? That if we compare the profile of those High Elves from the book to modern High Elves and Blood Elves then Sin’dorei come out victorious in terms of who is more similar to Thalassians from before Third War.

I mean it is not even close. So from pure Racial profile standpoint. Blood Elves are direct continuation of the High Elves, because they are the High Elves who simply renamed themselves in honor of their brethren who died so that THEY might live.

A pretty big deal in my opinion. All surviving citizens who lived and rebuilt Quel’thalas, brought it to it’s former glory, did not change it into some twisted abomination.

Every farmer, every carpenter, every vinter, every merchant and artist who lived as a High Elf lives exactly the same life as a Blood Elf. Literally nothing changed about them. They still breathe the same air, walk the same streets and eat the same bread from the same ovens.

They only remember. Remember those they have lost. And they hold dear what they have preserved and restored. Something that Alliance High Elves failed to do.

And we are about to jump right into almost fully healed Quel’thalas with still some iffy parts in Ghostlands.

We will get drowned in a rebuilt Thalassian culture. The full fledged Legacy of High Elves and pride of the Blood Elves.

If TWW would last for 2 years then by the start of Midnight we will have full 22 years since Sunwell’s destruction and 16 years since it’s restoration.

That means the first generation of Sin’dorei who were born at that time is reaching their adolescence. A generation of Elves that do not remember Arthas, Kel’thuzad, Scourge, the Wretched or the Magical Addiction that threatened their very existence.

These are the first unburdened Elves by the tragic past. They are the bright future of the “healed soul of a nation” that Prophet Velen spoke of when he reignited the Sunwell. All they saw was a ruined Kingdom which throughout the years has risen to glory.

What did Alliance Pariah High Elves did during that time? They cannot even properly band together. Quel’danil in Hinterlands, Allerian Stronghold in Terokkar, remnants of Silver Covenant.

These are all disjointed groups of independent Thalassian separatists who have not made any progress at all in two decades. And while they just festered, Quel’thalas was rebuilt and has risen from the ashes. I think that alone should be the argument enough.

Such perfect writing. Chris Metzen and those who helped write this amazing story are truly, truly remarkable. On a higher level than even Tolkien elves. I love all of the stories of the elves of Warcraft. :sparkling_heart:

What is the Silver Covenant then?

Also some Night Elves turned into Blood Elves in the past, does this mean now all Night Elves are Blood elves?

Also we have Stormwind Humans and Kul’tiran Humans…

I was deeply disappointed when they added Void Elves as a compromise to the High Elf demands from fans. I tried to accept them as such, but I couldn’t. Their aesthetics, their voices, and of course the identity box (that little box in the bottom right corner) saying “Void Elf” made it impossible for me to accept them because they are simply not what we expect to see as High Elf.

A High Elf is an elf that we know from the Silver Covenant in Dalaran, or Warcraft 3. They are your more Tolkienesque elves in Warcraft setting. Anything else is something else and new.

It felt like such a strange choice to add Void Elves when the Broken Draenei were right there in the same setting. Instead of giving players any of the races we had been asking for (At the end of Legion it was the Broken to be fair), they gave us this twist. I still can’t accept it to this day because I do not understand why.
