But theyâre not just any other elven race. Theyâre og High Elves, with a story and unique identity weâve been teased with for several expansions.
Not Blood Elves or Void Elves whose story are their own.
I feel like that sentiment should be saved for the Haranir, whose vibe is basically a mixed, rehashed version of Warcraft 3 Night elves with possible troll customizations. Quite uninspired.
Actually i want also high elf but horde side because i dont wanna play my high elf in alliance side. So add another blood elf what says high elf because i cant play high elf what says blood elf. Thanks
I get that, but theyâd still be the fifth elven race on the roster. So I do think itâs a valid criticism for people to want new, decidedly non-elven options. I donât particularly care either way, but itâs a criticism that I can at least understand, rather than the âcry more lolâ department of feedback to the idea.
Whereas I do care on this note, because the haranir seem like a superfluous addition, undermining trolls and night elves alike. But thatâs for another thread.
Can you please explain how story of High Elves and Blood Elves differs prior to the destrucion of Sunwell by Arthas?
Because as long as I know, they share exactly same heritage.
The split, or rather exile, happend after the Sunwell events.
It is as if people refused to accept that todayâs Blood Elves are the former High Elves. They bare another name, but thatâs all.
And this is actually what I was saying already. We will have 4 copies of same race (model) in entire game then. I am ok with adding customizatons, or reworking the racials, but giving another separate race (and even for both sides)?
You call this move unispired, yet adding High Elves as exact copy of Blood Elves/Void Elves looks like a breakthrough, eh?
We know from books, from the stories how Kaldorei evolved from the trolls. And Haranir can be easily some former troll tribe who was affected by Well of Eternity, but instead of living with their kin they just formed separate civilization (thatâs just my speculation, we donât know their story yet). But calling it unispired and yet gloryfying the addition of High Elves seems a bit off.
This is obsession not passion. And even that is not an excuse to try to force your wants in something that doesnât even belong to you, or to bother everyone by spamming new threads.
Itâs Blizzards game to do with as they want, for better or worse.
And unless they openly advertised something when you paid for access, you arenât entitled to it.
Which as an adult you are expected to accept that and get over it
Sometimes I think the easiest move would be to rename existing elves to Quelâdorei and make them playable on both factions.
All of them would start in Eversong Woods at level 1.
By completing some storyline you would be offered to further play as:
og Quelâdorei (chosing Horde or Alliance as allegiance for further development, similar to Pandaren, with specific high elven customization, mounts, armor)
Sinâdorei - Horde - with their specific customization option only for Sinâdorei (with own heritage armor, mounts)
Renâdorei - Alliance - with specific customization option only for Renâdorei (again own heritage and mounts)
There are options how to make this possible, but adding another separate allied race is not the way.
The storyline mentioned above can be clearly designed as pre destrucion Quelâthalas culminating in story of Arthas attacking Quelâthalas and destorying the Sunwell.
A. The remnants that remained in the various organizations throughout Azeroth, which were mainly Alliance-oriented, if not fully Alliance centric. They deserve to have a story told, and to be playable more than the Void Elves ever were. They are a part of the original Warcraft story.
B. The Blood Elves and High Elves are no longer seen as the same, not in game, or in the lore - theyâre distinct in philosophy and allegiance. Hence why all the High Elven characters insist on being called High Elves, and not Blood Elves. Itâs not a valid argument against High Elf implementation since we have Pandaren, Dracthyr and Earthen that exist on both factions already.
C. I call it uninspired because the effort put into that couldâve easily gone to already existing races. Now weâve gotten yet another âmissing linkâ and further muddying the waters, in my opinion. (But thatâs a bigger topic regarding the lore)
Better to expand on what people have come to know and love, than make yet another new race, Iâd say. High Elves deserve that.
If you had read my posts fully, I specifically mentioned that it could be done easily without adding a separate allied race. I was even in favor of that, in fact.
I did, and my post wasnât targeted to you as some sort of argument or something bad - it was my general statement.
This doesnât answer my question nor clarifies your previous statement. But I get it - people want to see more story for High Elves. Fingers crossed to have this in Midnight!
All Elves of Quelâthalas (High/Blood/Void) are part of the original Warcraft story. Their fate, their story shaped in time in different events.
Thatâs why I made post to have Quelâdorei as base race with option to choose your further story and allegiance in the game (similar to Pandaren after they complete Wandering Isle story). This in my opinion would satisfy people who wants playable High Elves, but wouldnât hurt people who wants to play as Void Elf or Blood Elf.
Even though I am excited for Haranir addition I strongly agree we desperately need more for already existing races. I was pointing this out in different thread.

You asked me where they differed prior to the Sunwellâs destruction, something nobody had mentioned or made a point of in the first place.
I answered what the post was actually about, which is the remnant High Elves throughout Azeroth which also includes the direct exiles (and through Outland if you count Allerian Stronghold)

Yes, and we want high elves to finally take their place as fully-fledged playable characters (one that is called so by name, and preferably doesnât get inked in shadow every 10 seconds during combat).
Guys, we still have a chance to get High Elves in 12.1! The developers even mentioned it on Twitter, they need to see active interest from players
I think the best way is to continue expressing your interest in seeing those races one day. Player races are one of the most âexpensiveâ things Art can do so I imagine the decision to make one is made at the highest levels. The more âuniqueâ they are, the more they âcostâ
I think youâre setting yourself up for disappointment expecting High Elves to come up on exact dates like that (and never again otherwise). Iâm certain that weâll get them in some capacity - either as a allied race or a more developed customization option eventually.
And if they donât come up in any of Midnightâs patches - Northrend is just as good of a time too. What better time to insert a focus on the High Elves, than the continent where the Silver Covenant was first introduced and made into a mainstream force of the Alliance? Especially since Midnight is the expansion where the âElven tribes are reunitingâ process begins, rather than takes place.
I addresed the tweet she is linking earlier a few times.
As a reminder, this tweet was in response to a GENERIC question that didnât focus on High Elves.
" [@ Boogily_woogily]
not sure if you can comment, but I heard Ian talk about the process of crating new races for players. My question is, how can we best pitch ideas that best fit the stories you create and any saga going forward. I.E. High Elves, Ogres, Tortollan, ect.?"
He wasnât asked about High Elves specifically, the person questioning him included them alongside Ogres and Tortollan and etc.
And I laid out how Blizzardâs development pipeline likely works. Decisions taken months, years in advance. They are working on 13.2 right now after all. You donât just decide to add an Allied race on a whim. You need to get the heritage armor set created, the introductory quests built, the starting phase sorted, the introductory voice over doneâŚ
And Ion said âthey add new races were it makes narrative senseâ. When is it ever going to make more narrative sense than now, in Midnight? Why would it be likelier in the Last Titan? It would be like adding Dracthyr in Midnight. People would immediately askâŚwhy wasnât this done in Dragonflight? It would feel weird to the wider playerbase.
Bald fact is, if you take this tweet at face value, exhorting folks to make their feelings known on multiple possible additions, then he confirmed they ainât coming in Midnight. And if they ainât coming in Midnight, they probably arenât coming.
