You guys have been really cool with this, and I thank you for your advice! Cheers guys! I will likely go by “Clan” in the end, but as Connal said, beat the stigma. But Requina made a good point about “Order”.

I’d just make a House in spite of stigma and raise the bar with good RP until it inspires others to follow suit and eventually arrive at a point where the guilds who tarnish the Houses are fringe figures of shame rather than huge, discouraging stains that keep good people from making good Houses.
Yeah.
You’re paying £9.99 a month to have fun. So do what you find fun. If people don’t like it? Ignore them. If I don’t like it? Slap me in the face with a wet fish.
A lot of us complain about minor things in this game but the bottom line should always be that we’re all having a good time.
If making your guild a House guild does that for you, then… go for it my dude…
Not in Warcraft. There were Human Tribes, but never Clans - not unless you count Vrykul ones.
And I can’t echo this enough. I don’t know if you’re actually intent on turning your guild into a community in a recruiting capacity or so on, but you shouldn’t try to conceal or play down what you are.
Not only will using ‘Clan’ over ‘House’ make it more difficult for potentially interested parties to find you because your descriptor is a bit of a misnomer, but you are potentially missing your target audience entirely. Given that ‘Clan’ is chiefly (if not exclusively) used by Dwarves in the Alliance, you’re liable to attract the wrong crowd.
You could just use < Dawmaw > as a singular word, thankfully not an abstract noun but it fits.
Only using the name alone adds the benefit of it being your literal last name under your characters first, and you can introduce yourself however you please, be it as the Dawnmaw family or the noble house?

To hell with the stigma, follow your heart and just use House! Since that seems to be what you really want, judging by your description. Never let another dictate how you play, if you know you can make a good guild to your liking then go for it! There’s stigma’s attached to pretty much anything in RP and you’ll always gonna have the chance to run into this One Strange Random Guy who feels the need to whisper you an essay about how he would do it better, no matter what you choose to play. Follow your dreams and build that House! 
Thank you guys for the positive feedback and support! I think in the end I’m going to rule it down to being “House”, to avoid any misconception. However, Okiba you make a pretty cool suggestion about simply calling it “Dawnmaw” or even “The Dawnmaw” and so forth; I’ll be certain to give these two options a think over before I assert my guild name.
