I wonder if Blizzard will add a gold sink into the housing system, where we have to pay rent or land tax??

Let’s not forget the ingame shop purchases of housing items, which they will do in bundles starting from the low low price of 24,99!

This.Special color aviable for 10€

If Blizzard are smart, they will do house related items to be purchased from the ingame shop to make extra cash.

well you have to buy most of the furniture and its 1 for 1, so if you want 4 chairs you have to buy 4 chairs.

buy a set of 4 chairs and a tea table for only 49,99 time-limited exclusive offer

No rent tho, because your house does not really occupy space in the actual game world

If they did Guild Halls, then I think an upkeep fee per week should be paid for that!

yes, i personally would also do group player housing, for example, guild player housing , competitive.
There can be some game world ownership by guilds, if they have to pvp or pve or pay for it (=economic competition) etc.

But i think blizzard’s approach is a home to eveerybody no conditions. So its logical blizzard is not doing rent.

But what i really dont understand is why they are doing one home per account policy, if they are not going to give us space in the real game world, but instead create neighborhoods. They can spam as many neighborhoods as they want, so why limit us to one home per account?

And my only guess so far, is they want to avoid dead hoods by this measure.

If this was their intention, they should have done it by stealing the baldur gate follower camp, where all your warband is available at home as NPCs. And then they can tell you your warbound actually lives there, look, right here is your pala sitting on the chair. But also these NPCs could make the neighborhood less empty.

But thats not the case…
So…What is their plan for these neighborhoods?
Maybe neighborhoods are forced this way, so that people cant complain noone actually sees/visits their home?
But since homes are instanced, meaning you need to load into them, noone will anyway, right?
And if the hood is in elwynn and there is no utility, why people would go there anyway?
You know what i mean?

So right now everything about midnight housing is a design choice mystery

My working theory, how i explain all of this inconsistencies to myself, is midnight housing is actually a shop accessory/mythic funnel/gold sink, and so every decision about it should be viewed through the prism of what is the easiest to do without affecting anything in the game at all. Maybe its like, people look at Sims 4 item packs sales model, and they just need to have it too? idk just speculating here

in the past UC and IF were my main hub. a pity now are totally both useless.

No they are not gonna make you pay rent or taxes.
They where pretty firm on that cause they want everyone to have a house that they can’t loose.

And they already confirmed that there will be housing items in the shop they ofcourse want to monetize this five years I think investment.
But they also said every single thing that comes to the shop will also be available by playing the game.
So no shop exclusivs
