How much does ilvl affect dps?

no you go to your account on battle.net and from there you find the item restoration thingie, i havent used it recently so i cant remember exactly how its done, but iirc you can restore 1 item per month or something.

Nice. Thanks. So much to learn about this game. In all honesty I just wanted to do PvP and did so happily until this xpac, when they made it so that gear is more important and it’s not possible to gear up through rated PvP at relatively low rating (I think I’m right in saying that). I think you can gear through PvP, but I find rated PvP too much and I’m not sure if I’d do well enough to get decent gear even if I did pu tthe work in necessary to improve and get one or more partners: I just like to chill in random bgs.

Anyway, without getting any further into that subject, are you telling me a 370 Gladiator’s Badge (I think it was 370) is better than my 405 Knot of Wisdom? and the 385 Incandescent SIlver better than the 395 Crest of Paku?

Also, are you always aiming to be hard casting Pyroblast when you pop Combustion when playing optimally?

You didnt check bloodmallet did you.
Yes i am saying that
bloodmallet. com/index.html#mage_fire
tho that isnt set in stone, the only way to make sure is simming.

yes, but the proc is random, so you cant afford to wait for it and it requires spending hot streaks to get, so you cant fish for it either or you wont have any fire blasts for the combustion.
just have to get lucky.

No. I have now though and furthermore I’ve checked the advice it gives against doesn’t seem to be followed by the top mages (unless they just haven’t had any better drops), who are running a 405 Ancient Knot of Wisdom (https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/tarren-mill/Flêks) and a 405 Balefire Branch (https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/tarren-mill/Scrype). Both of them are also running a 415 Crest of Paku.

Ok thanks.

How did you find this by the way?

Also I notice that you’re currently running Incanter’s and Meteor. I know I’ve asked a lot of questions, but in case you aren’t fed up of answering questions now, do you mind my asking why you switched? Do you always run Phoenix Flames?

i knew of the website and just fed your logs into it which i could find with your name.

because pyroclasm is next to useless in dungeons and while doing world quests and they are mostly moving around and doing aoe so incanter’s flow and phoenix flames feel like an obvious choice, well atleast for me since i have a lot of experience with these talents.

Ok thanks. One thing I’m wondering about at the moment is precisely when to use On Use Trinket if I use Combustion during a cast. Should I use it just before or just after popping Combustion?

By the way, I’ve now checked Bloodmallet (for the trinkets at least) and I’m just in the process of looking into stat weights Raidbots.

depends, if the effect lasts longer than 10 seconds you might aswell do it just before, i just have it in the same macro so it goes after, but now that im thinking about it i might have to change it a bit.

Did you restore the trinket yet? i know there is a time limit on that so do that right now.

As we’re already on the topic of talents and stuff… does it require 3x wildfire for pyroclasm to become the superior option compared to meteor? Simming it myself, I’m getting just a 1% difference between these two. Given it is so small, there’s the possibility that pyroclasm is simply not worth it the moment movement is involved and you may waste procs.

for me 2x wildfire made pyroclasm better, so i didnt even bother simming it with 3x and pyroclasm will continue to go ahead when we get more crit and haste.

Yeah I did. Struggling with Raidbots by the way. There’s no pawn option appearing on my character info in WoW, which the tutorial video I’m following said to click on.

Pawn is an addon…

Oh yeah thanks.

As you can see there, having double wildfire makes my dps difference with Pyroclasm next to none. Don’t mind all the different RoP options being here, just wanted to check something with these.

Hmm. Strange. It’s telling me that a feet item is an upgrade. Then when I equip that item, it tells me that the item it replaced is an upgrade. Ah well when I use the compare tab, the score for one item is higher than the other, so at least I can see there which one really is supposed to be the upgrade. Would like to know what’s going on with the green arrow indicating the items is an upgrade appearing on both items though. They can’t both be upgrades I think.

its probably for another spec, you can delete those weights if you want, i only have 2 but only really use 1 because raids are the most important and i cant bother simming everything for 2 different builds.

1.3% is something atleast, but if you are not used to pyroclasm i would probably suggest you go with meteor, however if you had 3x wildfire the difference would be more noticable.

When you say another spec, you mean Frost or Arcane or you mean a different build for Fire? Can I get it to show just for my current spec? How do I delete these weights as you suggest?

yes i do mean frost and arcane, i cant remember how you delete them, but i know you can delete them as i dont have them.
a differeent build is different talent build

I wonder if hearing ‘ok thanks’ might be getting boring, but ok thanks.

The difference in sims between Pyroclasm and Meteor was never large this expansion, and it will depend on your gear, because Pyroclasm scales much better with crit than any other Fire build.

The main thing between Pyroclasm and Meteor is this: Meteor comes up consistently on a cooldown, Pyroclams is a random proc. But on the other hand, Meteor is only good if you can land it so that the targets stay in the area for the whole duration of the ground effect. Otherwise it loses in value.
