I am failing at this class

i’ve just managed to get the 4 piece on my last dungeon thankfully haha so should help.

on my last run (without 4 set) I managed 7-7.5k DPS overall, which is better then what i was doing (4.8k overall) but likely still behind where i should realistically be. maybe 4 set will carry that up abit in itself now.

but i do have 2 terrible trinkets (both 200 ilevel and from Season 1.)

My SKB is terrible, i keep forgetting it… im guessing i should aim to have SKB Proc for when im not in combusting (I.E Dont combust if im 5 Procs deep into needing to hardcast pyro).

and my Rune of Power Positioning likely needs to improve.

AFAIK if you get SKB during Combustion, you simply spend it there.

That may be because he has so much haste he can cast them through Hot Streak instead (because more Fire Blasts), not because it’s a bad idea.

It’s mostly because he’s super geared and has combustion up many times for various pulls.

ah oki. just to get a weak aura to remind me, hard to track a buff at the very corner of ur screen as a tiny image haha.

how much haste should i be aiming for? I has 28% So far.

you should ignore any stat percentages, as that’s an outdated way of thinking about gear. sim top gear on raidbots instead.

I agree, simming is a far more reliable source of information to know which secondary stats you should go for.

Generally there are points where certain stats are more valuable than others, this affects haste especially.

Ill make an example, let’s say that you have a cd window that lasts 8 seconds, the closer you get to fitting 1 extra gcd in that window, the higher the haste value, but when you surpassed that point, the value of haste will diminish, until you reach the point again where you’re close to fitting one extra gcd in the window, and then it goes back down after you got there, until you reach 0.75 gcd, and haste generally significantly drops after that.

Ofc if you have “too much” of a certain stat, other stats value will go up, so it’s not as easy as the example i made above, but it’s a general example.

The only difference is that i would personally recommend simulationcraft.

why? raidbots IS simulationcraft ran on cloud hardware, with added user-friendly features like top gear that allow you to sim your entire backpack with just a few mouse clicks. choosing to do that manually on simcraft makes no sense.

I don’t know, i guess i’m just more used to it.

Isn’t there a paywall for some of raidbots features?

skipping the line (not relevant outside of peak times), and droptimizer for all dungeons on one sim (you can still run several sims for each individual dungeon)

i might pay 3€ for a month during patch launches, but outside of that it’s not worth it

I see, thanks.

Edit: After having tried this spec for some days, i can say with absolute certainty that it is the most difficult spec to play optimally in the game. This is the only dps spec in the game, that i couldn’t just pick up and play either great or optimally.

The main reason is because of sun king legendary, it’s really difficult to keep track of it, and use it correctly even if you make a weak aura, unless you smack it in the center of your screen, which would bring other problems.

Since this will become a talent for dragonflight i think they should make an effort to make the proc more obvious to tell, just like how hot streak works, they should give it a visual effect.

To be completely honest i would rather have sun king work like it used to in legion, by giving you a super charged pyroblast if you hard cast it, this is exactly how pyroclasm works by the way if you are wondering, it’s not that you always hard cast pyroblast.

And instead have a talent to further reduce the cd of combustion, so the uptime comes out being relatively the same.

Or give us a visual effect so it’s obvious when we should hard cast pyroblast.

Oh wait, forget i said anything, we get both so… Yea, fire mage will be super high skill ceiling, which i’m not against, i just hope they give it a way to easily tell when you have the proc up.

Man this spec is something else. It’s fun, but really difficult.

FYI with current tuning pyro ignite > flamestriking, so you just pick a big guy and ST rotation. You don’t even need to talent into flamestrikes in dungeons.
