They managed to move everything from OW1 to OW2 in terms of cosmetics and stuff tho.
Maybe they can do that with this wow also, just to move it to a better engine

Which Audience ?
Mmoâs are dying especially subbed oneâs. People arenât interested in them.
They cycle the same people and playerbase.
Join another mmo and ask who has played WoW ⌠99% say they have
Same in retail wow ask how many played ff14 and eso the majority say they have
Genuinely met two new players to WoW in Dragonflight. They were Dragonflight babies , do you know how incredibly rare that is ? Btw they both quit last year found TWW boring.
Thatâs the point. WoW 2.0 (again, IF it ever happens) may not even be an MMO RPG.
I think wow will come to mobile and console.
I think wow will be around for 20 more years.
I think wow 2 is already happening , we just donât see it. Because itâs coming in patches.
I donât think thereâs a need for a WoW 2 ( as in a whole new game) Wow has already captured itâs audience. Thereâs no new Fresh blood so to speak to recruit.
That would be a massive task tho.
Look at smite. They revamped there whole engin and outright said ânope thatâs to many skinsâ it would have tool way to.much time and effort transferring all the skins over to smite 2
I imagine that would be equally hard for wow if they actually make a new engine and not just upgrade it like they did for ow
I think itâs good that wow is on its own engine, which gets updated over time, because making the game dependent on a third company like unreal engine is a really bad idea, if the goal is to have a liveservice game that lasts for decades. They have massively improved the engine of wow, and if they bring it on console for example, they will have to rebuild that engine from the ground up adding new possibilities potentially and making it more effective. Also sometimes restrictions are a feature. Recolors for example might look stupid technologically, but itâs also providing a reward structure. Else they have shown with Skyriding and when they updated the Horizons of the game, that they are absolutely capable of improving their engine in big ways over time.
They apparently hired some Wildstar employees a while back, I could see a Wildstar-like combat system doing nicely today, if used with an actually responsive engine. Basically, any class would get a number of abilities to choose from, but instead of choosing a specialisation, you would pick a limited set of abilities that you could place on your hotbar (I think it was 6 or 8?), and then could apply upgrades to those abilities instead of regular always-on talents. Wildstar didnât really utilise regular tab targeting, but instead every ability had an effect in a very specific area. Either a GT circle, or a frontal line or a cone, etc. Many of the abilities would be targeted just by looking into the correct direction.
Overall, this created a much faster paced combat experience. where the skill expression was with choosing the right abilities and upgrades for the job, and then basically being in the right spot to DPS/heal/receive healing while dodging mechanics. It was very satisfying, but also very ahead of its time. However, I could see this doing greatly as a game with XBOX/PC crossplay functionality due to the focus on movement and fewer - but meaningful - abilities over the 40 button rotations we have in WoW.
Dude, are you honestly and genuinely comparing PALIA with WoW? And calling Palia âseriousley impressive gameplay loopâ For real?
Starting the game is pretty nice, but it quickly becomesâŚyeah itâs a downright cashgrab in a nice and cozy artstyle.
I wonder what percentage of the playerbase are part of the old faithful?
Do you need to know? Wow is still here and that is undeniable.
Yeah but is it being carried by people that canât/wonât let go? It isnât being carried by the top 1%
I find it difficult to understand what you are saying.
If people wont let go, then something wow is doing right. That is what a game is supposed to do. Keep you playing.
If its being carried by the 1%⌠think for a minute what you just said. 1% implies the existance of 99% to make 100%âŚ
No itâs nostalgia. Hence why classic is doing well and also has the token.
I brought new people to the game and both of them say nothing makes sense in the story. Professions are a confusing mess as each expansion has different ways of doing them.
They disliked delves, and hated the rush mentality when grouping with others.
You canât just announce that as the universal truth.
I am stuck on wow because of nostalgia cause this my game but I would rather bite of my own foot then play classic.
For me wow just still is the best mmo
Nostalgia apples to retail players too. This isnât a retail v classic thing.
Then you can play other games .whatâs stopping u ?
Where is your data for this? With out data, you got no argument.
And I am tired of showing the data to people like you. Showing how there are <10k people playing wow classic in the whole world. Meanwhile, there are MILLIONS of keys done per week in Retail. And that is with out counting raids, delves, wqâŚectâŚ
Just use the serch in these forums to find it. Im kinda bored of posting it.
So your argument is worth dog poop.
But back on the subject at hand. Why do people play retail? Nostalgia? So what?
If a lot of people keep playing for 20 years out of nostalgia wow is doing something good. Again.
Why arent people still playing Doom 1 out of nostalgia and the company had to make Doom 2, 3, 4, ⌠but not wow?
Because wow did something right.
I can remember all the forum posts begging Blizz to make Classic, so they did. Now people donât seem to play both it is one or the other. I hope we donât have a forum full of WoW2 because, with the exception of some content, I like things as they are.
Attachment?
Itâs perfectly reasonable that people who have played WoW for a number of years feel inclined to keep playing it, because they enjoy it.
But that doesnât detract from the fact that you can look at more modern games with fancy physics engines, ray-tracing, or multi-platform, cross-platform gameplay, or similar, and wish that for WoW.
You can enjoy WoW in spite of its flaws and shortcomings, whilst still recognizing those flaws and shortcomings.
I already uninstalled war within
Just would be nice if WoW took the things that make those games good into WoW.
So thereâd be a reason to play War within again.
