For a new player, this event is amazing. It’s an effortless way to gear up. Only “problem” is, it’s so lucrative I find myself stuck in the zone all day 
I would have to agree with the op. We had so many “rares” with long spawns (and often pitiful loots) that its just unfun. I had the chance to acquire a large chunk of the rare mounts/pets/toys dropping in the BFA zone. In none of the cases I felt either proud or having had the “omg,omg!” reaction. Rather it was the “alright, screw this that I wont have to farm again, onto the next one…” which has a sense of indifference at best.
I dont know, perhaps Im coming from the point of view where Im seeing mounts being overused to death in this game but Blizzard needs to realize what many people say that waiting isnt content People already pay on monthly basis for this game so asking them to bundle the gaming experience with Netflix isnt necessary. One or several harder to get rares per expansion, it has its niche alright, but now we are stuffed with a bunch of them per zone (try the rare achi for Nazjatar and you will know what I mean).
To me, it kinda does, because if it drops a rare mount, and i want that, ill spend my time farming it.
But if i have to pay a sub to be basicly afk and wait for respawn just so i can get a rep and progress in quest, lore, gear or whatnot, thats a flawed system in my eyes.
I pay to play, not to be logged in while reading book or watching yt or whatnot.
