Yeah I didn’t really do LFR outside of leggos prior, but until this guy, i’d only needed to do the odd boss in the early wings, but the sub leggo I wanted drops from Sire.
And fighting him was fun. I’m well aware that LFR is probably nothing like the real deal, but it was a fun activity in itself and i’m pretty chuffed that despite only reading the journal 5 minutes prior, I managed to be one of the few whom didn’t die on the first run! It kept me on my toes for sure!
I’m definitely going to try and raid a bit more next patch, maybe even try to get in on some of the community raids if I can, not even for the loot (although those new gems and daggers looks pretty nice…) but mainly because it’s a cool change of pace.
I am yes, and already benefitting, went from 0 keys run since returning this guy to having 4-5 decent ones (when looking at my ilevel) run as of last night thanks to those guys and gals. Was a blast and everyone was super pleasant and nobody moaned about the low ilevel sub panda rogue still trying to work out the best way to play sub haha. Every key was timed as well! Looking to run many more tonight I hope, have a juicy Mists 10 to start off the evening.
Theres some weird interactions within the catchup system.
Depending on what quests I did and how much of the campaign I did some of my latest levelled alts stopped getting renown from ‘literally everything’ around 25, and took as much as 10-15 boss kills in HC to get a single point.
So unless someone is lucky enough to go by the path of least resistance (which we have no clear information about) it might take alot longer than 2 days.
Well, I did LFR, some heroics and mythic dungeons, some callings, 6-7 m+ and then all the campaign chapters in 1 go. Might have been lucky though, but I still think that 2 weeks are more than enough to catchup.
You forgot this part: Renown drops in masses in normal/heroic/mythic dungeons/world bosses, daily caches (if youre far behind) and raids. Farmed 35 renown in a day mate. At least now at this point in time. Getting enough renown for the campaign is the least problem. Would be more concerned about how the “mega catchup” is going to be in 9.1
We have 3 groups regarding flying. One group that doesnt want it at all and another that wants it. The third doesnt give a poop. This system was put in place to satisfy both. Despite Ion being opposed to flying and as such belongs in group 1. And this new flying is even easier/less annoying to obtain compared to previous pathfinders.
Yes. And then you stop playing if thats fullfilled. That you took the 6month sub is on you (you however received the goodies for the pass if you had one running i believe when they introduced the current 6month bundle). Never take a 6month sub for a number of reasons unless youre absolutely sure youre going to play regardless because of your main content (key pushing, pvp, progress raiding)
And then they return on June 30. Or half a week later to get ready for the stuff comming 1 week later.
We are not defending Blizzard. This tier is by all accounts way too long and you can voice your distaste of it but if your personal worth has been fulfilled and its no longer worth the money then quit.
As many have explained the gating only applies when you are up to date. If you are behind there is a catch up mechanic and generally the further behind you are the more it throws renown at you.
You can earn Renown with your chosen Covenant only if you are not capped. All players have their Renown capped at the same level. The cap increases by 2 each week since the beginning of Shadowlands following the below schedule.

If you are not capped, you will earn Renown in the following ways:
By completing the 9 chapters of your Covenant Campaign. Each completed chapter grants you one Renown.
Randomly through max level gameplay: dungeons, raids, PvP, and Callings (the new Emissary Quests). If you are far behind the cap, you can expect the chances to earn a Renown through these activities to be higher. This is thanks to catch-up systems in place to allow you to get up to speed.
we will be unlocking flying in the next 4-5 weeks as i understand it, which is not even close to the end of the game, there will still be an entire 9.1 patch as well as 9.2 and 9.3 to be able to fly in.
its also stupidly easy to gain renown, its locked so long as you play from the very start of the patch but thats because they need to time gate content in order to stop everyone being able to just play through the entire patch content instantly and complain about there not being enough to do
people dont seem to realise that blizzard is a business, the goal of a business is to make money, so if they are making a game that runs off of a subscription model then making sure people are playing for extended periods is correct, people might not agree with that but it just makes sense,
if they didnt time gate stuff everyone would be done with the campaigns within the first week or 2 and then basically be complaining for the next 6 months that there is nothing to do
