it feels like being a hunter carrying a gun but then you throw rocks at your enemies, there is something a bit stupid about this.
I think classic can do the following,
Instead of a staff, you could use a wand!
The rest might come in the future or never.
To do that, they have to add an additional staff animation for all races.
Then another animation for swords, daggers, wands and other potential caster weapons.
So they choose the alternative method of not doing any of that.
And instead, will use the time that would have been otherwise wasted, to do something a lot more productive.
Like the fairy transmog for 20$.
I am in full agreement with our magnificent friend, and would also like to have this choice. Especially for the mages, warlocks and priests, focussing their power through their weapons would make for a really nice cosmetic option.
And good riddance for that.
I like it better when the magic comes from my character rather than an artifact. The artifact(weapon) can enhance it, but the magic should not be channeled through it. Would make me feel less powerfull.
It really is weird when some NPCs tells Priests/Mages/Warlocks to use their weapons in combat while in reality their weapons only are equipped as stat props. The only exception is wands, but wands are rarely used anyway unless the caster actually is out of mana or otherwise are unable to cast spells.
