I'm genuinely shocked!

Chromie time for existing or players? Cos I’d agree that it’d be nice to give people that option - even new people.

However, due to how massive the lore is and how Chromie time can either spoil or leave you “thrown in at the deep end” I’d still also be very much behind a revamp of the Old World experience.

There should be a story path (and perhaps even a rediculous reward) for carrying out WoW from start to finish story-wise.

It might be ridiculous to make work but it’d be cool to give people the “speed” option or the immersive optio

Tried, didn’t work did enable the Travelers tavern thingie though.
And Chromie does have a different dialogue option now but I can’t select any time lines.

You realise you can choose any expac right

Not sure how you think Chromie Time is gonna help.
Like every expansion has a huge back story you need to know.

The new island should have been a introduction to wow. A sort of hall of fame type of content run by bronze dragons and lore keepers that walk you trough the overall story of WoW. They can add the mechanics of the games by trying out your abilities on old bosses like Arthas and Deathwing.

Just imagine a Bronze dragon talking about wrath and then showing you a vision of the Lich king raid where they explain the jist of raid mechanics. Here you could try out some abilities you’ve learned so far.

Because that character is too high level - now try on an alt.

yh nothing beats goldshire

Well, it gave enough context for me back then when BfA was the current content to get a basic grasp of the Warcraft universe… Not enough to understand the lore but good enough to understand what is going on in a very raw sense.

Run over the place you want, I can not Chlorine time ever

i don’t think it’s a big deal, bfa is a good expansion , especially for new players, i can’t imagine someone being dropped into others .

I have a feeling storyline should be chosen at the character creation page and it should be tailored from the race and class. it would make it more immersive with a meaning for the character played.
The storyline created could be shown and explained on a map. It could have different path.
For sure, you could opt out any time or pick another quest and go somewhere else

You need to know…

That’s far fetched for a game where the majority of the community doesn’t even care about the story.

When I first started out playing World of warcraft in 2005 I didn’t even know there was an over al narrative. I was given a living breathing massive multiplayer online role play game set in the warcraft universe and given the freedom to do as I saw fit.

Now, it’s a instanced single player experience where I’m set on a linear path I can’t stray off from.

The only difference between retial and the horrible game Final Fantasy XIV is…
That in Wow retail you’re still able to pvp and or do dungeons without being forced to follow the main story quest line, so there’s atleast 1 positive.

And let’s be honest if people truly were to know the story first before advancing…
Shouldn’t you begin at the start and not near the end? Or are the events from Vanilla up to legion no longer canon?

To be fair, this worked for my cousin who joined and knew nothing. I was impressed by how much she picked up about Jaina and that she enjoyed the story so much.
But I agree with OP. People shouldn’t be subjected to BFA.

THIS if nothing else!! This is a huge oversight. I took two years out during BFA and my experience in BFA dungeons was horrible.
