I would advocate for filtering the substance of the message from the way it’s worded. I play healer and get trash talked on a somewhat regular basis. Usually they have a point but they’re being dicks about it. I learn from their “feedback” and my rating keeps climbing.
Also, is enabling chat before the game to turn it off during the game something to consider or is that annoying and clunky to do? I imagine it’s hard to be toxic before mistakes have been made.
I disagree. At best it won’t make a difference because you made the right decision based on your own ability. At worst, you’ll be a worse teammate because you made the wrong decision. Is that meaningfully different to just playing poorly to begin with? It’s not griefing to make a bad play, it’s just that, a bad play. You get punished for bad plays by being more likely to lose the game, hence losing rating + mmr.
yes because you havent made the bad play yet until you’re in the game. if you enter the lobby and instantly turn off chat your default settings are ‘bad play’ and its fine to say this:

i get it - theres a lot of maniacs in bg blitz. almost every game and definitely every loss. but you just report them or ignore them and its gg. but to assume all 7 of your team are maniacs to begin with is just griefing.
if someone types out a plan like “mage priest LM, war prevoker BS, hunter farm, rest GM” and you, the priest run bs and let your mage get swamped at LM and immediately put us behind - you are griefing 100% and you will get 7x report for gameplay sabotage and get yourself banned because of it.
its not shuffle where u can communicate via pings. you need to type at the start or your team is playing blind.
if you spin mid people type their strats in /say, which the other team can read. if you stop and start typing back to them they go nuclear its so funny.

the only thing what u can learn there, is to use the chat report button when someone drops the first word

I did say “usually they have a point”. Like yeah, obviously “you suck uninstall” is completely unhelpful. My experience is usually them pointing out something I did in an unflattering way.
