Does this mean that if someone wants to play World of Warcraft at the BEST LOOKING graphics they must have an AMD graphics card for that new SSAO setting?
Or does this only improve performance on AMD without changing visually?
Neither, it’s an implementation of a specific ambient occlusion algorithm based on the interface provided by DirectX 12 or Vulkan, so it works on any GPU supporting those. And from the blue post above Blizzard also made it work for DirectX 11, so you should get the desired effect regardless of your GPU manufacturer.
