I feel utterly protected by myself and my own ego and do not require someone else to protect me from things people say … like all adults.

Ignore does not report people. You need to do that as well before you ignore them.
It’s dealt with the exact same way as verbal harassment face to face.
Have you seen the movie, " Equilibrium" ? If people like you have your way, our society will end up like the one in that movie.

… and I exercise it a plenty. Best way to deal with trolls and buffed out heroes is to take away their echo. And often people, who try to get to you feel more irritated by the fact that you do not react at all.
IGNORE feature is best social feature of wow. I just hope they add back block feature on forums too. So that when you block someone you block them and their 20 alts the same.

I think Blizzard should allow us to report npc’s also! Nathanos is always calling me names. And Sylvanas said I was nothing, hit home that one. O yea, would love to report scroll-sage Nola, she is very annoying.

People online (and not just in WoW) will revert to the easiest things to say to try and put you down. Words like Cancer and Autistic are so often thrown around as they tend to get big reactions from those they’re attacking.
If you feel that people need to be reported you can right click their name in the chat box and report them there for their use of language. You’ll get a small box to add any information you feel that you need to. Despite advising this I’m doubtful that Blizzard really cares.

Indeed, the sad part tho is when people take the bait and make a fool out of themselves, and resort to the same level, like just ignore/report it and done…….

Well no…
imagine you could slap NPC and knock them out for calling you names. I would totally do that for at horde.
This isn’t the sign of glowing intellect… just a lack of tolerance/patience.
No, I haven’t… and it doesn’t sound like a film I’d be in any hurry to want to see. That said, I don’t watch films for the sake of watching them, either.
It still doesn’t excuse name-calling & verbal abuse for the sake of it.
Do you people really believe that the only tool you have available is report? You can always put people in your ignore list and never hear from them again.
Ok, since it’s 2020 and internet has been there for a longer while… My advise is to grow a thicker skin and just accept that through anonymity people can be at their worst because they can get away with it.

If they are breaking Code of Conduct, report them and /ignore (if it isn’t full).

People will call you whatever they want but it wont make it true. It just shows how bad their personality is.
You dont have to /ignore them to be able to ignore them in your mind. But you can /ignore them to make it easier for yourself.
Dont be affected by such words and move on mate.
