I mean, I got a two week ban for ridiculing the concept of racism and OP’s conspiracy theory about Battlegrounds somehow being fundamentally racist, so I guess that’s off limits too. Feels a bit like YouTube taking down videos that debunk misinformation but leaving the actual misinforming video up.

Actually quoted the offending post, with the swear words blanked out. I got the ban, the offending post remained up until I appealed The moderator actually admitted not reading my post, but just clicking silence!

Regardless of how much you say it is about televisions, it’s clear that it’s not. Assuming that “masking” what you want to say lets you evade a ban is childish. No matter how clever this excuse sounded in your head.

Their idea (or at least the mod on duty that day) of “Balance” is to not only give the troll who sickengly trolled the farewell to Brigante thread free rein to do so they also saw fit to remove the flag from one of their puerile posts and REINSTATE the post before I can only assume a better mod took one look over the previous mod’s shoulder, said “really bud? REALLY? You reinstated that?!” and then deleted and banned the troll.
But then again. I get posts removed if I call transphobes “idiots” and get 7 day bans for telling someone how I met my wife online.

Ive just booked an appointment with a therapist to deal with the trauma of him owning me online. I really just couldn’t go on. I nearly had to go and burn that damn orphanage again I was so stressed.

My guess is if a post/reply gets enough reports the corresponding account just gets a timeout from the forum, with escalating penalties in case of repeated offense.
That’s not quite how it works. A post can only receive five posts then it’s hidden. At that point no more reports can be made. A moderator then has to review the post, and they decide if action should be taken.
If the five flags burying posts automatically banned anyone, the forums would be a ghost town.
The system also wasn’t intended for the way Blizzard uses it for World of Warcraft. If we posted on bnet level it wouldn’t be an issue but any one account can have up to fifty characters on it, so people can mass flag, talk to themselves, give themselves likes etc. It doesn’t feel they actually track any of the multi character actions.
