I find it very boring and repetitive for something that feels like it takes forever.
I’ve had zero issues with difficulty so far but it’s just boring and slow.
People are harping on about this expansion being alt friendly but the mandatory torghast slog put’s me off ever wanting to even level my alts. I hate this place being the only real source of soul ash.
It’s a slightly less unfun maw to me, doubled down on by the absolute laziest and stupid design choice of making anima powers tied to the generic class wide stuff rather than being spec specific.
What makes Torghast fun for me is the abiletis and to do it with friends.
Some of the fun stuff I so far had is hero/BL every 30sec, 2sec CD on interupt and mawrats that explode for more damage then me and my 2 friends could posebly ever do.
Sometimes you also find stat increases that gives you a small punishment, like you cant jump or walk backwards.
One of my friends was super buffed but could do neither and the confusion he had led to allot of funny acsidents .
I hope they change nothing and only add more wierd and crazy powers for us to use.
No, but it has so much potential which is a shame. It feels rushed and I’m honestly surprised that the beta testers praised it so highly.
The powers are for the most part boring and uninteresting while clicking on souls and breaking pots is just plain tedious. The runs take far too long in general and I feel like it’s just missing that bit of polish, even simple things like a recap screen at the end would be nice.
I compare it to a game like Slay the Spire which feels so much more enjoyable and the difference being, I think, are the extra elements it has over Torghast. I view anima powers as the card choices but there’s no relic comparison, nothing to give it that extra level of crazy.
I would summarise by saying that Blizzard have taken themselves too seriously with Torghast. Why not go mad with it, make fun/whacky powers, make us OP, get creative.
It is either extremely frustrating when you don’t get the anima powers you need to win or extremely rewarding when you do get some good powers and barely beat the last boss on a layer solo
Yesterday I did coldheart layer 5 solo and all the way up to the boss was hell.
I got really bad powers and i had to pick the mobs I fight very carefully^^
Fortunately the boss was a really easy one who basically did no damage as long as you interrupt/stun him regularly.
This was definitely not fun to me.
Boss was too easy to feel rewarding and the way up there was way too hard to be fun.
But I’ve also had runs that were very nicely balanced with just the right powers to make it enjoyable but not too easy.
To me it seems really random.
Rng mostly decides if it’s fun or not ^^
Haha. I’ve had a ton of those too as balance, and I have yet to use roots in there. Or well, I used it a little bit to slow an empowered elite type of mob yesterday, but didn’t actually need it.
Maybe roots will have some use at higher levels, but not found the use yet.
Precisely, it is monotonous and has too many floors, I’d be just as happy with 3 instead of 6 floors. I have got I think 2 legendaries at the end boss. But still, yes, there should be some gear loot to make the (very long) run more appealing. I also think it can be abused, eg with rushing with a very well geared player in a group of 2, I am not sure what they have done about this.
I like Torghast. I think it can be fun, but it’s like some have said. If you get some nice anima powers it can be decent, but if you don’t, it just feels like you wading through mud.
They need to get more creative with the powers, which should be not too bad to do as it will have no effect on the rest of the game. I’m hoping twisting corridors does this and has some fun rewards other than that 1 mount.
Also make it none mandatory, cause I want this to stay in the game past the xpac. imho, this is the kind of content the game needs, content you can spend hours doing outside of progression and it just be dumb fun, but blizz seems desperate to make everything tryhard and mandatory in some way to progress, then people dislike it and it gets cut
I’ve always wondered about questions like this. Do people not realise that we have different tastes or? Different individuals can have different tastes.
It’s always better to test something and form your own opinion. Especially more so than it is listening to people who might get paid to do said content. It’s part of their lively hood (in many cases at least).
Plus, I think it’s very easy for most of us to hype up content before its released. It’s both a pro and a con. It creates excitement but, it can also create high expectations, which leaves us disappointed when not reached.
I’m happy that I didn’t look too much into the Maw and Torghast. I, like you, would most likely feel very disappointed as I also find it long and boring. It’s not hard but it’s just… boring. I’ll do it for the legendary though it’s not boring enough that I can’t handle it
If the mobs actually dropped rare/epic loot and there were other secrets to discover then it would be far more engrossing. As it is, you suffer through an hour to hope you get the right powers or the right boss. Passably interesting on once character, a big no thanks on alts, but as all things this expansion, it very much depends on your class and spec.
I can’t stand it. I’ll farm it just enough for my BiS rank 4 legendary then never step inside again.
It’s way too long and way too RNG.
Also Blizzard keeps forcing us to play with things that are NOT OUR TOON and I really don’t enjoy that.
When you ride a machine or control an NPC for a quest, you’re not playing your toon.
When you run a Torghast with 50 super powers, you’re not really playing your toon either. Well you are but not in any realistic condition that could help improve your skill.
Mage tower 2.0 for me. Like others have said, its heavily reliant on the anima powers and class/spec, not so much a ‘player skill’ thing.
It makes you think about which upgrades to take which can be the difference between a EZ run and a 'swimming through syrup ’ run. I’ve deliberately taken weird powers just to see what effect they have, the no walking backwards is good fun. The one where the Kyrian owl acts as a pocket healer is great on the final boss.
TLDR - I enjoy it as something to do outside of the tedious WQs, like Diablo rifts. I dont believe in the 'rewards for logging in ’ mentality, but even a token amount of anima would be nice on a scuffed run depending on how far you got
I am totally aware that different players have different opinions for sure. I just want to see what the community feels about Torghast in general.
I don’t really watch wow streaming that much. But some streamers’ videos do give nice and valid opinions about the game.
However, this time, almost ALL the videos I watched only praise Torghast to be great and fun stuff. But my personal experience on live is very different . I find it is very interesting and want to know how other normal players feel.
