And that racist writer’s npc is still in Maldraxxus
The luxury of being a “minority” in California with inside family in the company I guess xd since if I’m not mistaken the government in the USA or atleast Cali are trying to push more women and people of “all backgrounds” into the work place, or atleast they were at some stage.
you can be as racist/ sexist as you want aslong as your are in the devs click
If someone alleged you did something that was untrue and bliz decided to ban your account and delete all your chars without any evidence (just to keep their company safe) do you feel that would be appropriate?
I dare say not.
It’s knee jerk and ridiculous to be guilty in the court of public opinion.
It’s how life works unfortunately. People always jump the gun and yell stuff without any proof, it’s the type of world we’ve fostered.
It’s largely the expansion of an otherwise sensible precaution which gets blown into a more sinister form when matched with social media and large public knowledge (particularly those whom have jobs dependent on public reputation) let me offer some analogies.
Let’s say you’re a manufacturer of sweets. Let’s say there are rumblings that one of your sweet products may or may not directly cause people to experience medical issues, but nobody knows for sure. Can you honestly say you think the sensible thing to do would be to continue selling the sweets until your boffins conclude the truth? I doubt it. You have a responsibility to safeguard your customers and the power to offer some mitigation in this case so the common thing would be to withdraw it until you know.
Now, it’s not quite the same, as sweets don’t have a reputation based career.
Consider the example of a childminder. Let’s say you have children and you hire a childminder when you’re out at work. You hear rumblings from more than once source that this childminder has been accused of doing inappropriate things with their charges.
In this situation, would you honestly continue to leave your children with this person in private until the matter is concluded? Or would you take precautions?
This situation is closer because you withdrawing the childminder affects their reputation and suggests wrongdoing, even if false. This is unfortunate but surely we can see the logic behind the decision.
It’s as simple as people prioritising the welfare of their responsibilities (and by proxy their own reputation) more than the reputation of someone else, so risking that person’s reputation is a price they’re willing to pay in order to safeguard their own and also protect their charges.
I will say this though, too little is done where someone is vindicated, and there appears to be no major effort to clarify matters or make amendments. Rather “the damage is done” and the person has to simply try and get back on their feet. This isn’t great.
That said, I completely understand the basis of the behaviour. I work in a field where I absolutely would not be prepared to risk my clients welfare if it became clear they were being exposed to a risk I had the power to mitigate whilst an investigation was going on. However I would myself make extra effort if they were vindicated to try to rectify any hardships they suffered from my action where possible.
might be a similar situation with what happened with Ashe’s voicelines on OW.
The internet is not solely based in ‘murica’
Or don’t you see all the fake outrage posts in here half the time?
Remember the Method thread?
I do. I remember getting yelled at by a horde of angry posters who were quite prepared to just accept he was guilty because the internet said so and no amount of “errm… do you have any actual evidence?” would dissuade them.
bunch of nerds yelling on forums about vs getting fired hmmm
*allegations are that he is a groomer+sexual harassment (see gamerant)

Is that the right article? It’s from Nov last year, so thought I’d check.
It’s kind of silly to me how much people will defend corporations for doing all kinds of stuff because it’s ‘to be expected of corporations in capitalism and that’s what capitalism is all about and it’s not illegal’ but they will also jump on the trains of these accusations. Even when, every time no court of law doesn’t do anything because the ‘evidence’ usually isn’t enough to even convince a jury or to meet the guidelines to violate law. Unsurprisingly, most of these cases are ex-revenge or post-regret whatever, sometimes years later.
Swifty’s NPC still isn’t back, other NPCs that shouldn’t be in the game are still in(with actual evidence) and then there’s stuff like this.
Amber Heard against Jonny Depp
Typical Cancel Culture
In US Forum you can troll with fake “lgbt troll posting” because Blizzard US is to worry to ban the trolls because of twitter / tiktok cancel culture
I know you’re trying to take the more reasonable argument with Blizzard being in good faith but i doubt that’s the main reasoning behind cutting ties before any allegations reach a concrete conclusion. It’s far more likely that they want to be ahead of anyone trying to frame them for either not acting or acting too slowly since it has some potential to hurt their public image as a company.
Of course their public image taking a dent in that way can affect their employees as well, so i can see your point from that approach.
America=Third World so few smart so many smooth brains
Can you honestly say you think the sensible thing to do would be to continue selling the sweets until your boffins conclude the truth? I doubt it.
Actually if you swap sweets for Covid vaccines this is exactly what they did with them lol. They didn’t (and haven’t) stopped producing them, even with the blood cot findings, certainly not before it.
Oh that’s entirely possible. I honestly hadn’t thought of that. But yeah, there’s likely some PR concerns to it. I mean, we already associate this voice actor to WoW specifically, so it’s likely that Blizzard wants to get ahead of that before they get entangled in the news more than already.
we already associate this voice actor to WoW specifically
seems like all the articles are associating him with metal gear solid… We’re even to irrelevant for that!
I think it sounds fairly similar
I mean, we already associate this voice actor to WoW specifically
To be fair i associate him more with his role in Kingdom Hearts
Axel was a great character in II
